    If you come across unlimited game then you can afford to be selective in your slips,if on the other hand you seldom see much then the dog as to take the only chance it may get.If im out and about and the dog makes a few easy catches and the night is coming to an end,ill give it a few longshots to give it more of a challenge and a better workout.

    It rarely makes a jot of difference what advice is freely given on here,to many are in to big an hurry to bang a litter through a green bitch,no planning,no research,no idea.Its the same with people saying a dog that only gets out once or twice a week is,nt seeing enough graft,really?.

    Wipac lamp,bean tin taped to the middle and a 2nd hand motorbike battery with more white cells than grey,coats,trousers and bags destroyed with acid and scars on the back of the legs through spillage climbing walls.I can clearly remember lying in a puddle of water one cold winters night,trying to stop the burning on the calfs through spillage,i thought i had a sweat itch from my arse to my ankles,until the soreness and cracked battery alerted me otherwise,happy days.

    Catching one can sometimes be far more rewarding than struggling under a sack full,the day ,the company,the craic,is more important than the burden of numbers.

    There is no right and wrong answer to this,any terrier or terrier x will bush to a very high standard,if the owner puts the time in, a spaniel will do the business,it should its had centuries of breeding behind it, a beagle or beagle x will not let you down.For me,a bedlington has no equal,a nose that cannot be matched,more athletic than most,a good turn of pace and a do or die attitude.Once youve had the pleasure of seeing a true Beddy at work,anything else is second best.

    An unruly pup that otherwise refuses to succumb to basic training may well benefit from the attention of a testoterone fuelled tup,better to be hard on a dog to reinforce training,than have a dog that cannot be trusted and later culled.

    Get it in and amongst them,on a lead,do this time after time after time,i find it best to do this when the youngster as burnt off a few calories away from them,it is then more attentive to its surroundings.When the youngster shows no interest in them,whilst on a lead,let it off,walk through stock,time after time after time,the pup will react differently to standing stock as opposed to stock running away,be aware and ready for this,the more it see,s stock and realises its a no go,the sooner it will respect them.When you are happy the jukel is stock broken,train it again.

    Beddys were prominent in the early Lakey and black fell breeding,they seem to have coped well enough with an entire tail,mind you their appearance better lends itself to a full tail,a Lakey or Fell type does,nt,some say a terrier at work is restricted with a full tail,which i find hard to accept,i feel its more for appearance than anything else.

    My first wife gave me the oft used ultimatum, me or the dogs,i bought her a one way ticket back to sunny Belfast,our lass now would never ask of me the same,she knows what an important part of my life they are,if push came to shove and the question was asked,the dogs would have to go,if it meant that much to her it would be a small sacrifice to make, a good dog is easy enough to find and train,i could,nt do with looking for another lass and training her up to my exacting standards.

    what lads was that on wbf,as some of them wouldnt know one end of a dog from the other and some dont even own dogs.in saying that there is some good lads on there who know their stuff and dont talk utter bollox.good luck with your pup,who bred it If you don,t put the graft in,no terrier will make,a good beddy is an excellent addition to the team,whippety did,nt they suss you out on the wbf and you left dragging your tail.

    There as and always will be a small minority that are incapable of conducting themselves in any sort of reasonable manner,pre-ban or not.The internet gives them a wider audience now,before computers they were mainly isolated and devoid of the audience and recognition they crave,now its far to easy for these social rejects to amuse one another and keep in touch and sadly attract others of their ilk.They masquerade as lurcher,terrier,shooting or other hunting types,they are not really interested in the hunting side of things,it is a means to an end with them,sooner or later they will drift off a

    There are an awful lot of Beddy,s about,the amount that are advertised as workers and the ones that actually work are quite a different matter,some think a terrier bushing about and ratting makes for a worker,nothing wrong with that type of work as long as the owners are honest and keep it real,because it is,nt a working terrier.There are a few dedicated lads about that are breeding towards the original type of Beddy,in looks and more importantly working ability,the pups are greatly sought after,thats why some unscrupulous breeders are advertising working type Beddy,s,to gain from the situatio
