  1. Seen some good white bodied terriers work down through the years, most were a mixed bunch..bullxrussell..fox terrierx russellor bull and a few sealyhamxrussells but all honest hard workers.Had a black.n.white terrier up until a couple of year ago and dug a lot of stuff with it.
  2. This well i know it DEE MAC everybody seems to keep black terriers nowadays, but there is still pockets around the country where you will find the old fashined white terrier still been worked and bred to a good standard.
  3. Anyone on here using fox terriers for ground work anymore,i had a 3quarter smooth fox terrierxbull bout 25 year ago and was a very good dog to dig to He was bred down in ballyhaise,co.cavan by EM.
  4. Im sure somebody has something to suit as you dont seem to want any particular breed.
  5. Knew a man that had a miss breeding with his springer bitch. The collie from next door lined her and she had 5 pups.He is a real softy and let the pups live.He got pet homes for 3 and kept the other twowhich were 2 bitchs. His intensions were to give them away but no one wanted them.He started to take them beating for fox and they loved it.They were demon's on fox really hated them and would also give plenty of tounge in cover.
  6. When boys have drink they think there men but when the drink wears off there boys again.
  7. Gate netting hares is pretty straight forward once you know the run of the hares and the gate passes that they use. When you have sussed out which gates they use set your nets each side of the gap,in doing this if he knocks the first one he will get caught in the second, also if two went through there's a good chance of geting both.Set your nets leaving plenty of baggage for them to wrap up in.I always found early morn to be best, but you can get them anytime, and if you have a well trained dog to send out to beat them in your laughing,no problem on your own.
  8. Steve the only reason i said not to go diging on a windy day was that without locater it would be very hard to ear sound a terrier if it was at a fair depth, hard enough to hear sometimes on a frosty morn in shallow ground. There is a lot of different ground types about me from clay to sand to pure bog so sound can vary. And as for getting foxes to ground on a windy day id say a wet cold day would be even better especially on hilly ground where ther is no shelter from the elements.I would not put a terrier to ground without a collar on even if it was only 1ft in dept anymore why risk it,but i wou
  9. The thread was diging to dogs without locater, not good days to get them in,ever try listening for a terrier to ground on a windy day, maybe you did'nt dig pre locater.
  10. Totally agree, they are as game as any bullx and better all rounder with good harsh coat to withstand the weather. Not as head strong as a bullx but can have a liken to sheep.I find them easier to handle around terriers more bidable but everyone to there own.
  11. Very hard got now but must farmers would be able to get it for you once they have a herd number, also penstrep is very good has all the stuff in it and easy enough to get hold of.
  12. A good steel bar about 4 to 5ft long and good hearing + A terrier with good voice and dont go diging on a windy day.
  13. Think you will be waiting that 2year if you ever find one.
  14. But they expected probably what we all expected, a negative view on matters. And if you don't have the people around who can explain things well, you can do more harm then good. So who knows, better that they kept them out. You could be right considering the shower of fcuk's that were outside protesting, one of them dont live too far from me and she is a dangerous c**t.
  15. He dont need help he needs to wise up.First he says he started the bitch at 4months and she took to it like a duck to water then he talks bout these killer rats smashing dogs to pieces his words not mine, like i said he should wise up.
  16. They must be serious fcuking rats, were you drinking or smoking the funny stuff.Bit off advice QUITbefore you make yourself out to be a total plonker.
  17. Im getting a hardon thinking about her any pics, this site gets more fcuking silly by the day.
  18. Not trying to stir the shit but why do you want to breed her if she is only 3year old she cant have a lot done 1or 2 seasons at the most,so she not a proven bitch yet imho but she your bitch so do as you please.
  19. Alumicen spray and a jab of penstrep,or betadine wash very good stuff and synulox tabs if you can get them.
  20. Think the lads from the edenderry coursing club should have let reporter in to speak to them, but overall no harm done.
  21. I think there is just as many jibbers in patterdales as any other working breed.A lot depends on how hard they are worked and how often, and the quarry they are worked on.Pre ban when lads could dig badger i seen a lot more russell types or russellx than patts, then there was'nt as many about then over here, maybe thats why there is such a suscess rate now cause nearly everyone keeps them.IMOP they are no better than any other terrier that works, they all do a job at the end of the day.I keep a couple as do the lads i dig with but we also keep other stuff every bit as good if not better.
  22. Not bothered what breed they are as long as they do the job i want from them,ie...find,and stay till dug to no matter what the depth or what sort of soil or situation it may be.They are all terriers whether they be black white smooth or rough, hard or steady as long as they do the job thats all that matters.
  23. good luck mate There the fcuking criminals not us,weve been robbed blind by the goverment for years and now they want to take a3way the little bit of pleasure we have left.Im about 37 years diging and i aint gona stop cause sum c**t in a suit in an office somewhere says its wrong fcuk them.
