  1. I take my lurchers (and terriers) as pups, age depends upon what time of year they were born, 16wks upwards. I would have been horrified at the thought of young pups out ratting several years ago, but have learned since then. You see the pups are not even remotely interested in the rats, and that is not the reason for taking them along. They go along for socialisation at an age they are receptive to everything around them without fear. They learn not to be afraid off or aggressive towards other dogs acting in frenzied hunt/kill mode. Get used to new dogs and people in new surroundings, and
  2. We call them Baffies also..what you have to remember.. Moll is from a foreign county...some thing along the line's of scottish X english.. Both of you......
  3. Ditto Where did you move from?
  4. I haven't the foggiest what Baffies are BD It's an old Canon 400D slr Darren I dont think i was actually about to take a shot there Millet, i was just looking through the lense thingy to see if i could see the targets The little one is, the bigger is a greyhound x.
  5. He was running on some quite difficult terrain David for over 8 hrs, and has several cuts on his bad leg so i was expecting him lame today. But he is sound Up till dinner time i had a tea shirt, fleece and jacket on, sun came out for about a half hour so i removed the fleece Lovely weather for the day tbh. Not the normal finger and toe paining cold you have during the season, and not too hot for the dogs Thanks Ray, bullies do love their rabbits. I think with rabbiting they are getting a full day/night of constant adrenalin rushes and rewards. And isn't it always the way,
  6. Thank you very much everyone I wish mine were as nice Albert. I cant remember now Joel, have a look on Woodga's profile or signature, I'm sure he has it on there I did think it wasn't Vetch, thanks Dean
  7. IMO, Durham animal feeds is better quality, with better variation than the stuff Millet gets
  8. Firstly i would just like to say to all the pompus, self righteous, stuck up their own arse moaners. I do not give a rats arse, if in your opinions, protocol, procedure and perfection have not been adhered too. I have had an absolutely FANTASTIC day out doing 'a bit of this an that' with friends, i am not forcing anyone else to do what i do or claiming i do it right. So if anyone feels .....A waste of a bull cross, their sport is being shown in a bad light, illegal use of dogs, not proper ferreting dogs, heaven forbid more than one dog on a rabbit, or any of the other crap i hear......click
  9. After a quick search i have figured it out. Omegathelast hates bull x's with a vengeance. He really must start to practice a bit of what he preaches though... "in reality I think there are probably more bad Hancock Bull cross owners, than bad Hancock bull cross dogs"
  10. .....must be a proper collie cross A bull cross monstrosity or a 'bitza terminator cross the legend destroyer' would retrieve the landowners stock half dead, eat the rabbbit whole whilst performing a lap of honour half hour retreive (to itself) and come back to command..well err screams and shouts......err eventually. Oh and kill your best ratting terrier and ferrets for free......I cringe and despair to think how many of these so called lurchers will be, and are already, in destitute animal rescues. Shameful. What are you on about?
  11. Sorry we have no imagery here....after i sat for 15 mins (slow comp) waiting
  12. REALLY like that collar, not too fussy with too much bling. Understated and classy
  13. Maybe your Inadequate Millet ha and Moll's had a sneaky browse lol Moll is no-where near Millets PC They must be just random ad's as well, i keep getting ones for tutu's
  14. Might be better for you if you can get this moved into the taxidermy section Digger http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/forum/121-taxidermy/
  15. All sorts of crosses, they are a valuable part of the team. Especially in places with high cover
  16. Especially when you are lucky enough to have such good company Miles. Working dogs on land like that is fantastic, but having as much of a laugh as we did makes it even better
  17. I think initially towns folk will stay in the towns, country folk in the country. You would have to stay with what you know. Country folk would have to rally and join forces as the eventual lack of diesel/petrol etc would mean going back to old methods for farming, more hands make light work, you would work because you would want your share of produce to survive. The availability of animals for meat, arable, (the knowledge and means to do it), more people keeping poultry for eggs and meat, gun ownership and enough 'old timers' who can remember the days before......... would mean a better c
  18. My sister is an ENT nurse. Say's you should put nothing smaller than your elbow in your ear The biggest cause of ear problems is through using cotton buds
  19. Whole different generation of forum users now Millet Woodga is off line at the mo untill next week.
  20. Actually that statement is not quite as wrong as it sounds. If i am away hunting for a day, i still have to make my own food when i get home, sort the other dogs, tidy up, sort other animals etc. And the day after will be trying to fit in the cleaning i was unable to do, plus work, plus everything else. When a man hunts he 'generally' (Not always i know but mostly) has a partner at home, who cooks. cleans, even sorts any dogs still at home when he is out hunting. I know i struggle to keep on top of everything. Fit in work, looking after the animals (exercising, cleaning etc) gardening,
