  1. Feed it well, nurture the little fecker, get it stock trained, retrieving, jumping, command orientated and chasing and catching daytime bunny,s,then get a decent lamp and make a few mistakes.
  2. Can i borrow your mate that knows a terrier is clamped tp a fox at 9ft,seriously folk on here will kiss your arse for the post you put up,reading between the lines an inexperienced terrier entered with an inexperienced owner,at least you had the savvy to look for assistance and i congratulate you for the fact you looked for it,well done mucker,im seriously disappointed you are thankful for another mute terrier, you got a result so fair play.
  3. You should have asked him how you light a candle in a wind.I used to ferret with two Seihks out of Leeds..
  4. Im a tad confused, did you rod stewart because of the effect Barbara had on you,or you just went with the flow?.
  5. Memories,Barbra Streissand must have owned a lurcher.
  6. I took my missus lamping, trailed her all the way up the Dales to some of the most inhospitable and difficult of land imaginable, she still found her way back.
  7. With my intro to hunting it was all guns, snares and night lines{fishing},ferrets and egg collecting.I vividly remember the whippet that somehow ended up amidst all this and the hours and hours i spent in the fields with that little sandy bitch,i was less than 6 years of age and can still remember, over 50 years later, how she yapped the place down on hares, she managed the odd hare that she worked off its seat and again i still remember the flying fur and how she struggled with holding on to them, she caught a bunny or two and became a useful ferreting companion, her ace in hand was her ability to
  8. if i was a fox with that pack on my scent id throw myself in front of the gun, capable looking team there mucker.
  9. What worn out and covered in mud?.
  10. A leading bone man told me to give the dog bicarb in a mutts water after it suffered with painful cramping,it worked, both the mutts that suffered where as fit as a mutt could be,i ran them to hard on a warm october afternoon and if ive ran them to hard since i always put a teaspoon of bicarb in their water, then half a teaspoon for the next couple of days, never had the problem since.
  11. Youve brought a rabbit home you plonker.
  12. With some of the beasts ive rode an horse would pose few problems?
  13. Im possibly at an advantage because i mostly hunt for pleasure now and the few occasions that i need to hunt to control a pest on request are infrequent and i don,t seek such situations now, again im fortunate to be in such a situation and my mole trapping for the said landowners is my ace in the pocket. Its refreshing to agree to disagree with somebody on here and yet still share the same basic hunting values.
  14. My post was more tongue in cheek than anything else mucker.Again im a massive Collie lurcher fan and any attempt to produce another is a step in the right direction.I don,t rate first crosses as there is to much litter wastage, the more capable collie lurchers are often sourced from lurcher to lurcher breeding, but the only way to start that process is through a first cross.Im all for a free supper, ale and a bed,if a pup is thrown in as well then im yer man,now all i need is somebody to chip in for my travelling expenses.
  15. I rarely have the lurchers on a leash, they hunt with the bushers and react to what the bushers are doing,if i had them on a slip their reaction time would be such that many a flush, from the bushers, would be missed. Now i don,t mind missing the odd flush and find it part and parcel of any hunt, yet i prefer to let the mutts take advantage at what they do best without interference from the mush restricting them on a leash.Certainly there are occasions when the mutts hunting activity and instinct needs controlling by command or a leash, but on the whole my mutts are educated to take advantage of the
  16. I put nothing but rabbits in front of sapling lurchers and the terriers are entered to bunny bashing from a very early age,by the time these lurchers and terriers are aged enough to step up a level they have learnt an awful lot of hunting lessons,on bunny, that makes them better hunting jukels,on fox etc.,because of the earlier entering on the humble scut.Ive done the same for a decade or three and now its been pointed out to me that ive been doing it all wrong, ill just have to struggle on with my inferior mutts and hunting lifestyle.
  17. I rarely drink, when i do i make up for the dry periods, about 7 weeks dry at the moment, geez im due a mission.
  18. Empty the sauce down the sink mucker.
  19. If you find one of my terriers that needs assistance you can have it because it will suit you better, you crawled all over my arse for a line and a day out in the field and i knocked you back, you slavvered on about bitches that i was breeding from that where dogs or retired as pets 2 years after you stated i was breeding from them,id not wish for or want respect from a chancer like yourself mucker, but as everbody else on here you are entitled to your post and opinion.
  20. Id get rid of all my bushers and would never own another if they could not hunt rabbit, hunting the humble bunny makes a busher better at its job and where a rabbit lies so will something that wishes to dine on it.I also find that the bushers will refuse to hunt a bunny when a fox is scented and they will also refuse a mark on an occupied warren when in pursuit of reynard.A busher that won,t hunt a rabbit is certainly capable of refusing a scent more acceptable to the owner.
  21. The bitch every time and the best studs are usually related to the bitch.
  22. So its a farm worked collie that the owner also lamps and attends to the terriers, works cover on fur and feather and only sleeps at weekends.Single handed on fox and retrieves the odd belligerent steer to hand.I like Collies and admire them more than a few others,i find what they have to offer to a lurcher is a damn site more than any other mutt will ever possibly come to terms with, yet when i see a future litter and an owner on the make i cringe.
