    It's generally thought that windier nights are the best but I've noticed that sometimes the rabbits don't venture that far out when the winds howling, I prefer nights with a strong breeze and light drizzle. But that said when the conditions are suitable just get out there and keep at them and enjoy it.

    haue you seen the dog in question they could be little more than scratches. The clue could be in the opening post mate, eg- "he had loads of little nicks/grazes on him". Sounds like nothing to worry about to me, as socks wrote, let the dog get on with it.

    As said above get yourself a copy of Purdey's Progress and take a look at it. As for books, Joe Irving's "Gundogs their learning chain" is well worth a read, would think you'll learn plenty from it.

    Depends how long you want to go out for, if as I'd guess the lamp has a 50 watt bulb you'd be good for over 2 hours with that battery depending on how often the lamp was on. I used one of those batteries with a lazerlight [50 watt bulb] a few years ago and used to be out for round about 3 hours before the battery went down.

    Have you tried using a 50 watt bulb? Don't think there will be much difference and the battery will last twice as long.
