    I keep several dogs and always have , but times are different and now its harder and harder to put enough stuff in front of them or even do them fairly in time on the ground. The older you get the harder it gets also LOL now I am retired and loads of time but age has its down side. I honestly think unless you just go out mooching with a pack that two dogs is more than enough nowadays if one gets an injury then you have a back up but more finding work for them is the biggest problem.

    some one like Darcy or Penny Taylor should get out and interview some of the real old time dog men. Not coursing just old school who worked every conceivable dog from terriers to lurchers bushing dogs etc. There is a wealth of knowledge and old stories out there that as the years pass will disappear for ever,. just a thought

    you cannot compare an organised coursing meeting like the waterloo with open land coursing to many variables , Just as coursing hares in some parts of the country is a totally different experience to other parts.. Personally when a quarry is running for its life it will get a move on young quarry has a lot to learn if they survive but that flight instinct is there from birth. Just as the pursuit instinct in a predator is they just have to hone and practice the skills they are born with.
