Twern't a dog and twern't slipped you mixer....Twas a bitch who backed out through her collar between my legs and you know it....but weren't that a great kill she made from the other side of the game crop when I had to lift her up to see the hare way out on the stubble? And by the way, didn't you thank me for advising you to buy Delboy? na na, na-na na!

I've used Friars Balsam in the past with success over the skinned area. It forms an antisceptic barrier.

Jeez I never go to the game fair but reading this has convinced me that maybe I should go this year and meet up with some old pals for a bit of craic....

"Colonel Paddy, rogue warrier of the S.A.S." is the full title I think.

There should be a film made of this mans exploits. As a founder member of the SAS who plagued the nazis in the desert he deserves his place in history beyond his birthplace in Newtownards. Liam Neeson for the lead?

Agree S, they flow over the ground like sweet music.....uplifting!

Good advice. If you can find a mentor who hunts regularly and get out with him as often as you can over a season or two, as well as watching his preparation, it may convince you that the required attention to detail, weight control, feeding methods, hygiene......and just getting game in front of your hawk, is more work than you could manage to fit in your busy schedule......or not,......in which case you'll embark upon a journey which can be very fulfilling in direct proportion to the effort you put in. Good luck in deciding which direction you take...

Falcons Day Out With Gorger And Duff

If it wasn't for the fear of falling foul of the law and losing dogs and motor, hares wouldn't be left on the land for the buzzards. Imagine travelling 8 or 10 miles towing a trailer full of saluki x's with 13 hares in the back of the landy and a police car tailing you all the way, only to peel off at the next village! An anus puckering journey I'm sure....

I think we all ran this cross at one time or another. Usually easy to get along with and pacy enough too.

It seems the Tories always get in after labour have fcuked up the economy, then when the country is booming labour get back in and squander their inheritance....again! This time the Conservatives have been shackled by the dead albatross of an otherwhise unelectable libdem party around their neck but after less than 3 years in power are still being blamed for the austerity that the last 13 years of labour folly necessitates. I think in this context "bear" is the correct term.

A Passion For Coursing The Next Book
BOLIO1 replied to northantscourser's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
It's just a pity that JD's books.....the best by a country mile of any publications on a similar subject.....are coming out now that the whole thing has been criminalised by the same government of liars that presided over the near bankrupting of our economy. Youngsters reading today of the great heritage of our dog sports will be spurred on but yet frustrated in equal measure, in the knowledge that in order to carry on for future generations they must make themselves pariahs in the eyes of the general public......while drug dealing and the crime that it generates to feed the demon, goes on in- 77 replies

Well considered response Lara. I'm not a nutritionist either but that shouldn't preclude either of us from rational thinking. Even whole carcass feeding, which is as near as we can get to a natural diet, involves ingestion of materials that will be digested at different rates. Fur covered hide, muscle, tendon, bone and organ tissue. The liver and muscle will contain glycogen which is effectively carbohydrate, but the fact is that many performance dogs are indeed fed a mixture and seem to suffer no ill effects. Sometimes it seems that the debate has crossed the line between science and ideology

Who among us hasn't eaten a typical dinner? Meat (high in protein and mostly digested in the hydrochloric acid environment of the stomach, plus fat which is mainly absorbed in the small intestine), potatoes or pasta ( carbohydrate, best converted from starch to sugar in the alkaline environment of the mouth by the enzyme ptyalin....spelling?....) To follow the logic that Kibble and raw shouldn't be fed together on the basis that they are digested at different rates, we should be splitting our dinner into several meals every day. Spuds for breakfast, veg for lunch, meat for dinner. What ha

Dean Brittan is in the Rhondda and had some American kestrels when I visited him in August. Of course he'll need to know that you have adequate experience with small raptors......but he can give you more info than most.
