  1. A very Happy Birthday Craig. Do it how you want it mate!
  2. And the police wonder why their public image is not as good as it could be sometimes! What if you have to park on a public laybay to proceed on foot along a couple of hundred yards of public road to the gateway with your encased rifle as I have to on a part of mine? This is absolute rubbish and the next time some jumped up chocolate pavement admiral comes bustling up full-sale quoting so-called made-up-on-the-spot laws like this, challenge the prat as to what Justice Act these were published on so you may view them!
  3. Dear John. Have a wonderful Birthday mate and many more with all you want and nothing you don't. Cheers pal. Simon and Helen x
  4. The lower the magnification setting on your scope, the more light you'll see by until dusk becomes night. How good at light gathering the lenses are will determine how long you will be shooting before you need to switch to a lamp. Hawke Sport HD series are a real bargain. Great little scopes for very reasonable money. They are where the better quality end of Hawke's range begin in my experience. I've had Airmax and and MAP-Pro scopes of theirs that have broken under constant recoil of my spring rifles and really put me off Hawke altogether. But, there are Hawkes and there are Hawkes Th
  5. I've heard that grey squirrels can even survive a shotgun blast so, I use my HW80 for Grey Squirrels. A .22 FTT with 21ft/lbs behind it is the best power/caliber combination for these buggers. I'm not out to hurt them or injure them. A humane kill through their heads, or heart and lungs through a very tough hide sorts them out fast. I've bagged hundreds of grey squirrels with this rifle and none has ever survived a direct hit in the right spot from it.
  6. I think it really depends on how you have your rifle set up Andy. My HW80 is an absolute gem of its kind and in my hands, it's deadly. The same will count for your Gas ram Evolution. I know just how brilliant, high performance gas ram rifles are. Thus we both have a viable and efficient rifle to hunt with. There is no need to buy a beefed-up PCP for accurate hunting. A top spring or gas ram rifle will do the job just as superbly. It just requires a bit more work from the shooter to bring it together. If you like the look and feel of the TX200 ryanod90, it won't disappoint you mate.
  7. I read that these are a steel pellet within a nylon plastic skirt that somehow, gives them stability in flight as lead skirted diabolos do. Steel is a not very compliant or maliable material for making any kind of air rifle pellets. With some Weihrauch spring rifle barrels having a choked muzzle (so Weihrauch have said themselves, apparently) these will not do the crown any good. Steel pellets will not 'inflate' and conform to the rifling as efficiently with the charge of air as lead pellets do. Whatever, avoid them like the plague! Your barrel was not designed for this type of pellet.
  8. You alright there Max? Bloody hell laddie sounds like a close call. How's it shooting at longer ranges?
  9. Superb! I had a TX200 .22 on my FAC and was producing output at the 19ft/lb mark. Very sweet but, I love my FAC HW80 better! So sold the TX200 and bought my HW97K with the proceeds! But if this is what you are aiming at for your fac TX200 you'll be very pleased.
  10. You should have one spring rifle, at least, as a back-up rifle to a working-day PCP if this is for professional pest control. Best springer for FAC is undoubtedly an HW80 or HW80K .22. You won't believe how smooth and sweet these are at 21+ft/bs. Or, for sub-12 ft/lbs I would go for an HW77. Utterly superb accuracy as, you already know from experience yourself. Best wishes. Simon
  11. Didn't see the programme Craig but, I'll be keen to see what you come up with on a plate mate!
  12. I have shot with an HW100 with a thumbhole, ambidextrous stock for a full week as I was considering buying one, a few years ago. It is a superb rifle no question and I am a big fan of Weihrauch from their spring rifles. It was the fact that there was no left-hand Bavarian sporter stock version that put me off. If they made it left-handed with that stock, I may well have bought one. Fair enough, thanks. By the way have you ever used the HW100?
  13. Good to see you back and enjoying your shooting again HW97K...Or do we call you HW95 from here on??. Sincerely. Best wishes for you better health and better days shooting mate! Simon
  14. HW80 is the king of break barrel air rifles. No arguments, this is THE ONE and all the others scale down from this rifle. The HW90 is the King of Gas Rams and worthy of consideration here too... I really must say that, the HW80 and HW80K are nothing much heavy, to me at least. I mean, the rifle has to weigh something; but, around 8-9lbs or a little more with a scope, come on fellas is that really an unmanageable weight with a sling fitted? From a prone shooting position, it is an amazing rifle for hunting. A real thoroughbred. Mine is 16 years old now and I was out the o
  15. I'm no fan of PCPs with their soulless firing characteristics and limited shot counts and all the paraphenalia that goes with just getting air into the things to go shooting with....BUT...... I bought a .177 Daystate Huntsman Classic for my fiancee Helen's Christmas present, plus scopes and the whole kit and kaboodle to get her up and shooting and I'm seriously pleased and impressed with how well this rifle balances and shoots. It is incredibly accurate and consistent right to the end of the shot count per fill (about 60 if I remember from testing it.) So I reckon this new Regal version m
  16. I reckon some sauce has been swigged here and it's bringing out the brotherly love... I love you all here too and I'm into my 2nd bottle of finest single malt
  17. There are some Ambi-stock versions of the HW100 blackdug. I think the thumbhole version is. But, I haven't heard of a dedicated left-hand version of the Bavarian sporter version for us lefties!
  18. Actually, come to think of it Davy, Helen whoops my ass without a rifle in sight!
  19. "Upgrading from spring to PCP" Well if you are talking a Hatstand springer, I see how the phrase 'upgrade' might be quantified here.
  20. Seems to be a peculiarly British thing this. Knocking someone down who tries to rise above the usual level of poor, apathetic standards here. I get it for my paintings. Usually from jealous artists and their mates who haven't go the balls to work a bit harder and get on too. But heyho, I have American customers as well as some wonderful home grown ones here. And Tony and his business will thrive on the good work they do for good custom too. Beethoven had his critics. Name three of them!
  21. Awww my dear pal Silentshot1 !! Had I known that mate, I'd have pm'd you with the desired measurements. Still....Never mind, eh?!
  22. What about showing a pic or two and we'll see?
  23. That is perfect, goodsense advice. You can buy a lot of guns that offer a cheap way into shooting. These aren't so bad if you find you don't like the sport as much as you thought you would and you can write off not a lot of outlay cost. But, from your post, I think you have already had a good taste of shooting with others and want a decent rifle of your own to get started with. Think less about a budget and more of what you would ideally like from your rifle. Accuracy and reliability are the uppermost requirement. You don't want to be waiting hours for a rabbit to pop up, only to miss
  24. Thanks very much Harlequin. If there is anything further you wish to know or I can help you with, just pm or openly ask me here. I'm very keen on seeing any beginner turn himself into a proficient shooter with a spring rifle. It's not all that difficult mate, with plenty of practice and a light, supportive hold you can quickly develope into a lethally accurate shooter.. Hi Lewis. Have a shot or two with a Weihrauch, Diana or Air Arms spring rifle and you'll soon see why these names rule the roost for spring rifle shooters. Gamo are alright for plinking but, when you want to get really
