  1. No it's not. It is a mongrel. The Chi or Yorkie are not working dogs First of all a lurcher by definition is a sighthound crossed with any other breed of of dog. Years ago the word lurcher may have only meant working dog or terrier crossed with a sighthound but not any more. Secondly a yorkie is a terrier which was bred for killing rats in clothing mills. Thats a working dog mate. And although the modern chihuahua is bred primalrily as a companion theyve been purposely scaled down over the years from a wild dog in mexico that survived by hunting all sorts of small mammals. Incorrect.

  8. Have to say i was most impressed with your little Pat, you talk about Keepa (Now you know why she is called the tank ), your black lass was the same in amongst all the time a cracking little worker. Just wish the action had been in places i could have gotten more photos We were in the sheds/smell more yesterday. This morning when i woke up i could literally taste it, every time i sniff or cough i still can Cannot seem to smell it on the dogs or in the house any more, i am now worried i am so used to the smell my house now stinks of it and i cannot tell. Will have to watch visitors faces

  11. There are just so many variable to training that it is impossible to cover everything in a post. Type of dog (Not just breed but the individual dog) type of trainer type of training type of prey expectations of dog = type of hunting/prey required situations. And variables within the variables!
  12. Hence her not making the 2nd day Marv. Most of the bites end up inside her mouth. And as usual, she has no nails left, just stumps for toes
  13. Both days we had rain in the morning. Then it got out lovely and sunny, although too hot for the dogs. The first day when we got over 194 we had only ratted for under 3hrs. Some of the shots where it looks like the dogs are in deep wet mud....it isn't mud And that was shallow, in some places it was thigh high, at one point Millet had to pull keepa out, she was literally swimming in it
  14. I could get used to having a ratting trip and still being able to feel my fingers and toes after a few hours with the sun on my back...heaven I've also decided not to write a great deal about this trip, a few different lads from here were invited with their dogs and having had two 4am starts, with busy days and filthy dogs to sort i am completely knackered, i am crap with names normally so now cannot remember at all And it is about time others joined in with their accounts of the days It was our first time at a large poultry farm. Day one was Wednesday, we caught a minimum of 194
