Hope You All Have A Good Day Tomorrow
pianoman replied to bigmac 97kt's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Santa was very good to my Helen this year; with a Daystate Huntsman Classic .177, airtank, hose, Hawke Sidewinder scope and a very nice hardshell case under the tree... I get mine in January.......heyho! -
Prone Position Stability
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Thank you very much indeed Steve. I'm very pleased to have been of service to you and your son with my writings here. My dad was my great shooting mentor as a youngster. A blistering shot with a .22 rimfire and no scope! I'm just passing it on. There is a wealth of knowledge unsurpassed among the lads here. They would be just as happy to help you out with a query or problem. All the very best to you and your boy for shooting in the future. And a very warm welcome to this section. Simon -
The Webster/pianoman 80. A Few Pics.
pianoman replied to andyfr1968's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Me too Webster. I love shooting with these two lovely lads and Andy is a great dad to them -and a great pal to me . I really didn't want to give my rifle away but, I want to see the boys properly set up with decent rifles to go with dad's excellent advice. And if this helps to get them shooting responsibly with bags of accuracy and reliability in reserve, I'm more than delighted! And, besides, I already own one of the very finest .22 HW80s, HW97K and HW77s Weihrauch ever made. All serviced, tuned and maintained perfectly by my dear mate here Best wishes for Christmas Andy, Oscar -
Huge Thanks To Pianoman And Webster.
pianoman replied to andyfr1968's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Just picked this up Andy you are more than welcome pal. I hope it makes as fine a rifle for you and the boys as it was for me. She's a great workhorse rifle this HW80K. Best wishes mate. Simon... PS I haven't jumped ship...I just want to enjoy another side of shooting that everyone else does. Namely multi shot capability.. I'm forever a spring rifle disciple as these I own will outclass a PCP in my hands! -
To Dip Or Not To Dip. That Is The Question.
pianoman replied to paulk73's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Might make the rifle difficult to sell should you wish to do so later on. Dipping/cammo patterning is a very personal thing and more often than not, I've heard most folk come to regret having it done when it came to selling their guns on. Think clearly before you commit. -
Hawke Panorama EV 4-12x50 IR AO . Brilliant, uncomplicated scope for the money. Go for 10x half mildot reticle version. About £150 more or less depending where you shop. Red Beck Shooting Supplies nr Wakefield do them for £130!

You are right about the Huntsman Darryl. I was out with Helen getting her better aquainted with it and tried a couple of magazines-full myself. I was knocking a few remaining crab apples off the trees at pretty respectable distances with it and without breaking a sweat. But then, I was doing that with my dearly beloved HW77 .22 as well so, I still stand by what I have written about spring rifle accuracy...Which brings me neatly to this Limited Edtion HW77 you are currently waving your refurbing magic over. I'm a lefty Darry which usually means I need special orders for my kit and about 40% -
Tx 200 With A Sling ?
pianoman replied to ryanod90's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips

Thank you sincerely Jimmy. I will never let my standards slip with my spring rifles. I am honoured to be able to give help to anyone here, who needs a hand with his springer shooting problems. Never lost a spring rifle tournament yet and don't intend to my dear friend AVB. Simon PS. Helen is coming on well with her shooting and sends her regards to you and little hunter. As do I. That moment with the HW97 with your son in-law shows what a true crack shot you are with nothing more to be said. It's great to see Little Hunter developing so well with his Stoeger, into a proper sprin -

I can't argue with that point John. I don't know. Perhaps Andy's words will ring true...BUT...I love how it looks, how it works; and if all that comes together in a PCP rifle then, at last, someone has built one I actually want to go shooting with. There are areas on my permission where a multi shot pcp would be the perfect tool. Shooting from my vehicle is one definite advantage. Another use of it will be at THL meets where it will stand up to the other lads competing with PCPs on some of the target courses. But as an HFT rifle, it might prove too light and my HW97 .177 or my HW77 .22 spr -

Tx 200 With A Sling ?
pianoman replied to ryanod90's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The problem with slings on TX200 rifles and HC carbines is that the ball detent, that locks the underlever to the barrel is not very strong against holding the weight of the rifle on a sling pulling against it. There is a tendancy for the sling to pull the underlever open under the weight of the rifle on it, when carrying the rifle slung over your shoulder. The Weihrauch lock-up on their underlever HW77s and HW95Ks is far more secure and better for fitting slings. For all that though, the sling-swivel fitting means drilling a hole into the base of the Butt-stock and the other over the -

