  4. by becoming a donator, £5 a year, it not only helps with the site, but gives you the ability to load pictures direct from your computer, rather than having to host them on somewhere like photobucket,

looks good, but I'd raise it up on bricks at edges, allowing a free flow of air underneath, otherwise that'll be the first place to get damp/rot
  6. I read a post on here a few weeks back, someone quoted taking 2 hours to net up a large 120 hole warren, well with a longnet, that would take a few minutes, plus pursenets get dragged off by some ferts, meaning your having to run around re placing them, well no need with the longnet, encircle the warren, put your ferts down, and wait, the fert should not need to be picked up again, just leave it be as it runs from hole to hole, I very very rarely use purse nets nowdays,
  7. no idea about all hobs, but I have 2 snipped and 1 casrated, all work fine
  8. get yourself a ferreting patch that aint gonna have other dogs roaming around use a longnet to encircle the warren, that way theres no need to pick up ferts as they emerge from a hole, just keep an eye on them, let them work the warren, if they go to the net, then pick them up
  9. you may get more replies if you put this in "the ferreting section" rather than rimfire let me know if you want it moved
  10. I must be getting old, as Im so glad thats all over for another year, so to all ferreters, hope the new year brings bags of bunnies for you,
  11. antibiotics will be the only cure, and even then they take a day or two to kick in, if you can see the lump around your gumline, lance it with a needle, that will reduce the pain immeadeatly, be ready for the yellow puss though
  12. if your serious, then a ferret finder is a good investment, saves lost ferts, some will tell you its not needed, but everyone to there own, price wise ferrets from £5 each hutch, make one or buy one £30 upwards dry food is rabbit isint available £6 bag(last week or two) woodchip/straw bedding £3 upwards your time daily £0 ferreting locator £130 ish nets you have some, but will need more carry box £20 spade £15 or free warm gear for yourself plus £££££'s kept in jar for emergancy, should you need a vet as for bolting rabbits via smoke, some will say they h
  13. well he probably knows more than you and us on your ferts condition, but good on you for getting him to a vet, was he only getting antibiotics as the treatment, what were they charging you per visit, is he still on AB's
  14. your right mate, members need to take a deep breath before replying, but you can see their point, this is a ferret section, you have come on, asking questions first, which is the best thing, but you can therefore expect to get negative and positive replies, you do come across as though, the keeping side of things is just all too much trouble, and your questions, seem as though you have read up a little on what your asking, which makes me belive you already know the answers, but are just winding people up, Id suggest rather than keep asking questions, that will get you negative replies, se
  15. too much noise above ground could account for rabbits not wanting to bolt, try leaving the dog at home next time,
  16. STOP FEEDING COOKED CHICKEN ferrets eat raw meat get to a pet shop, and get a tube of ferret malt paste, then as others have said, give her a good feed of RAW chicken, then get the help of someone else, one holds her, the other can snip the nails, a big blob of ferret paste and she'll be putty in your hands
  17. I'll close this topic now, save it becoming to over the top, but look forward to lots of stories including pictures of all blackbullets days out, showing us how better he is
  18. at least the lads asking first; ferts can be kept as pets, that also work, yes you could keep a single one, but far better to give it the company of its own kind, so really a min of two, probably better for you to keep two hobs, as you wouldent have too worry to much in the breeding season, apart from them trying to shag each other, dry food although not Ideal, does have everything they need in it, see if a local pet store to you has "james wellbeloved" cheaper if you buy in large sacks, fresh meat is better, and of course free, so then if you get a chance to ferret, and have access to a f
  19. with 13 in the court, I tend to feed a single rabbit one day, then two the next day, then one, then two and so forth, if dry food is given, its in two large cassarole dishes, so they all get a fair share
  20. your probably right, better fed ferts, wouldent do lie up's, never dug to a sleeping fert
  21. if you saw and smelt all the ferals I shoot on the underground, it would put you off for life
  22. just noticed, you havent set a reserve price, or mentioned that its advertised elsewhere, and therfore may get withdrawn before end of auction, just in case no one else bids on it
