  1. i posted this on a similar topic a couple of weeks back, its my experience of full greyhounds. hope its of some use!just to add my 2 cents, ive had 4 full hounds in the last few monts to try get sumtin decent to breed a lurcher from, all got from local trainers, and all bitches, 1st........... track bitch, 2 years old, not upto scratch on track, shy, nervous. zero prey drive, no recall, dead loss, ran away one got a snap from charlie, even with other dogs. 2nd........... track bitch, 4 year old, won a couple of races, not hectic ped so not worth breeding pure breds from, gamey..ish.. bad
  2. stunning example mate, your buddy has a cracker.looks very racey,
  3. i agree with whats been said before, beddy whippet grey, beddy whippet x collie hound are anything similar, loyal and hard working imho and experience. atb
  4. dont think you will be disappointed with this mix if you get it from proven stock. have had similar bred ones and some have been little belters, usually around the 24" mark but as they have several breeds in the make up they could come any way!! hope this helps you some bit, i am big into the wolly racey type lurcher, atb.
  5. could be the start of mange, if you can get NOROMECTIN pour on for cattle, its a blue liquid it is great for any mite/flea/mange/tic problem. use a syringe and use 1ml per 15lb dog weight. just squirt it under the hair on the back of its neck. i use it on all my dogs and find it brillient for all the above plus all types of worms, i.e tape worm, ring worm, round worm, lung worm... generally give all the dogs a shot of it every 5 or 6 months and it keeps em shining and thriving.
  6. good man, if j darcy isn't complaining about it i dont think there is out wrong. id be hoping that i could participate in any of the topics here and be treated equally... as a fellow hunting man/woman.if ithought i could help you by answering any queries or questions you have id def reply as thats what this is supposed to be all about. look at whay ray did to help the newcommer saxon during the year.
  7. little belters folks, top marks, love this cross but my personal preference is one thats that bit taller to do other game along with bunnies, very nice.
  8. as i hunt a handy pack of beagles i know first hand how scent does change and sometimes appear to have disappeared! but im not so sure if this is down to the fox's ability to change its smell or simply just weather conditions, id be strongly going with the latter tho! any terrier here will enter and work any fox vixen or dog the exact same all times of year, have dug plenty of heavily preg vixens and they would be stink.... just my experience of it.
  9. best patts in eire my arse! I happen to be from tipp and not to far away from where booth was stabled at all! i can but wont name a couple of older local diggin lads who had great patts that booth saw work and offer massive money for them as he had to have them for breeding.... i dont know anyone who gave him uot tho, the stories locally about him aren't good anyway any these are from guys that would know. again gossip to some but i dont mind, i know the score with this guy.
  10. top marks to you bird, its an awful pity there is not more men with similar views as yourself around. very few young people getting into hunting or lamping, round my way anyway and a bit of good advice and encouragement to new commers is invaluable. i was very impressed reading this topic and it seems your very kind gesture has made a big impression on saxon, great to see him show his appriciation and seems a very decent guy also. big thumbs up to both, atb
  11. its always said that a bitch matures faster than a dog but as you no there are exceptions to all rules mate.if your taking him out with the bitch or a dog thats working properly and he is watching em work you would be surprised how much he is learning. great experience for em to watch how its done properly. atb.
  12. fingers crossed bud! what way they bein bred?
  13. ov corse the owner is on u thick man he wouldnt put just any photos on ov a random litter what are you talking about. mr brook hadn't stated he owned the sire when i asked about him. not a very good first few posts commin on callin people thick when you dont know what i was even asking... read prop in future. see your mistake yet???? i said the owner of HIM not them, i kinda figured he owned the litter when he said my pups.... you plank.
  14. Yes he is my dog credit to ya mr brook, love this type of dog, he is identicle to the sire of my new pup and im hopin he will turn out similar. what way is he bred exactly? has he done much?
  15. the long and the short of this topic is looking for opinions on the dog. nobody is entitled to critise anyone else's opinions. ive only been on this a short while and it seems you always get one or two lads who bicker and go off in a tangent to the actual topic and end up with one of two things, 1- the enivitable my dog is better than yous and come over and i'll prove it..... or 2- acting the lad and talking about punching the head off lads........ stick to the hunting opinions lads. paddy should come back to us in a few months and let us know how the dog does once rested and a bit more experi
  16. hows it goin, there is a lad on donedeal sellin a litter of nice pups, they should be good allrounders, i just bought one, the mother is flyin on hare an the dog is a great allrounder, sire is deerhound greyhound bedlington, the dam is 7/8 hound 1/8 collie. pups are crackers. check out the pics on donedeal anyway mate, should do all game with ease. this was my reply to this chaps post. as i said to him should be good allrounders not soley coursing dog. nice to have options.... i have seen the dam on hare and she is outstanding,
  17. thats not a jacker, the lad doesn't seem to know the score with this situation all he knows is the dog stopped running and wants to know if it will happen again. read into the situation not just the words. the dog DID NOT JACK. he burned out, without doubt. plus my friend you have just proven to everyone you are in no position to comment on this topic and tell this inexperienced guy what to do. first time stopping for this dog rit..... you say "shoot it", yet you say about your terrier that you gave it several chances and kept trying it.. so obviously YOU didn't "shoot it" when i thought you w

  22. sorry for asking probably a stupid question but ive got a reputation of 2 on my profile.. what does this mean and is it good or bad? i know im in runnin dog section sorry.
  23. my very first lurcher was a 3/4hound 1/4 collie. had her from pup and brought her on. she was brillient, i bought my first car from her ability to catch rabbits, every single one of em from first to last back to hand without a mark, we often had over 30 live bunnies commin home with us in a night, lads soon got sick of comming out with me tho cause a bag of bunnies gets very heavy after a while!! i strongly reccomend em.
  24. most toggle switches will fit where you take out the old push button one, look for a toggle with an 10mm thread mount, as thats the size of the hole in the handle when you take out your old one, they have them on ebay anyway as was said already. if your stuck for one ill have a root around, i prob have one that will fit. try ebay first tho as im in EIRE!!
  25. What a good level headed post cheers wilf, he did ask for an opinion so i gave my 2 cents, sum guys on here seem determined to post outragous comments and then go into defensive mode once anyone questions their theorys!! atb,
