  1. or you could simply become a donator, at the moment your a standard member, so your picture posting is limited, donating £5 gives you more picture posting space, also if your taking pictures with a digital camera they normally have 3 picture quaility settings, set it to the lowest resolution, its computer friendly and allows more pictues also I'll let you know, if you have'nt read the rules of the forum, but text talk is not allowed, so its ok to put 1 if its a number, but you cant use 2 to mean to/too/two if you do, your post will be deleated, letting you know now, saves hassel late
  2. Why " In this weather " ? In fact why every other day? Jesus; Do we not Feed our creatures Every day, regardless of weather? Do we not tend their other needs Every day? you'll notice ditch, I said "at least" purely as you know damn well he aint going to go from fortnightly to daily, I was trying to get a happy medium between the two, get his ferrets a better life, and make him a better keeper,
  3. as others have said mate to once a fortnight how would you like, not flushing the toilet for 2 weeks, plus eating and sleeping in there, you sound passionate about your ferts, in this weather, try cleaning them every other day at least
  4. yes, it does, it deserves a humane death, drowning isi'nt it,
  5. being a pestie, I get to kill humanely all sorts, but could'ent do a ferret, unless it was "the humaine" thing to do, ie illness, although I have a large number of kitts this year, I also have a very large garden/ferret area, and the capacity to keep them, simply people breed to the area they have available, those with a small set up, keep it small, a word of advise for the poster, saying he drowns, live catch rats, loads may do it, but it is in fact illegal, so edit your post and keep it under your hat
  6. sorry thunder could'ent resist, top right of your screen, your see the search function, not enough members use it, and therefore these pictures get put up again and again, just do a search on ferret courts, you'll get loads up of member's courts
  7. and here's a nice looking court
  8. jazz, it's obvious from your replies, that you have made your mind up, what do you want someone to say?, the actual amount of discharge is 100ml you still would'ent know you have two options, leave her in the hutch, carry on feeding her/mating with your hob, if she die's you can either take the blame, or blame others on here for giving you bad advise, after all, none of us are vets or take her to the vets, at the end of the day, it all depends on how much YOU value your ferts
  9. castration will help a little on the smell of a hob in season, but he will still stink, unless you opt for weekly bath's, as the scent glands will still be intact its wierd with the smell, I can smell it, but its not off-putting, yet my missus say's, I stink of ferts, yet when she handles them, she says the smell is nice
  10. I suppose it depends on funds available, and if you intend to ferret all year round, just having the hob snipped would sort it, as he would then get the jills out of season, but ofcourse he'd be randy as heck in the summer, and need to be kept seperate from the jills, for a longer period, plus if ferreting in the summer, hob's then tend to want to "mate" down the hole, rather than flush out rabbits, having him castrated, would mean he could be kept with the jills always, and some owners of castrated hob's, have remarked that they still get jills out of season, never having a jill speyed
  11. the ferret forum, can only give you advise, not fix the problem, you have asked the question, and had more replies saying "get to the vets" and as yet, Ive not seen a post saying"mine get this green puss too, so all is ok" as much as I dislike vets, in this Instance, I'd say get her to a vet's too
  12. here's a picture, of a few of my PENS, enjoy
  13. I know, cos Im a moderator, everyone has a warning bar, you would know if your warning level has gone up, as you would recieve a warning pm, describing why your being "warned" for things like, posting Illegal pictures, harassing other members, constant text talk in your postings, newbie youngsters talking about mink/beavers etc etc, recieve 5 warnings and you go up in front of all the teachers (mod's) who then deciede to ban you or not, so, to sum it up in a nut shell, if you aint been warned, dont worry, all play nicely warnings can be removed also, so for instance, a newbie that comes in
  14. a weatherproof material, same as what bikers wear in the rain
  15. Ive currently got two snipped hob's and an entire hob sharing a court, all are randy sod's and shagging each other , but they get on fine (its getting off they have trouble with ) my castrated hob, is being kept seperate, as yes, they would shag him too, and he could'ent get his own back although it was only recently that they were all seperated, before that I had 2 snipped hobs, 1 castrated hob, 3 jills and 12 kitts, all sharing the same court no blood, no fighting
  16. I reckon, its the salt, we all sweat salt, but its more than likely rubbed off on your hands, legs/arms etc it aint, try adding a salt block to there cage/hutch, see if it makes a difference once the breeding season's out of the way, they should all get on fine, if there's a warren full of rabbits, fighting between themselves would be the last thing on their minds as for colour prefrence; one of my best workers, vixen is a silver, so thats my first choice, next is a dunno colour, her daughter, minky, is just that, looks like a mink, very dark, but without the polecat mask,
  17. I tend to charge £15 any sex any colour, if people know your giving them away, I feel you'd get some that then would'ent bother digging to it, as it cost nowt,
  18. a big thank you to you pat, thats half filled the freezer, and the pugs said thanks was a very enjoyable evening, even though I did have to race home and then go to work and as much fun as it is shooting, see'ing all those fresh dig's, makes you want to get the ferts down there gilly, they get put in the freezer, with their fur coats on, but minus their feet(get more in that way) leaving the fur on, means not having to worry about freezer bags, the fur stops them sticking together, roughly one full size rabbit is enough to feed each night, so the rabbit is taken out the night b
  19. great looking box, whats with the camo tape, think a nice wood stain/varnish would look better, but, thats just my opinion
  20. Id want to see you posting a bit more before selling you any of mine, but thats just my opinion, seems strange for a new member of 4 posts, to already have a 10% warning level and saying you want "a couple", do you know anything about ferrets, apart from the fact that they help you catch rabbits also, filling out your profile with some information, may be a start, ie location
  21. my litter of five, now 32 days old, one jill has an eye open, normally the jill hoardes the evening rabbit in a corner to herself, this evening, a kitt jill, with eye's still shut came wandering out and clamped onto a piece that mum was chewing, with that, she dropped the piece, took another from the bowl, and gave it to the 4 in the sleeping box, deffo a joy to watch,
  22. well as for colours, the adult hobs and jills have polecat/albino/silver all in there make up, with the father of two matings "little nipper" being a outcross sandie as for the price of feeding them rabbits dont cost anything, am probably lucky in that I have a couple of new permissions, one that only allows trapping or ferreting, and one that allows shooting (air rifle) that I can do on a weekly basis, plus of course my good friend magwitch who takes me out now and again with the rimfire, keeps the freezer topped up and onto what to keep, well the missus (wasp) has already picked
  23. actually being in season is'nt going to do her "damage" but a jill in season, with a swollen vulva, which is therefore close to the ground(cage floor) is a way infection can be picked up etc, there's bound to be someone who can explain it, in better words, but if she's on her own, with the kitts, and the cage is cleaned regularly (shite corner) there should'ent be to much of a problem
