  1. Haha keven i think both me and you are a bit long in the tooth for clubing, but you are right too many good dogs were destroyed by being pushed too far, they all have there limits.
  2. i think the reason a lot of dogs dont make the grade is too many lads think they need to be tested in there first season i saw a young bitch doin very well this season on a tough dig and two weeks later i heard the bitch had a blip and was gone i think the owner is to blame then for havin her out so soon again jmho Its not only first season dogs that fail, any terrier thats worked sore time and time again will eventually throw in the towel.I know of 1 very good bitch that was dug to in all sorts of places and never once came away, then she was sold and worked without leting her heal properly a
  3. like wise lad ,at least your future dogs will be better for you acknowledgeing it, Mustard weve all done it if we were honest enough to hold our hands up.
  4. Are you taking the pee wee,how would 2 digs test a terriers mettle.
  5. Agree kevin,10 or 12 is plenty especially if they are hard,no point in ruining them before they find there feet, alot depends on age you start them aswell.
  6. Nice bitch of your mates scent,is she a hard bitch while working.Have ye ever bred from her yet,she like stuff i had years ago.
  7. Thats for sure scent, and i agree with you 100%,there's still good working wheaton's out there.
  8. What percentage of bull is in the dog n bitch, the bitch looks a cracker.
  9. 2 nice bullx's ryan, but if i were you i would noy display them on an open forum as anyone in the know can see what there working just looking at them, nice to see a couple of good bullxrussells though.atb,fm.
  10. I remember years ago my mate at the time a i were out after fox. There was a bounty on them that time so that will tell you how long ago it was.We were walking down a hedge,me one side my mate the other when he said he had seen a fox go into the hedge lower down.We knew there was an earth there so we got a little bitch belonging to mt mate ready for a dig.Now she was an out an out sounder and she entered straight off and was on in seconds. We dug almost 7ft that day to a big red tom cat,i still give my mate stick when i meet him.
  11. Grafter man im speaking for myself in relation to the one i have at in kennells. He is a straightx staffxpatt and for your first question he will find and has found anywhere i have put him,and he has been in some big places.I dont see how bull blood would hinder him as i think and this is my opinion, that staff's have a really good nose on em,they will hunt like any other terrier on top if brought up correctly.I find they enter very easily with a will to do the job they were bred for.Size wise, again im speaking for myself, the one i have is smaller than any of the black dogs i keep, and smaller t
  12. Betadine wash also very good,or iodine if you can get it.
  13. Was on lene with my mate again today, lake was very choppy and at times dangerous which made fishing hard but we still managed to come away with 5 nice brownies also lost a couple, and my mate lost a good sized pike, got him to the side of the boat then he spat the bait out,ah well that's fishing for ya.
  14. He could have used any breed, but i guess that a bull was his choice, then again if we all kept petterdales the terrier scene would get very boring.Do you not agree that its good to see different types and breeds doing the job, dont get me wrong i like the patterdale but i will watch and work any breed as long as its able to do its job,and i do like the look of that brindle bullx, but thats no good if it dont work.yis.fm.
  15. Just wash him and inject him with penstrep or pennicillen and he will be grand.
  16. Again it depends a lot on the bull blood thats used in the mating.A lot of lads use bull just for the sake of it without doing their homework on the bull in question or even seeing it work. There is a lot of shit been bred with bullx's as there is with any breed of terrier,patt.border.jrt.lakey there all the same, again its down to doing the homework first before the breeding and not breeding just because you like the look of the dog or bitch.I have seen down through the years as good of bullx's as any other breed of terrier and as many failure's with full terriers as bullx's.
  17. Smashing photo's jigsaw, and there's people say staff's cant work, but alas they never seen a good one.
  18. There's always one,but who gives a toss cause we both know what weve got.
  19. your best bet is not to try and understand each countries laws on deer they all contradict them selves. google the deer act for the area you want to hunt and check you will be legal. Cheers john.
  20. In ireland you will get a permit to shoot deer of any type with a 22.250 and a 55gr bullet. Can anyone tell me why you cant shoot deer with a 220 swift when the bullet can go up tp 70gr i think, not sure but know they go beyond the 55gr required.Just curious as i have a 220 and loads of permission with deer on also but now have to change my rifle to do a bit of stalking.
  21. Can the 220 swift be used to shoot certain species of deer in the uk.
