  1. it can be a very expensive game now lads ,so its best to put dogs and cars in your lasses \mams names its worked for a few lads i know. the worst thing that happened to me was a while back .i took a 11 month old dog out with its father to a little place in yorkshire[cops dont like geordies through there] any way to cut a long story short my pup worked brilliant all night then all of a sudden kealed over and died in my arms [i had over worked it catching 40 rabbits -mainly half grown ones] some one went to get my car to put the dead pup in and then cops came ,we were arrested for tresspass
  2. thanks mate but i think shes done shes settled now and feeding so a bit dissapointing but 2 healthy little dogs that i shall keep as the mother needs an operation on her leg so i wont be working her as much
  3. my little cocker bitch went into her labour this afternoon and the 1st pup was born 3oclock then a lull for 2 hours and out popped 2 more but sadly one was born dead. then an hour passed and another dead one was born ,both the dead pups looked fine but no ammount of trying could bring them around the bitch is resting at the moment but breathing quite heavily so im keeping an eye on her in case anything else happens will keep you updated on any progress
  4. bosuns reply was a good one i agree with all the injuries lurchers get in tips etc but we had nothing better to do in the good old days and the dogs loved it we could rat all day and the dogs were still ready for the same nights lamping forays tough as feck were our dogs and never a scrap amongst them as they were a team as much as we were
  5. dont have lurchers now but me and the lads used to hunt the hedge rows around the local pig farms at this time of the year and it was great uusing collie crosses deerhound crosses and any thing that wanted to come ratting and i can tell you mate it was brilliant watching the big dogs pulling long tails from up in the hawthorn hedges ,we got some canny numbers too aaahh them were the good old days. mind you our ferrets used to get hammered from the longtails and we lost a fair few from injuries

i agree with having a bit of excess wieght on your dog prior to starting the season it will drop off after a weeks graft and your dog ends up looking great!

  20. well lads /lasses i was up at my keeper mates the other night and a local farmer popped in to tell him he had just finished cutting a field and a few cubs had been present,so the big gun came out of the cabinet and into the 4x4 we went .the keeper had an idea where these cubs were likely to be so he set up in the far corner of the field and started calling for a fox .nothing appeared for more than an hour and then! a scrawny little cub came through the hedge and sat tight no ammount of calling would make it come in, then out the corner of my eye i spotted another [cub?] with what i thought wa