Thanks too jjm. I thought I've seen enough of PCPs over the many years I've had in shooting, that left me unimpressed, when compared to my spring rifles, which are full of character and soul as well as being incredibly accurate. But the Huntsman has a really lovely bolt action, it's very smooth and slick on indexing shot in the magazine. I love static hide shooting for my hunting style and this rifle will be brilliant for that alone! All the best to you too mate. Simon -

I know...Oh god it's been a torturous decision Craig. You have no idea the sleepless nights I've not had! Cheers for this ecp2012. I was told the same from Wighill Park Guns when I ordered this one. But, heyho, I can wait. She'll be ready when I've got finished getting us both moved into the new house. I was out with my HW77 .22 while shooting with Helen and it was shooting absolutely beautifully on the dots of the panorama I put on it. I'll never change my spots seriously. I think Andy, my mate here has a valid point he made when I told him what I was buying. He said "You'll be bor -

That's really very kind of you Symon. We will be living a mile from RAF Coningsby, gloriously under the flightpaths of the Typhoon and Tornado wings and the Memorial Flight. Is that near you? I have a strong connection with the unit, being an ex-Rock Ape and now, through my aviation art business. Hence the move! Best wishes. Simon -
After finding a new home for Helen and me and an impending move to Lincolnshire before Christmas (hopefully); plus a lot of shit with the ongoing business of suing my former business partner for theft and fraud from my business, I need a cheer-up and buy a new rifle. Well, a man has to have his sport. And I've got the best spring rifles on the planet. So....I've bought.....a......PCP! Daystate Huntsman Regal in .177. And all the bollocks needed for it, scope, airtank (fer fack's sake!) hard shell case, ammo, the lot. It'll be arriving after Christmas but, after sorting out the Days

Hi Skot. I've been getting Helen moved up from Chippenham and now, I'm sorting out a new house in Lincolnshire (and new permissions!), suing a former business associate for theft and fraud from my company and arranging print orders for clients and my wedding to Helen. I was out with her yesterday to get her Daystate Huntsman and scope into order (Fantastic rifle!) and sorting out orders from clients for prints....Kinda busy week this one, all told. I'll get over with my TX200HC .177 soon mate and you can try her out. Incredible accuracy from a 10+year old rifle this particular rifle S -
There is a sound response from therealchucknorris regarding a .22LR rimfire on your licence. Nothing beats a well sorted small calibre cartridge rifle and they cost a lot less, with less hassle than an FAC PCP air rifle which will require a filling bottle if you have a lot of rabbits to shoot in a single foray. A .22LR will be more cost effective and easier to use on a heavy rabbit population. I have an FAC HW80 .22 that I have wondered about replacing with a .22LR or 17HMR. But, experience of hunting with it provides an air rifle that fills the gap between 12ft/lbs and an FAC cartridge ri

It's getting bloomin' silly now...Just seen a pink Co2 Crossman plinker thing at Wighill Park guns. Where do all these girlie Pink colours come from???? -
Got a pic or two of it Davy? I'm going to be after one in .177 myself mate. No other spring rifle in my experience has ever beaten the beautiful HW77 so, what Tony has done to enhance this legendary rifle, I can only imagine! Cheers pal. Simon

How come there are issues with the Daystate Regal? It's a brand new product from a company that ought to know how to build a rifle. Because I'm seriously considering buying one. I just love how it looks and it's got a bit better shot count than the Huntsman Classic I've bought for Helen...and that's an amazingly accurate sweet shooting rifle.

Simmons Whitetail Classic 3.5 -10 x 50 with the 30/30 duplex or 'Truplex' reticle. These Simmons scopes were perfect with Weihrauch spring rifles. I have two WTC 4.5-14x40 for my FAC HW80 and sub 12 ft'lb HW77 .22s. Beautiful quality and superbly reliable accuracy. I can't speak for the others but, I know what my choice is here. Edited to add. When you get sorted out with a Custom Stocks CS700/800 stock for your HW80, why not give AndyFR1968 here a nod for your unwanted HW80 factory stock? He needs one for his HW80K action.
