You see this more and more often,I remember as a lad finding duck nests away from water but more so now,I wonder if its in any way to avoid mink or otter,
  2. Had them off there before bud real bad hatch rate once bitten twice shy, It was ebay mate I tried for two yrs all under bantams, and they were good brooders both had hatched chicks before, granted not partridge chicks, but both birds were not novices, I've had eggs sent from ebay a few times - all v poor hatch rates. I pick them up in person now - much better success rate. I think the post does something to them. I agree mate but I unfortunatley I have no local supply that I can find I am up in cumbria,
  3. I am sure you would enjoy ago over here, and a bit of interaction with you boys from accross the pond would be good to share ideas, did you ever consider the suggestion,I pm d' you if you remember it that is
  4. Thanks for that heads up dunc, I would prefer to deal with a local keeper but don't know any up here ,that rear grey's I vowed not to get back into pheasant shooting when I came up here,so lost a lot of keeper connections and most of the lads I knew are either dead or have moved on now,
  5. Will you let people over here trial them at all Steve, Or would you do all that yourself ??

  7. I am not sure how your area as been affected with it,but our area has been hit bad with fluke over last twelve months, so I would be carefull with feeding raw at the moment,
  8. looks like a trip to the vets, then as there's been loads of it about in sheep this year where I am,
  9. I know this might sound stupid as its something I have never really thought about, but while I was mole catching this morning the dog caught a rabbit in some rushes,I gutted the rabbit as I waist nothing, but when I opened it up is was in a state its liver was in ribbons with liver fluke,so I disgarded it thinking it was better off dead, then after I had got to the next farm, it dawned on me could a dog pick liver fluke up,as it happend my dog didnt go back to the carcase, but in the past I have known him try and eat the guts, So question is can a dog get liver fluke, from infected animals, and
  10. There's a lot of good info in that link well worth a read, when it gets to rimfire calbers there's always big debates,
  11. I thinks sometimes people have been that greedy they have bid all sorts of stupid money at the land owner to get the stalking, that they have outpriced there stalking so much the only way they can make there money back, is to inflate there price, and to put it blatently obviously on the stalk price would stop people from booking so they have hid it, in small increments,so the client does not see it in the same way,in other words fleecing people like a car sales man,
  12. To me what you have said is spot on,scotland is particularly bad for this,I they have in my mind started to price out the ordinary stalker, always looking for them visiting dutch or german visiting stalkers, who get particularly well fleeced at times, and when it comes to paying for there skills, well having 28 yrs stalking under the belt I find woodland stalking a lot more challenging/and satisfying than hill stalking, and trust me there's plenty of very expierienced stalkers in this country who never bothered with DSC,
  13. It's an odd thing like Christmas,a real surprise although I have only had a couple well done mate,
  14. Spot on thankyou I have joined up too,in order to gain knowledge as I am a little thick around partridges, but love the bird I was hoping someone in cumbria might be willing to share phone numbers in case I need advice, but that website looks good, thanks again

  16. Call me sentimental, one calibre has always been in my cabinet and around me since a very young age,I use it regularly and enjoy doing so every time, thats a double 410 I have often thought of getting 410 slug on my firearm cert, and would like to find no5's for for it,I know I have other guns /rifles but the 410 is dear to me,
  17. Hi can anybody point me in right direction,I am looking to find some grey partridge eggs to hatch and release this year under clockers,I am not looking for a large amount just enough to try, and get them breeding locally the place is devoid of them, only a very few redleg's,dispite having good hedges and plenty of rough ground,I have got one of the local farmers on side with releasing them not to be shot, just to see how they will fare,I havnt got masses of money to throw at the attempt, but any direction would be great,
  18. this is a very good point, and a common fault with new shooters,I had the same problem in the mid 80's when changing from double trigger to single trigger, I would also take heed of what sporting shooter said about giving it a good service, but I would make the dealer do it as a fault, remember you have rights don't let him fob you off, be firm
  19. Edger bros, are quoting £89.99 per 100 http://www.edgarbrothers.com/pages/Sting-em-with-the-new-17-Hornet.aspx?pageid=2706 I wont be buying one of them then, they want to be heat seekers for that money, bet its worse to reload them or can you????I was looking at the 22 hornet last wk, its a gun I havnt owned, think I will stick with the 223,
  20. I think everyone is waiting to hear if these are any good,I have the 17hmr,and have threatned to try the 17 rem but now waiting to see what the hornet is like,I have heard people say they will burn the barrel out, well they said that about the 22.250 17 rem and allsorts of rounds,I have allso heard people say the ammo will be expensive, truth is its a dont know, but some of the lads on here will start to trickle information on shortly as they get more and more distributed around the country,
  21. People never cease to amaze me,we ought to have a name and shame wall on here with all the dog and equipment thieves that we catch on it, as a warning to others, I hope who ever nicked your traps gets caught be the right people

  23. I have tried both in the past and I must say I started again last yr after a long lay off, I will be trying to stick to ingredients this yr kits are ok for a quick, brew but from the real stuff is best in my opinion, although I find to get hold of the ingredients can prove challenging but this year I will order off the net, this is one I am going to do for next christmas 2lb dark dried malt extract 1lb light dried malt extract 1lb of cracked crystal malt 4oz goldings hops 2lb brown sugar 3lb white sugar good beer yeast I made this ten year ago and it was spot on left it about 6/8 month
