  1. 24 I WISH 2 litters of 12 1 litter of 5 plus 9 adults total 38 ferts
  2. well, two litters were planned, one was not, but two lots of 12 from 2 jills is big litters, thankfully I have a very large garden, and the bottom section is my ferret area, so an extra court will be no problem, plus a very understanding missus, who loves ferts nearly as much as me, means that most will be held over untill september ish and the rabbiting season, giving me the chance to try them out first
  3. well, Ive got my hands full now, a few of you may recall the posts of how I had an un expected litter of 12 kitts in the court, plus I already had a litter of 5 planned kitts, well another jill that was paired to an intact hob, and showed all the signs of pregnancy, led me to belive it was a phantom, as by my dates, she should have dropped a week ago, so much so, that I put the castrated hob, in with her for company, and she took to him, like her litter, dragging him about, well checking out today, and yup, heard some tiny squeaks which I knew wasent the others, opening her hutch, and we hav
  4. is she in a cage or court jack? if a cage, then change the bedding now and again in a couple of weeks if you can, as when the kitts come, youll have to leave the bedding area alone for a good few weeks, just cleaning the $hit corner, if in a court, provide more than one nest box, and as she use's one, keep the other two with fresh woodchip, she'll then move kitts if she wants new bedding
  5. The father is that small greyhound hob you me and Steve were chasing dont remind me... we looked a right bunch ! well richie, in case that happens again, we have a new secret weapon, he's called ferreter216 (remember jack and those bushes)
  6. depends how the jill is with you, everyone know's there own ferts, plus magwitch's jill's know they will get extra carrots for that
  7. how are they looking hed's, post a picture if you get a chance
  8. they are FERRETS NOT HUMANS IT DOESNT WORK THE SAME Id have to dis-agree there bob, one of my polecat jills, started bleeding and had a litter of six (1 dead) within a matter of hours, yet it was a week early by my dates, if the jill and hob are left together longer than a day (mine are) then when do you take a date from, when paired, when seperated, or on sighting a mating?, this could be more of us making a mistake, than the ferret birthing early
  9. Well done sue, good advice given and not a mention of rushing to the vets
  10. are you 100% sure on the dates, Ive had a couple of jills, that have bled a few hours before giving birth
  11. not knowing what you feed her on at the moment, but I'd say fresh rabbit, maybe an egg once a week, or a very little milk, I always give mine milk after dropping the litter, and then always keep dry food in hutch/court, but carry on with the fresh rabbit every day, if you cant get rabbit, go for chicken pieces from the supermarket, chopped into managable sized chunks, bones included
  12. I used to do it that way in my younger days, and just recently did a squirrel skin, stretched out on a board with panel pins and left to dry, only took couple of days, I would think with a rabbit skin thats larger, you may be able to scrap a bit of the fat? off, once stretched
  13. this post is over 3yrs old,
  14. that'll get you a good response on a ferret forum they are 3 weeks ish today, they were born a day or two before I found out, in the court
  15. taken a couple of minutes ago,
  16. Well to be perfectly honest theres always someone ready to rip apart what you say on this part off the forum recently, it used to be a nice part off the forum , its just how i feel thats all, if you post its no good if you sit & watch your an anti , so whats the bloody point of any off it Im not ripping it apart kay, Im all for people posting answers, all I asked was, whats easier for a young'un to understand
  17. its not a bloke thing ladies but looking at it from a young person's point of view, what's easier for them to understand feed fresh rabbit or The food needs to have 30-35% protein and 15-20% fat, and animal protein should be the first ingredient and at least two or three of the next few.
  18. uuuummmmmmm nope still dont get it .................lol ok busa, FEED CARROTS INSTEAD, gives them good vision underground
  19. sue, the guy is asking what to feed, the first two replies, keep it short and sweet, FRESH RABBIT, we have a joke about it, as para rightly say's, he should know this before breeding kitts, but christ, you even confussed me with all that you wrote, let me put it, into simple terms that he will understand 1, shoot/trap/buy a RABBIT, 2, gut it (some do, some dont) 3, chop it into chunks 4, feed to your ferrets
  20. ou let your ferrets breed and you don't know what to feed them on?. Get a book Pet Rocks were all the rage at one time they don't need much husbandry at all come on pat, everyone has to start somewhere, do you still feed shredded carrot
  21. jack, find someone in college/metal work, that can make you up the framework, Ive got the net here, to make the basket bit out off
  22. yeah, dont worry, I doubt he'll have picked up any disease from your dad
  23. So will castration stop these boys fighting? I have the same problem and bought another hutch the other day, one has some nasty wounds on the back of his neck. I'll separate them today and have found a vet to neuter for £35.00 each if this means they will live peacefully together all year then I will get them done. I'm glad that this post was put up Tracey x castration, will stop them fighting, we have a castrated hob "buster" who's still a good worker, so nothings changed there, just mellowed him out a bit more,
  24. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...st&p=269166 that insurance will cover you for every aspect of hunting, barring horses, although it ONLY covers you for work done for FREE, you can upgrade to a buisness insurance that covers you for paid work, if the permission is only going to be off a night time, then go for air rifle control, sod trying to net holes and find ferts in the dark, you may find certain area's can be accessed daytime, to allow you to ferret
  25. yeah, Ive used that on dogs before now
