  1. Sounds ideal for on the hills. Does it open up on scent?
  2. That would suit what I do. Couple of them be just up my street. Cheers
  3. There’s 2 litters been advertised on here recently. One was collie/spaniel/beagle/terrier
  4. Like that Breeze. Does it get in the cover?
  5. I guess that’s how it is until you get a type/line. Some come out really heavy and others throw more to the lurcher. I’ve been tempted with a GWP type. I would like to go down the route of a GWP lurcher on both sides though. Or a GWP lurcher x lurcher. I’m happy with what I’ve got at the minute but would like to try something different.
  6. Be nice them. Is the bull lurcher a racey type?
  7. Cheers Dido. Spot on. I’ll prob take the trout gear too. I’ll be hoping to get out to sea with the kayaks to catch some fresh fish for my dinner ?
  8. I’ve also put this in the fishing section but thought I’d try here. Been asked to work up in the Ullapool area for the first 2 weeks in July. Will have evenings and a weekend free. Planning to take my fishing kayaks to see what’s about. Anyone from that area or know it fairly well? I’ll have a spare kayak and all kit going if anyone wants to tag along the odd evening. Won’t have the dogs with me but I’m happy to have a walk out too. Cheers.

  10. Congrats Ken. Don’t turn into a big softy on us now!
  11. Good to hear. I’m new to the trackers. I only use them on the Lurchers up on the hills. Just in the process of getting a Garmin set up. Was lucky enough for some decent lads off here to sort me out. Like you say, it’s nice to know where they are. I’ve always hunted without them but started going on new ground now and don’t want to risk it.
  12. Other than that problem have you found it decent enough?
  13. It’s a pain they don’t answer the phone anymore mate. Just watch with taking them to a shop. If someone else has a look at them then it might void all the dog trace warranty. ?
  14. Spaniel terrier mate. About 3/8 5/8. Different types of terries and spaniel in there
  15. Yeah totally get that. Around cover my smaller bitch is a lot quicker on the bunnies. I’d be thinking more along the lines of a lurcher type with some GWP in it rather than a GWP x grey. I’m also tempted with something with fox hound in it but wait and see when the time is right.
  16. I’m probably going to go down this route as I want to try something different and I’m doing more hill work than lamping. I still want something fairly quick as I’ll be doing the odd bit of lamping too. If the right one comes along once my older lurcher has retired then I’ll be interested.
  17. On a brighter note. View from my office last week.
  18. Do the usual thing mate. Soak it all up the first week and suss out who you want to learn off or work with for the other 5. Plenty of lads I know have gone down that route. ?
  19. Yeah we’ve had that on some private jobs Ken. I asked one of them if he had shares in the local steel yard! They are onto things like that. Not so much on finishing and standards though
  20. I’ve been doing some site work recently. Site managers are hardly there. They juggle as many jobs as they can to make the money. If it’s crap weather they will rarely come out and check things. Not sure what it’s like on the bigger sites. Lad I work for checks everything we do so there’s no come back. On the bigger sites the lads have to be quick to make money so the only thing that can give is standards. On the other hand, I have seen people who are getting paid way over the odds but they just don’t care about their quality of work. The quality of some of the new builds both design and constr
  21. How old are the dogs mate? If it’s the first time you have fed raw then it might take a bit for them to get used to. I feed raw but there’s plenty do ok on kibble and scraps. Especially collie types. Not heard of the place in Holyhead but if the chicken has slightly turned then that will go through dogs like water.
