  1. Because they're delicious, but to be fair to a great bird I'd rather give them a sporting chance. If a lurcher is catching them then there's a good chance they're just after coming in from their migration and are weak. The full moon at the moment means they've more or less just landed. I shoot them (when I'm lucky enough) and if any of you lads are lucky enough to get one in the bag thanks to your lurcher do yourself a favour and have him for your dinner, just give the head to your ferret. Strangely I always leave the head on, as traditions favours, when serving them roast for a number
  2. There are plenty of unproven stories on FB that grind peoples gears, but they've been found guilty - they need to answer to their piers. They deserve whatever turns up un their doorstep.
  3. I've had one before that would take the odd one on the lamp, but the 15 month old pup I have at the minute catches them out of the rush and bog behind our place. No lamp, just hunts them up and comes scratching at the back door. It's one of the few things she wont eat if left to her own devices
  4. Physically the dog is A1, I'm not worried at all. Just surprised
  5. I imagine that she would do the same successfully if owld puss clamped down and spun off mid run. But been just a little cur, that would never happen
  6. Aye, seen her and others do it when playing. but never use it in the field. She does it when the rabbit turns just as her front feet touch the ground
  7. I've a young dog, 15 months, just starting her first proper season. All is going well, catching from an early age and continuing to add to her repertoire. I seen a few odd habits in dogs over the years, but this one is a first. When a rabbit is pressured enough to turn sharp away from cover etc, rather than the dog bend with the rabbit, mid stride, she flings her back end around and lands backwards on her haunches and sets off again. At first I thought it just puppy behaviour, but I've seen her do it enough times to know that she does it for good reason. I'm not complaining because it works for
  8. Captain A.Graham recreated the wolfhound. the purebreeds are little more than charactatures of what would have been a magnificent animal. Having said that, I have read of some of the Aussie lads adding it to pig dogs.
  9. good luck I've always been a collie x man, but wouldn't be without my anchorman
  10. make her go vegetarian, she will come round soon enough. If not, do her up the wrong 'un so she has something to grumble about.

  19. I've had a pair for a year now. Very comfy and stand up well to hard use. Down side is they are heavy and costly (but worth it) but the lace hooks are flimsy compared to those used by Haix.
  20. I've had a pair of HAix Tibet for 2 1/2 years. Lived in them at times. Been through all kinds of muck, wet, sh#t. Covered miles in them. Never let me down and never leaked. WIfe has 2 pairs and she is the same. Like all leather boots, keep them well treated and dry gently. And get a half size extra if you wear thick socks
  21. Even his portrait would need to be in landscape format.
