  1. hows it goin scruff, what do ya lamp if ya dont mind me asking, i presume its shooting as ya looking for a lamping dog??
  2. im hoping they will be rory, i picked the only broken coated bitch of the litter! the bitch is a little missile at bout 24 inches, mainly for long ears and the dog is a bigger rougher dog, 26 inches and very goog at all game. fingers crossed! and the price is right really when ya consider jabs and all.
  3. hows it goin mate, i dont argue that the lads are dedicated to their sport they are, they want numbers others want single handed sport, each to their own i suppose but you have pretty high standards for s single handed fox dog......... 7/8 in one night and again the night after..... i dont like knockin anyones dogs except my own if needs be but i aint seen too many capable of this feat... and i dont know how the boys rate the dogs they ran on that vid and maybe they not even their best ones, but i can def say that some of them def wouldn't be capible of these numbers single handed, now some
  4. diff between three lurchers and 40 hounds is that its a totally different type of sport mate and even with 40 hounds thet dont take so many on the run, usually if good enough run to ground where again one dog then works him. even with 40 hounds you wouldn't get 1/4 the amount of fox as you would with lurchers doubled up. two good lurchers maybe 1-2 min course and onto the next field. 40 hounds and possible a couple of hours on one fox. no comparison imo... What about lads who use three or more terrier type to bush or flush from cover that catch in cover with all the dogs getting on even wi

  6. As I said before, there was deffo times in that film that one of those dogs was holding back and waiting for the other to make the first move there was,and none of the dogs were any good to hit the ditches, they gave up too easy.a good fox dog should be smashing into cover after the fox not pulling up at the ditch. totally agree, they were getting the numbers doubled up but as soon as charlie hit d ditch dogs were commin straight back...... not my opinion of a great dog either, most good single handed dogs ive seen or worked will follow him to the end of the earth, many catch em a
  7. i hunted my beagles over christmas and we had a few inches of snow, best day of the season by far, got two great runs for miles and put to ground, hounds were tired goin home that evenin and terriers happy!!
  8. anti on a trawl hahaha wudn think so are the laws not diff for N.I THINK THEY ARE think its illegal to take deer with any dogs mate even in N.I. .......wouldn't fancy your lurchers chances all the same!!!!
  9. five times eh mate, think you put your point across dont you lol, how did that happen.... dont know mate but i would never take you shooting, you got a bloody itchy trigger finger it seems now we know why your called run for your life!!!! trigger happy lunatic!!!
  10. haha, have to agree with his post tho!!
  11. tough bout of luck mate, can never mind a good one, hope she will come right for ya. atb.
  12. No probs.atb dell i agree that foxes need to be controlled, and the more that are taken is an advantage to alot of people, i.e gun clubs, chicken farms and several others. i have been shooting game for many years and always believed the more foxes that could be shot, dug, snaired, and killed the better, but in recent years im getting alot more pleasure out of hunting foxes than i ever did out of shooting game so ya could say fox is game to many lad. so that said i dont like to hammer em as much any more and keep a handful local to knock my sport out of. when we were shooting them har
  13. i agree with most, nobody works my dogs but me, my old man excersives them everyday and worked dogs since he was a kid back in the day but would never take off any of mine as the responsibility is too high, the time and effort put into a pup to bring it to working standard is mad, so i think anyone that has done this with a dog wont even ask to borrow another mans dog as he'd nkow he wouldn't like to give his companion to anyone. i know none of my friends would never ask me for a dog or i would never ask them, if you really want to see them work its very easy go together, responsibility not an
  14. for one job, around holes!! takes more hardship than others i have and dont mind gettin caught so keep him for that job only.
  15. That'll be why I like him. Been looking for a pup from a similar cross (don't mind if there was collie in the mix) for the last 9mths but everything has Bull or Saluki in it, each to his own but Bull/Saluki isn't something I'm after. If you are still looking for a pup i no he has got a litter from Butlers half brother If you could PM me details that'd be great but I'd better be clear (don't want to waste your time ), I am looking for a pup that is weeks old not months and though I don't mind a bit of travel, I am up in Northumberland! they are about 12 weeks i think. bu
  16. i agree to an extent, there are alot of bad bull hounds out there. i lost faith in them for awhile aswell, its not like keeping another type of lurcher where if you rear from a pup and it turns out not so good at its job then its doomed, where as with several other crosses they can and do have multiple uses and can excel in other area's and also some do as good a job around a hole as a bull cross. its my opinion that bull cross have limited uses and if they not much good round a hole then the odds are well stacked against them in my opinion. now i no there are plenty of these that do all game
  17. you'd get a few squid for one of these of the game dealer all the same!!
  18. ive said it to ya before mate he looks the biz, how tall is he?
  19. got it eventually, i donated and can now put up pics, this lad wud have been sum test as 3 of us couldn't budge it once i shot him.
  20. this lad was one i got last year, i shoot deer, where he fell we had to get a tractor and front loader to put him in the trailer, we couldn't move him at all without it so have a tink of your options before ya slip!! have got a few reds since not as big tho and have seen good dogs on em that take the occasional one but not the monsters, and always doubled up! sorry lads, cant seem to upload pics, keeps tellin me they are too big to upload....
  21. Just lately there has been a few members complaining about the number of anti's on this forum. If you ever wondered why the answer is above. If you feel the need to do it [droppers] do it, but ffs don't post about it on an open forum. well said tote, agree with ya totally, we all do our fair share of this and that but most of it stayes in the field where it should!! video recorders and working dogs together in the field are a receipy for trouble!!
  22. Thanks a million for reply lad. I not fully sure what I want/nedd. I am looking for a small dog to do rabbits and odd fox. A very good friend has offered me a whippet x hound x collie. So hopefully will try her. You might pm the details of liiter. Many thanks Good hunting Johnny johnny, hows it goin? what hounds you huntin, are they your own or a registered pack? just curious as i have a pack myself. and im not a million miles from where the terrier n lurcher show is on, im only in tipp.
  23. we all know the score with training dogs and what has to be done but i wouldn't be a fan of putting up video's of it.... well done lads dogs look great and well cared for but the video is only food for anti's and doesn't do hunting any favours. just my opinion!
  24. hi mate, i wouldn't panic, i have a pack of beagles and vary their diet between nuts and flesh, if i give them fresh deer carcas today then the pen is like there was a herd of cattle in it during the night!! jet black goo all over the place.... after a few more days of flesh they settle back a bit but always with dogs on flesh the pens will always be dirtier,
  25. There are plenty of very good track dogs each year that are finished through injury by the time they are two years old. i think thats what he was saying mate, finished at 2 through injury so career over so in turn useless, obviously not useless for breeding but i dont think this chap is looking for breeding stock as he states worker. any dog retiring from track at 2 has a pretty serious flaw!!
