Knew a man that reared a cub with his russells,they wud'nt touch that fox but when hunting showed no respect for them.He had the cub for about 10 months but soon as the mating season started it disapeared.He seen it a couple of times after that as he had a dog collar on but it did'nt stay most likely shot.IMO a wild anamil should be left wild.

well said, TULLYEYED i never once ran down the young lads that dig and if you go through the thread you will see that.I have already stated that i like to see the younger lads at it and fair play to them,and im not that old either,just got into it very young,though some days after a hard dig i feel old.There is a lad here not far from me 17 and very keen but has bought what was sopposed to be workin terriers and they were shite,paid 500euro for 1 with no come back and that was of a so called big name.Its men like that who will turn the young off.

Like that bitch she looks a real gud grafter.Is that A.COCKER yes mate alan cocker Ive got a bitch of his breeding in kennells at the moment.She is only young,7months but a nice strong bitch.Igot her through a friend of mine from wexford who keeps cocker stuff.He says they are very hard and self enter at a very young age.MR COCKER also ear tattoe's all his terriers which i find would be handy if stolen.

Bogger if you like what you keep and it does the job for you,it dosen't matter what colour they are.Had a very gud lakey bitch bout 15year ago.She was blackntan and she always through a white pup even though she was never put to any dog with white in it and none back through her breeding either but they worked and worked well.Best of luck to you and your dogs

I like that CHUBBS and no bogger i dont think everything on this is reasonable.I thing theres a hell of a lot of shit on here, but also some gud posts I dont know what type of terrier you keep,but if i did i wudnt slate it the way you have the bullxs imho any terrier that can go to ground and stay until dug to is a workin terrier regardless of what way its bred.Some like them hard some like a sounder,i like a dog that stays the distance no matter what dept or what sort of soil or whatever the case may be and i dont like diggin more than 1 hole so thats why i keep what i have

Only yesterday while out with a hound pack the lad that does the terrier work had nets ,and he was using the old stove or fire poker with the ring top cut down to about 10inch it looked the buisness

No disrespect taken Fionn.We all love the sport i hate to see this time off year coming cause it means its over till next september or there abouts. You must have picked me up wrong as i love to see the younger generation out with the terriers its just that some get lead down the wrong road if you know what i mean.The dogs i keep now vary and some lads on here might not agree with them.There too big or too hard but they suit my needs.30 year ago lads didnt care what breed you kept as long as it worked and i still think on the same lines.I dont know what you keep but if it suits you then feck a

A friend of mine has a small gun pack consisting of 8 harriers and 2 foot beagels.Recently the two beagles have started to go to ground when the harriers are marking.Theyve had to be dug out twice and are becoming a problem as it holds up the days hunting

Does any of the limerick lads remember a man from patricks well.His name was jimmy stokes he was a welsh man.He kept sealyhamxrussell dogs. he came up to dig with me a few times. he was 80years young then an wud drive the 3hours just to see a dig.He had fought cancer 3 times then and in the end it got him.Jimmy was a true gentleman,when my dogs got robbed he didnt know me,but there was an add on the edrd and he phoned me up and offered me one of his dogs he would be gone about 8 year now RIP JIMMY

Had them as well liam, tough little dogs that is the plan im hoping for its a gud few years away but we will see . I had a3/4 russell back about 36 year ago .He worked hard up until he was 16 .Iactually used him with a hound pack for 2 seasons he was 14 and 15 then he had a great voice and was happy to yap all day as long as the game didnt come to him, one of the best dogs i ever owned or worked he eventually died in his sleep .RIP SPOT
