Deerhounds or any type of hound just think of the weight difference with a red stag and a lurcher,not a hope.

I could not imagine any lurcher taking a mature red stag single handed,maybe 2 or 3 together.We shot one a few year back and he was massive no way would any dog take him down.They might do a hind ok but a stag no.JMHO.

Dabigmc is there a river runing in or out if it,most lakes i fished for pike seem to hold bigger pike if there is,could be something to do with a better supply of food or fresher water.

Never once said i was gona pts.He is just very awkward to keep around me at the minute.With him being almost blind if another dog comes within striking distance he is into them.Not nice when out walking him.I have loads of room to keep him and i never put a terrier down unless needs be.He aint suffering and eats all he gets no prob just could not leave him run loose will see how it goes.

Ihave one here myself.He is 3quarter lakey quarter wheaten.He is half blind half deaf and a contrary b*****d,but he was a great dog to dig with never let us down.He would still do the buisness if let,dont no what to do with him.

When a terrier dog or bitch is finished its diging career do ye diging lads let it live out its life in kennel or do ye pts to make room for young stock.

There's a lot of men in EIRE would disagree with that statement.How can any man say he bred the best patterdales in eire when he would'nt have a clue how many lads even work them.I know a lot of diging men who have patterdales long before booth ever came hereand there names are never mentioned as they keep themselves to themselves and dont talk about there dogs.These same men are diging as long and longer than booth and they were never accused of stealing dogs or geting someone to steal for them. -

I agree totally with you dee mac a stayer is more important than anything,but this iron hard bitch thats dug to once a year on fox and is kept just to kill the fox in a hard spot was to grips for an hour and this was after the fox was shot,had other dogs in at it and in the end when they finally got to dig to it they tried to draw it with more dogs and when that did'nt work they tried a tonges, and first he said he could not get it with tonges then he said they had the terrier with tonges and when he finally decided to grap the poor thing with his hands he wanted to bait a young terrier with i

Met a man i used to dig with a lot last sun week he is only 81 now and still keen as ever has two very good fox lurchers and still does a bit of diging

Bannerboy why dont you an your mates raise the litter between ye.The most she will probably have is 7 or 8,easier to rare two pups together than one single JMO.

He put the bitch in and she never sounded fought it full on for an hour,now FTB my dogs dont eat up fox but if they had one head on in grips for an hour it would definatly be over for the fox.I dont care what country he is from it was a total fcuk up from the word go,and how can he say she is so hard if he only digs one fox a season.If i had to use 3 to 4 dogs to dig a fox i think i would have to have a serious think about the dogs i keep,also there is a lot of lads on here know me and they also know the dogs i keep and i dont need 4 terriers to get a result.FM

Yes FTBive had fox in every situation you could imagine,but he claimed this bitch was so hard it could finish easily and this is after another dog or dogs been with it first,AND its have dead because it has been shot and when he finally got it out he was gona train young terriers or should i say BAIT.Now im not one for laws but that kind of behaveir gives all terrier men a bad name.If he could grab the fox with his hands or tonges why not shoot it and put and end to the thing,out right cruelty and that my way of looking at it.FM

Could have all been spared if the gun had the right catridge load in instead of light load.But now he is telling us he had 3 terriers destroyed before he got this next fox,what's he using yorkies.IMHO he should destroy all he has and start again,cause any terrier that is to grips with a fox for an hour and cant do the job is not worth keeping,and these dogs that go to ground in undigable places how is he geting them bach out.Iknow if any of mine or my diging mates were to ground they would have to be dug unless a kill or bolt and that is in no way bragging just fact.

and i bet ya he didnt cost 850! He did not cost anything,was given to me after all my own dogs were stolen,then was given back but thats another story.

Had a sealyhamxrussell some years back.He was bred down in cork by SB and was one of the hardest dogs i ever had the plesure to work.He could find anywhere and would hunt cover like a hound,he just loved the job he was bred to do,great little dog.He finished up in wexford and a friend of mine dug to him on several digs and said he was the best he ever seen.Ugly as fcuk but what a dog.
