  7. late 70s most dogs were collie crosses and seen plenty do fox single handed i owned a one called glen who took 5 in one night he hated them with a passion from a very early age and through this dog a lot of lads pups were schooled in the art of killing fox

  13. well if its not bloody rats eating my pigeon corn its woodies eating my cabbages, so the rifle was packed and off i went to see what was about. i stood around hoping i might get a rat but nothing about [good] i heard a woody in the sycamore tree at the top of the garden ,a quick scan and i have it in my sights so a quiet cock of the rifle and a gentle squeeze of the trigger sends it tumbling down stone dead not even a flap of the wings . 5 minutes passed before another woody landed on top of my gate i placed the cross hairs on its chest and it fell backwards , as i was about to leave a loud

    hunting ban

i used to hunt with dogs but do a bit of air rifle shooting and i would NEVER shoot a hare, its to gracious to just shoot i firmly believe only a running dog should have the privelage of takeing its life. a keeper i know feels the same way and wont allow any of the lads to shoot them ,hes old school and lets a few local lads do a bit of coursing ,so what im saying is not all shooters kill every thing put in front of them. some good threads on this topic fck the ban

  20. most dogs will learn to mark rabbit warrens mate it comes quite natural if you go rabbitting a lot on the subject of lurchers a collie whippet is the one i would go for as i bred a litter for a friend and they were great i work a cocker now and she does the job of marking sets for the keeper and never faulse marks [i didnt train her to do this ]atb billy
  21. well seems like i was wrong matt a lot of people stil use springers,i use the rapid 7 mk 2 and it has accounted for hundreds if not thousands of rabbits magpies rats squirrels etc but each to there own mate
  22. i was fortunte to own a 1st cross collie greyhound in the 70s and they done there job with ease .they came in handy when keepers caught you and tried to get heavy handed they would gaurd you so i think the collie side had the gaurding instincts.
