  1. Im not sure how tight i can go before i choke them! well, trying would be a start, put the collar on and pull tight, mark where that is and make a hole, put the collar on, put fert back in the hutch, if it starts going blue its too tight, come back couple hours later, if the fert aint wearing the collar, you need to make another hole, its that simple
  2. another site might be ok for youngsters, but unless your not into fieldsports, when are you going to find the time, theres lots of hunting sites already out there, but this is the only one I visit, and before I was a mod too, unless your sitting at home all day, I cant see where youll find the time, as already stated, this site is a hunting site, that has a very good ferreting section, what would yours do, that this one dont already unless cater for armchairs hunters, that want to type, rather than get out and do or will it just be a duplication of this, in which case, why havent voted
  3. yes mate, a dreaded smoker
  4. if you'vre tried everything, and still no joy, surely the sensible thing to do would be a trip to the vets and get it stitched, or glued
  5. good write up on your days events, prehaps get extra holes put in the collars, and test them out while the ferts are in the hutch, saves any digging
  6. for that sort of money, why not buy a bottle, when I got my AA S410 I bought the stirrup pump, thinking its better than a bottle, as your re filling, rather than paying to have the bottle re filled every so often, the pump lasted a week, and the shop kindly took it back, with a little cash on top for a bottle, the pros and cons, in my eyes, a stirrup pump is ok at home, but cant see much use on a soggy field, if your rifle needs more air, and I was totally knackered after pumping only half the air in the bottle can be put in the boot of the motor, although to heavy to lug about
  7. and then what happens when 3 stick together, and the other is on its own you'll end up with 5, then 6, Ive got 13,
  8. it looks like the bottom contact is badly worn, you can see two silver lines merging together across the whole contact, maybe rather than trying to referb that, and as you have a few to canibalise, why not try to get hold of a new rotating switch, Im sure MAPLINS would have something, the type thats on a train set power supply, turning it gives more power to train thingy, and attaching it on the outside of box through the plastic,
  9. to make yours into a quickset, you need a basket to carry it in, can be picked up from £35 to £50 depending on quaility, then the poles, quickset tend to use fibreglass poles, I got mine from "magnums" link to their site on the main page to longnetting, cost around £3.50 each, you get black or white poles, I used all black, but with a white pole start and finish, as it makes ends easy to identify when using more than one net stretch your net out, having first worked out where your having your poles, be it every 5yds,6yds etc attatch first pole, pull top and bottom lines tight and net t
  10. although the idea of being able to turn them on and off sounds ok, as it will save the battery life, what happens when someone boxes a ferret and switches off the collar, then later re enters a ferret and forgets to turn it back on, it will happen, think I'll stick with the mk3 ones
  11. they aint hairs, there rabbits nice pics as usual pat, doe's ted bring them back to hand
  12. wood or wire tealer? if wire, the type woodga makes, you put a knot in the end of the snare wire to stop it pulling off...
  13. fingers crossed then, that he cant tell difference between a white chicken or a white duck
  14. send the pictures to me, Ill get them up for you
  15. cheers for the imput guys, having never had the need to trap foxes before, all the advice greatly recieved, I've got the duck and chicken in freezer that it mauled, would these be better baits, and yup, I would have kept the maggie as a call bird, but I was asleep
  16. get plastic tent pegs, they have a hole in them
  17. you'd look for fur caught on the wire, and/or discolouration on the wire from rabbits passing through
  18. ferrets pick up ticks when down the rabbit holes, if you get into the habit of de ticking them at the end of the days ferreting before putting them back in the hutch, you should'ent have to worry to much on the bedding,
  19. I presume you dont own a mk3, if you did, you'd know why we put tape over the speaker
  20. stubby

    little pic

go into your control panel, its called an avitar, host a picture somewhere, photobucket is good, then copy the url into the avitar box
  21. no, its the other way around, mk1 box will pick up mk3 collar, but not your way
  22. Good to see you are getting out again. I still say that on a 26 holer you are going to need more then two ferrets. What part of the country are you in? im from essex mate ... yer i might get a couple of more ferrets im not that sure but the other day on about 36 holer about 6 rabbits bolted with only oner ferret down but what you need to ask yourself, is how many were in there, that didnt bolt, on large warrens, theres lots of hiding places for rabbits, some will bolt, but if they hear comotion up top, voices etc some will sit tight, and having only 2 ferts down, allows them
  23. they are bloody dear, but you get what you pay for, I found 5 on e bay that worked out at £17 each, the design and quaility are the same, but a smaller version of the 5 I have that cost £25 each, they will catch rabbits, but bigger look better
