  1. Great picture pal, was it first thing in the morning?
  2. I won't beat about the bush here, I am just amazed that an feo has given her a ticket for a .223 and .17 when quite clearly there isn't even basic knowledge there of how to use a scope. I am now really wondering what knowledge she has of the effective and maximum range, the risk of ricochets and over penetration and the need for good back stops. Now fiona, don't take my answer the wrong way, but I have been looking at some of your other threads aswell, and seriously am wondering whether this is a wind up.
  3. Once your rifle is zeroed, you will not need to turn any knobs on your scope to hit the target, at that range, unless adjusting for wind. However depending upon the distance you zero it at, you will have to aim off or adjust the further back from that zero range you will go. Just like with an air rifle I really dont know what else you mean when you say " will I need to turn any knobs to know when my target will be in the centre of shot?" It isnt the sort of question I would expect from somebody who is used to using a TS. If you mean something completley different, please explain.
  4. You will need to zero any scope to a set distance, which involves "fiddling" with the adjustment drums. I am guessing you are a complete novice to any form of rifle shooting, so I am guessing you are either joining a club or being mentored by somebody. They will be able to offer good advice to you. The question you have asked indicates that you may need to get a bit of shooting experience behind you before you start on live quarry, for the sake of the animal. No rifle can just be point and shoot there are to many other variables you will have to consider, in all but zero range in ideal
  5. Some right good pubs down some of the backstreets. Pokey little ones, in ancient buildings.
  6. They are good milegajo, I have a week off work soon, so hopefully there will be plenty around to photograph when I am off!
  7. Yes got them now, but I have to click on each symbol. Nice autumn colours, are they all your pics Milegajo! I saw some nice mushrooms today but didnt have a camera!
  8. It might just be my firewall Milegajo, but no images have come out on my computer!
  9. Yes, some slag him off, but I think he is great and a good ambassedor for the sport. My kids love his video and if that means they love ferreting, then he must be good Seriously though this time of year just before we start, they always get it out, even though I have plenty of vids of them ferreting
  10. She's great, she hunts and she loves the country Personnaly its nice to see simon on there with her to.
  11. :hmm: NO! only the expanding types of .22lr I am only talking about the HP he has asked about. Fair enough but it didn't read that way to me, when I see ALL, I see ALL! "I think all .22 LR is classed as expanding, yes" No worries pal, and we dont see enough of your threads on here, as I think you bring quite alot to the rifle forum. That isnt just because you like the hmr
  12. :hmm: NO! only the expanding types of .22lr I am only talking about the HP he has asked about.
  13. I'm not into target shooting so it may be different for 1000yd competition, but it will take you 100rds to wear the barrel in. You would only have 900 left to play with Did some work with the marines in the mid 90's, and they claimed then they were changing some barrels after 2000 rounds, but times have changed! A Sauer ehh..........very nice rifles!! and in .243 that will be very sweet shooting! Depending on the barrel twist it may be worth looking at the 75gr ballistic tips for fox, if you want a lighter bullet, or why not just stay with 100 or 105gr for everything?
  14. It will last you alot longer than that for field shooting, provided you look after the throat and the crown. An Ackley may last a little less. AI barrel life is about 10,000 rounds if looked after, cleaned and de-coppered at regular intervals etc. Fast burning super velocity rounds will probably last less.
  15. I really dont know, but I am going back 40 years when I used to use it, and it looked at least 20 years old then!!
  16. Its not a peashooter, I dropped a few young pigeons and sparrows with them as a kid. One of my uncles had it, but would never give it me permanantly. Its not really up to hunting, but it was good fun. I always remember it having BSA embossed into the furniture.
  17. I think all .22 LR is classed as expanding, yes. There are however some match bullets, such as sierra matchking, that are hollow point by manufacturing process, but not by design, and therefore not classed as expanding.
  18. Never let the truth get in the way of a good rumour!
