  1. No prob D and you know a bayer dosent suit the work i do, id be diging all day,but as i said earlier everyone to there own.
  2. Was out with local gun club yesterday, just had lurcher with me,anyway they had hounds and ran a fox to ground. They then proceeded to enter a parson type bitch which found so we started a dig 6ft.We dug 2 of these holes and in the end lifted the terrier and left.I know if i had any of my own dogs that fox would have been got in the 1st attempt,i know there is good sounders that will mix it when needed but this was a bayer that did not or was'nt goin to get hurt.
  3. Bit harsh the way you finished up there BD no need for it.
  4. It all depends on what you call a hard terrier.Lads definition of hard vary. The dogs i keep most lads would say there hard, but i would say there hard workers, but with brains to match.Sounders are grand, but i seen a lot just when your about to break through the quarry will push and the dog move with it,which means a second hole to open.I also seen dogs which get a few marks on a dig and there owners think there in bits and lay them off for weeks,i give mine a week and there grand, but everyone to there own.
  5. A couple of year ago one farmer in the ardee dromconrath area approached a group of lads out hare hunting. He was only goin to tell them to stay out of the land where he had sheep on ready to yain. They were north lads and they turned on him one actualy struck him with a paling post. They just about left him for dead,he needed a blood transfusion to save him.Now im not running down the north people but that was bad form, they also told him they would come back and burn his house and sheds. Its these sort of pricks that will ruin all types of hunting, and id bet any one of that lot on there own if fi
  6. The hares in my area were all but gone due to been hunted with lurchers. Now dont get me wrong im not condeming all lurcher men but,one certain gang kept coming back week in week out until they almost wiped it out. They were'nt slipping 1 or 2 dogs it was 4 and 5 at a time so the hare had'nt much hope.To cut a long story short the local courseing club caught up with them and they hav'nt been back and the hares are starting to make a comeback due to the club releasing hares in the area.I do a good bit of hunting of a different type in the ardee and dromconrath areas and you can see a decline in h
  7. Yes keven seen 1 not too far away from yourself,it was white with darkish ears.
  8. Ive seen it round here, local lads bring in outsiders for a dig then they come back them selves and dont give a fcuk what way they leave the earths. Also if they meet the landowner they just say so n so said it would be ok and they get away with it
  9. Ar you sure the nargc insurance wont cover us.Two seoerate incidents happened up with us last year and it covered both. The first was a accident involving a gundog and motorist, and the second was two dogs got out at night at sheep causing a lot of damage finanially. Both men had gunclub insurance and were totally covered.
  10. No one said you were a bad dog owner,a bit silly yes, considering you exercise your dog with no collar on around earths, even if you did'nt know it was there. She is 18months old more than ready, what if the earth was say 10 to 12ft and she did'nt come out how would you locate her and she silent, also if it weren't fox she was or could be in a mess and who would you get to help you THINK ABOUT IT.not having a go at you either.
  11. Why have a 18month old terrier running loose with no collar on,when you are beside earths, your lucky she came out considering she was silent.Dosent matter when you start her but ffs put a collar on her even while exercising.
  12. Yeah thats late, cubs would'nt be born till april maybe the cold spell had something to do with it.
  13. Has anyone hit cubs yet while digging, must be nearly time for them
  14. In about 1983 they built a new housing estate in the town i was living in then.My mate and i were out for a mooch at the back of the houses. They had left the original ditch in and it used to hold a couple of earths, that we had completely forgotten, anyway my dog went to ground and could be heard hard at his quarry right in some guys back lawn under the kitchen window. We tossed to see who would go and ask if we could dig up his lawn to retrive the dog and my mate done the deed. The owner of the house thought we were mad but when we showed him where to listen to the dog he was quite excited. We dug
  15. Great to see her back on her feet, you were lucky i lost a very good bitch to kidney failure, what made it worse she was only 5 and the last of that type, hope she comes right for you.
  16. This thing about 3oclock would it be that the foxs lie up most of the day and come afternoon they start to hunt for food, would'nt that leave scent fresher.
  17. They were usefull enough when put to greyhound for lurchers, had one years ago good fox dog also seen a few that were good on fox.
  18. Nice strong head on him,if foxy dosent bolt hes in trouble.
  19. Thank god for clay and sand, them rocks look like hard graft, fair play to you lads that work them.
  20. Interesting, when is the WMHS on? Sounds a better show for working dogs. There hoping for the 24th of july i think.
  21. Agood nights work, tidy looking lurcher is it wheaton bred.
  22. If you get a good nights rain theres a good chance of gettin one in early next morn, also this time of year there mating so they go to ground a lot.
  23. Glad to here you got your dog back, next time put her on a leash when your close to earths or get yourself a locater set,bet your a happy lad today.
  24. did you dig down 12ft or trench in 12ft not being funny, but you say you heard the dog sounding was that from the entrance it had to be.If you did'nt block up any tubes while digging theres a chance she is still alive, maybe just stuck,go back out and if you can try with another dog all the better if not leave a coat or something like that outside. If it comes out she might stick around, hope you get her back safe.
