  6. luck of the draw I reckon, did a few small holers last sunday, getting 3's and 4's from each, did another large warren the day after and got 2
  7. what are haggis ? its a small furry mammal, only found in scotland, sort of cross between a large rat and a goffer, they make those furry bags on the front of the kilt out of them
  8. i went out yesterday put new batteries i and it didnt work tryed turning them round knowin i'd put them in right decided to leave it in car, then came back after a few hours for a brew and it was flashing away.all i can think of is that it warmed up in the sun on the seat!!!!! its the first time this has happened no mate, they aint made to work via sunlight, either batteries, or your putting them in the wrong way round, or its fecked holding the collar in front of you, with the slide of bit to the right, the furthest away battery points up (+) the nearest, points down(-)
  9. aint it great, that members read stuff in the ferreting section, theres 12 bloody pages at the top of this page, and victors not too sure
  10. moved to the correct section for you
  11. Ive never cleaned ferts ears, and never will, getting a tick out is hard enough, cant see them letting you do both, delicate thing is ears
  12. Drop boxs will clear rabbits from any area if they are correctly used, its a very good ,but expensive method of rabbit control, the traps are usually a permanant fixture in the fence and only need looking at the morning after being primed [usually twice a month].I have worked on two estates where this system has been brought in and the long term effect upon the rabbits is devarstating.I checked some boxs with a keeper a large estate in Northamptonshire one summer a few years back and the amount of rabbits caught had to be seen to be believed. the question was, will drop boxes harm
  13. are you looking for sporting insurance (free of charge) or buisness, for paying customers land I use SACS, but thats for free work, £20 for 5 mil, but I know they can upgrade it to buisness, but dont know a price Im affraid
  14. that only states the need to control rabbits on your land, and prevent them from going onto others, it does not state that its illegal to release rabbits onto other land with landowners permission
  15. as asked already, surely your lazer gun will get them first
  16. not a lover of using too many chemicals on my ferrets, anything put on the fert, gets absorbed into the skin, even frontline, most are some form of PERMETHRIN, which is a pestacide, used for killing things, relying on something in a tin, does not give you peace of mind, that your not slowly poisoning your fert
  17. I've got 15 ferrets in one court, and never in my life have I had 30 plus ticks on them all, I'd be seriously worried about their housing and my care if they did, after ferreting, using maybe 4 of the 15, they are de-ticked before going back in the court
  18. there must be a few members from here, living over there, put out an invite to all, get as many longnets as you can, circurling the area, and sub dividing it also, every person picks a spot and sticks to it, also sounds like this would be a good place to use a loca8tor also, see pinned topic head of page, "alternative ferret finder" as it can be used upto 400ft distances above ground
  19. basically a box set in the ground, the top is flush with the earth, has a tunnel effect with a see saw bottom, its placed on a fence line, where rabbits pass through, left locked at first so rabbits get used to using it, then set, so as a rabbit runs through, it drops into the underground box, hence the name, numbers of rabbits can be caught, but as memtioned, to stay within the law this would need to be checked daily, also they can be quite expensive, so you wouldent want to place it, where some little scrott is going to nick it, thats my reason for saying it wont affect ferreting,
  20. doubt it, otherwise it would have happened by now, drop boxes can only be used in certain circumstances, as they need checking everyday,
  21. I use a MK1 and often find their pugs before they do too true,
