Cheap crap air rifles for bunnies
rossi_j replied to Rake aboot's topic in General Airgun Discussion
With regards to the cfx mate I can vouch for it, it can group that is for sure, the trigger is not the best and it shoots with a twang but it will group and I would use it to hunt. Its funny because the same couple of rifles crop up again and again, after what phantom has said I may give it a grt trigger and a strip down and polish ect, just to see what it realy is capable of. I wouldent go as far as to say it could match the top rifles mentioned here but telling people they can not hunt with it because it is cheap is rubbish. Everyone is just going round in circles here lol We are jus -

Thanks shay not sure about security here mate, maybe in a couple of the buildings but no main gate ect. (They havent noticed me late at nite checking out bugz lol). Cheers davy that would be great I dont think a miss spelt porely laid out letter from me would get the desired effect. Its got to be worth a try the rabbits dont move for cars and just sit next to the road it feels like if you got out the car quick enough you could grab one lol Thanks for the advice. I will google it. .atb. .ste. Steve rest up mate, iv been roped into going out for a meal tonite, the mrs gave me the

Hey mole, I dont think anyone was trying to single you or your hatsan out, I understand where you were coming from with regards to cheap air rifles doing a job. They do do a job but there are limitations, I think maybe you just pushed your opinions a little hard, there are a lot of guys here who realy know there stuff, I know si knows what cheap rifles are capable of himself and at no point did he discredit hatsans so your post on rog3rs thread was bang out of order and needless. I did not agree with the topic of that thread saying cheap air rifles are not for hunting but respected that guys

Nice one brad, getting out there is the best way to learn, great write up buddy its not all about bagging up, im like you happy to be out and a couple in the bag is a bonus, its the days you dont bag up that realy make you appreciate the days you do in my experiance .atb. .ste. Keep up the good posts pal Sp for knowing when not to take the risky shot, thats a good way to go about shooting and shows you are a responsible lad.

Been planing to go out with my shooting buddy steve, unfortunatly he has been struck down with man flu and hasnt been able to get out, not wanting to decimate the bunny population on our small shared permission without him as it would be rubbing salt into his man flu wounds I am waiting patiently for his recovery lol. I have told him to man up but to no avail Personaly I recon he was on a promise so fobbed me off ha ha only joking bud. Cant wait to get out now, bugs and chums have had a nice little rest and should be out in force when we get out (hopefully). Get well soon pa

Sory mole im with si there, im all for making do with a cheap gun (as I have done) aslong as it is accurate and you can shoot well, I can shoot reasonably well with a cheap rifle I own (after lots of practace), but your going a bit far saying that its better than the top springers on the planet, I make do with mine, make do being the key words, yes I can shoot with it, yes I can drop quarry with it, would I chop it in for a top make given half a chance?? You better belive it. With regards to the trigger your going to be on your own there pal. Shorely you dont think you have bought a w

Get the best rifle you can afford weather it be a hatsan, gamo, aa, wierach. You will do mutch better with the top brands at decent ranges, if you cant afford that gear choose a cheaper rifle very carefully, cheaper rifles will not match the top end rifles end of. However if the rifle is running with good power and you can make consistantly accurate shots with it then its o.k whatever it is, you may only be able to achieve this out to 20yds with some rifles more with others. My mates had a hatsan and shot fine with it as I have with a s/h gamo cf-x, both of us in all honesty because we dident

Cheap crap air rifles for bunnies

A crap rifle in capable hands is a lot better that a great rifle in crap hands, My gamo cf-x could (tested on target and has taken one or two on occasions) consistantly take rabbits at 30yds ish, however it is not my rifle of choice as I own a better rifle wich I prefer, but If i Couldent afford a better rifle, would I let someone tell me I cant hunt with my gamo because they dont like it, I would laugh at them sat up there on that high horse of theres. Im not saying every rifle is up to the job but some are. I always try to make my kills as clean and humane as reasonably practical hense why -
Nice one pal, good shot, if you know where they come in and out of your field from try getting there before the rabbits come out and finding a good place to dig in until they arrive, probably in the fence or hedge line where they are entering your field will be a good bet, then wait for them to come into range. Sounds like you have a few bunnys around, I look forward to hearing about you bagging them all up .atb. .ste.

rossi_j replied to davyt63's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Well done davy, best of luck with the new project. It is looking a bit worse for wear but im sure with some skill, some patience, some new bits and a shed load of elbow grease your the man to nurse it bk to health. Will enjoy watching this post and rifle progress to completion .atb. .ste. -

Nice one mate, glad your all sorted and ready to go as already said you wont go wrong with one of them pal, a bit more practace and those shots will be hitting home .atb. .ste.

i see hat you mean with the skirt but i personally think they are a tad too soft (maybe why i have so many miss shaped ones in the tin??) (i'll add they are miss-shped to the point that they arnt worth using)they carry a bit too much kinetic energy for my likeing (from my gun) as a lot of shot's travell straight through the quarry having an effect of major "over kill" and i loose a few rabbis from them jumping up and running down the field till the nerves die out, thats why i opt to use the Bisley's they just drop them on the spot, wih little movement Hey mate, if over penatration is a

^as I thaught andy, also I think if the bottle is over a certain pressure and sieze, I think it is classed as a pressure vessle and you may not even be able to store it legally and the money you save will probably go on the first mandatory annular inspection. Bottles you can get for 70quid second hand, save yourself the bother mate .atb. .ste.
