The green green grass of home

Only looks smart because my old man is a painter ? -
No mate. I bought it years ago off an old guy who wanted rid. The local garage have done bits and my old man keeps it ticking over. Only really used to nip about and to get up the hills/lamping etc. It’s a work horse and I certainly wouldn’t call myself a land rover enthusiast! I put petrol in it and that’s about it

The green green grass of home

Not many speak Welsh now. The farmers and a few of the older folk. I’m pretty much a stranger up there now. Lots of people seemed to have moved to the area from across the border!! ? -

We were lucky with the weather really. The boys won’t leave me alone until we head out. They are mad keen which I hope they carry on with ? -
Decided to head up to Wales with the boys for the Easter weekend to catch up with family and mates. Always a good opportunity to get the dogs and boys out on the hills for a good run. We were lucky with the weather the first few days and got out to a couple of new spots. Snow came in a bit for the last day or so but we still managed to do a bit. Have had a bit of work done on the old landy so we had a spin out in that too. We arrived after a 6 hour drive and the boys wanted to get straight up the mountain Managed to make it up to the top before dark and the

Haven’t got one!

Trip up to wales. Will put something on the lurcher thread later

And a new vet ?
-
Yeah it’s a good heads up and hopefully the other lad has learned a bit.
-
You got to do your homework when looking for a vet. My last one was spot on and luckily when I moved I found another good one. Ask lots of questions before you sign up to anything. Get a second opinion if needs be. As Phil said, basic first aid and a little knowledge is good to have. I always carry a basic first aid kit. Rarely used it but the other week I’m glad I had it as my dog had a bad injury and I managed to sort him enough until I got him to the vets. It’s a shame that most vets charge the Earth.

Yes mate. Let me get the wales trip out the way and I will see how I feel!! Catch up either way ?

It’s a cracking place. I love heading up there. I’m about an hour away but always worth the drive. As long as the dogs are steady to stock you can pretty much go wherever. Mid week can be a problem if they are live firing on the ranges. Will be heading up there a lot more now. We found the Waitrose...... luckily there is a Lidl a bit further along!

Good news Phil. Glad there is some progress. Hopefully you will be able to get out a bit more next season. ATB.

Fishing the Wye by Canoe, possible or not?

I’m canoeing it in a couple of weekends time. Prob won’t fish it but will be on the lookout to head up another time. -
Another walk out today. Was ok on the lower ground but visibility on the Tors was pretty poor. Dogs had a couple of runs in the cover on the low ground. A bit of fresh air if nothing else!

He won’t go too far. He ranges no more than say 100 metres. He always nips back and checks in. If he’s chasing he will go further.
-
Yep I would second that. I was tempted with going towards teagle but didn’t want to take the risk with anything that ranged too far. Got a spaniel x terrier in the end. Just the job.

Read something on this a while back as it was in my area. Think the only thing you can do is wash the dog down after walks and give their feet a good clean. Seems to thrive in wet and muddy places. Look out for the signs and symptoms. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/what-alabama-rot-symptoms-map-11899881.amp

Be good bushers these. You won’t look back. Best thing I ever did to keep the lurcher on his toes! You could call him Jack but if it’s Welsh you need to drop the K. You could just call him Taff or Taffey. Atb with him.

You might have to have a look up north as the racing grews are a bit more common up there I think. The sire to my dog was a grew. He was a racing dog turned worker. He aired a few litters but he will be too old now. He definitely put a bit of height and speed into my dog.

That’s a good offer for someone mate. Hope she goes to the right home. Sure she will. Another 6 months down the line and I would have bitten your hand off. Sure someone on here will offer her up a good home. ATB.

You won’t need a coursing type to achieve that then.

Not many get a second chance .....

Yep same here. If there’s other dogs he will only come back to about 10 metres away then I have to call him in with his catch. If I’m lamping with someone else then I will walk away from them once he has caught and he’s happy to come straight in with it. If there’s no other dogs he’s fine. Pup looking good there mate and she’s getting to see plenty. Sure she will be fine.
