Why would it need to,lurchers usually run on whats in front of them, why run without purpose, its often the owner not the dog that needs the education,if a lurcher needs to pursue there is often something it wants to chase and catch and not what an inexperienced owner wishes it to come to terms with.

Dogs miss their share to run again, bullets, with all the modern technology that assists the poorest of shots, kills or maims,id rather a poacher ran an hare and missed it than a shooter shot it for shooting sake,as this is a lurcher section i may or may not be in a minority,as for the shooting section, pseudo dogmen that find it easier to look after a gun than a dog. Right, first and foremost i'm a dogman, have been for over 25 years and been around them for over 40 years. The rifle is a relatively new thing for me after my boss insisted on it as part of my job. This other land in question i

Ive kept dogs and ill say it,the most obedient and loyal, the easiest to train and get along with, have been of the female persuasion, easier to enter, easier to mould and educate, easier to please have usually been the bitches, dogs have usually been the easiest to get the hard work done, bitches have usually been capable earlier.

Fuji, your getting closer and closer to Airedale, bugger off. -
The first lion would possibly finish the dogs lack of manners, have you never listened to David Attenborough?,the trouble with some lurcher owners now is they honestly believe that they and their jukels could overthrow a African,or Asian pussycat, the biguns anyhows.I've smashed a few asian pussys this season already When you do them from behind and give them a reach round its not a real pussy, even with Asians, the hairy arsed ones. Every holes a goal. Seriously,if your cutting notches on the headboard,an home goal does,nt count.

I do,even the most miniscule of cuts and knocks i treat in a few moments, them few moments of care aid the dog as the season unfolds,i possibly understand your true meaning but a little care and attention is more than beneficial to the mutt as its season progresses.

Id concentrate on the sapling you now have,it will need all the time and effort you can spare for its education without the added burden of bringing on another youngster.
-
If they are housed, fed, watered and exercised correctly you will have nothing to worry about,if they are noisy barking baskets, you will have that to rectify to your neighbours satisfaction,or could face a tad of bother.
-
Id forget about whats in the mix and wanting a certain type or strain.Source a litter of lurcher to lurcher bred pups, bred from dogs that would best suit the land and type of hunting that suits your needs, the resultant pup will make for a wiser and more profitable long term hunting companion.

I looked in the kennel today and thought im not going to catch much this year. -
Tell the vet the only way fresh pork will kill a mutt is if the owner slaps it over the noggin with half a side of it.
-
Ive kept dogs in the kennel that were used soley as lampers, littermates were only used daytime. All the dogs needed resting at times and never suffered from being selectively used,in fact id say it was of benefit to them.
-
Id be looking at the parentage,if they meet the required grade then the resultant progeny should also scratch up.Forget about the breeding and percentages and concentrate on what the adults bring to the table, ill guarantee what the adults produce will also come out in the youngsters,if the kennel allows.

I beg to differ, from my experience with the breed there is more chance now of sourcing working stock, genuine working stock and not rodent chewers, than it was 20 years ago, proper working Beddys are on the resurgent, pseudo working owners bring the breed to their level, the lads about that have nothing but the breeds interest at heart will prevail, there are many honest bred and honest working mutts about that best befit the Beddy monicur.

If you have a dog then id begin to walk it more, especially around fields etc.Get on a bus and travel out 10 miles and walk back home, different route every week until you have a comprehensive knowledge of your immediate surrounding area.Whilst slowly walking home you may espy a little worthwhile opportunity.Knock a few likely farms and try and obtain permission,if the permission is not to be had, well?,be discrete and take the opportunitys at hand, leave the land as you find it.

Why?. do you work you dogs Not on kits if i can possibly help it and if the odd accident happens id be ashamed to post pics or admit to it,apart from that they get the odd run or two,no more than two a season,im past greedy. Morton whats your view then on a young dog thats ready to enter and falls in the summer ? Would you leave it till September and let it miss a couple of months or take it out and get it some early education on easy young coneys ? And as for the ground this time of year, we used to take pups to a little spot we had that was a two hour drive that was a dune sys

Youve also been on ward 4?.

Bollocks to lamping, tomorrows a scorcher and the kits will be sunbathing,im going out with the full crew to wreck the little baskets siesta.
