  1. Allso from a point of veiw of checking the traps, the talpex/duffus or tunnel trap is alot quicker to check,I use these in gardens where they are shoved up the run out the way of kids, for that they are very handy
  2. Deker is right,I set my gun up with a clean barrel, ie I take a cleaning kit with me fire a round let it cool, clean the barrel and go onto the next round, once its true i clean the gun and leave it,you know then every time you go out the first shot is true, which when you are deer stalking is what you want, and any second or third shot is not affected in any noticable way, then you always clean on return home, job done I do this with all my rifles and have never really had a problem, ,
  3. Hi Darren what happened to your skins? I did a fox skin, it was winter coated and in good condition,I left it in around ten day's the recipie was to use allum and washing soda,I am not sure if I left it too long, but basically it fell to pieces the fur came out,the best one I did was with red diesel and baking soda a deer skin, I will probably return to that method this yr
  4. Tottaly agree more should be of the same stamp
  5. Listening to what you are saying,it is more you than the gun [sorry ]why do you need to have the rubber extender on the back of the scope????I personally I would take it off, until you get used to fireing it,buy some cheap factory ammo and set your target much closer, say 50 yds if its going to go wrong it will show at that range just as well, take your time and prepare your firing site, get comfy relaxe make sure the rest is spot on,or fill a small bag with saw dust, and make one there may be a bit of adjustment to be made, but if it has been set up before this wont be a major adjustment, concentrat
  6. Before you go any further check everything is tight, ie scope, mounts, and bases, most of them rounds are up and to the right, thats if thats the way around the target was,are you left or right handed,? are you sure you were comfortable on your rest, you wernt feeling as thought you were reaching up with your back to keep the gun level,I dont know if its a wood stock or not but fold a peice of paper and slide it between the barrel and forstock,it should move unobstructed down to the breech almost, you say they are home loads did you set the bullet depth with a AOL gauge, have you tried factory amm

  9. Its a start non the less. Not so bad here darren, i have all my meadows trapped out and done till the first cut, what im on with is grazing land, which at the moment is very heavilly grazed, the sheep are starving so the grass hasnt a chance to get going. I did the silage fields first, but have taken on two more farms, only two week ago and the silage is well up I did however make it very clear to farmer that,I will have to comeback once its cut,I cant see the little buggers,I am doing ok though
  10. We are haveing to slow down, the silage fields are well up now, need the first clip off to get at them,

  17. Tiercel, what a good write up,you make me want to try one myself if the rabbit population keeps climbing like it is at the moment I will,I use traditional and quicksets, but last season was crap so they didnt get out,how much are the short stop nets ????
  18. I've never heard anyone with a massive knob say that! Long and thin goes further in, but short and fat tickles the t***, any way whats wrong with a short gun if it works
  19. Its not what you have got but the skill in which you use it makes the difference
  20. When they said shops are open,[ cruel horrible barbarian,] would have said you were shooting targets, whats cruel about that target shooting is a pastime of discipline, and patience,I would have then said where do you think shops get it from, you bigot then walked away,we are constantly being discriminated against by these people until all country oriented people, are gone
  21. I think most people who have been brought up with, or close to guns understand them, and even if they dont partake in them themselves, dont particularly bother too much around them, as they are part of the country scene, its the ones who dont see them as a way of gathering food or control of pest, ie towny vegetarians [the ones who seem to control the media]I think veiw them as bad and do everything they can to highlight them in a bad negative and biased way, then you have got the difference between the cities and town's, alot of people in the cities are not exposed to guns in the same way, and t
