  4. lurcher... bitch i used was whippet/saluki lurcher x whippet / saluki lurcher I've got to agree with Chid. I wouldn't want a pure greyhound adding to an established line/type of lurcher
  5. cross it with a fast, proven collie lurcher or a wizz banger coursing type would be my second choice
  6. my latest ratching mate, 16 months have flown by. line bred collie x grew, with an outcross to saluki whippet on the dam's side.
  7. I know that land well. And some of those faces look familiar too.

  9. I've not tried Altberg, but Haix are top notch. 3 pair in this household, and not one complaint and they have been through all kinds of muck and bullets. Day in. Day out.

We could do with some around here. I bought a plough and gritter a couple of years ago and need to make my money back!
  11. High protein, low-ish fat out of season. then move on to lower protein, higher fat content when in hard work. Add in sardines, veg and raw meat when needed. I wouldnt give maize to any dog, thats carp bait.
  12. I don't think there are any contra-indications to useing the AB's you mention together at the same time. Add the Noraclav in to your existing treatment. Using two AB's together can have a synergistic effect
  13. we dream of pastures that green around here. And flat
  14. Very true Jai, the number of mentally stable collies get smaller and smaller each year. The last few years I have been doing a fair few jobs for smallholdings, and some of the mixed breed farm dogs that I have met on them has been an eye opener. they are "collie types" but few are pure bred.Terrier, GSD even labs have appeared in their dim and recent past. Whilst they are not the capable herding dogs that you would find on larger farms, they are however blessed with a more stable disposition. Capable of driving or holding sheep (not herding as such) but will tackle cattle, goats, pigs when nee
  15. my names paul ,am from basingstoke Christ, you crumble easily!
  16. Psycho b*****ds Don't like 'em much but like some in my dogs???????? Cheers, D Amen to that.
  17. Aye, some folk seem to think that keeping dogs is a money saving exercise.
  18. personally I would be cleaning it with salt water then hibiscrub alternatively before it got to that stage. Once it gets infected, vet job. It may cost but you have proof of duty of care. Just choose your vet wisely To answer the question directly, It may have an effect, but it would be limited. Oral preparations are "structured" so as to be stable through the gastric tract. As such dissolved in a little water, the major benefit would be from the syringing, not the AB.
  19. its not illegal to inject your own dog ... its not illegal to inject your own dog ... That's quite right it's not. If you use a farm based vet they will sell you a bottle £15 You would need a holding number for that
  20. Take it from me. They do diminish in effectiveness. The date stated will guarantee effectiveness up to that date. Most AB's are fairly stable so 6 months on to the end date should be fine. I know that from working for, and owning pharmaceutical companies in the past 25 years
  21. They do go out of date. They may not harm the dog but will not be as effective. Upto 6 months over should be ok
  22. Because they're delicious, but to be fair to a great bird I'd rather give them a sporting chance. If a lurcher is catching them then there's a good chance they're just after coming in from their migration and are weak. The full moon at the moment means they've more or less just landed. I shoot them (when I'm lucky enough) and if any of you lads are lucky enough to get one in the bag thanks to your lurcher do yourself a favour and have him for your dinner, just give the head to your ferret. Strangely I always leave the head on, as traditions favours, when serving them roast for a number
