    Took the dog up a small hill. Not quite a munro, but the biggest on the western tip of ardnamurchan. Stunning views from all the way up, and the weather was kind to. The one picture that shows a halo in the mist, was quite a wierd thing to see, as I could see my shadow in it, but I couldnt see my lads shadow, who was stood right next to me, and vice versa! It was good to hear and see the tail end of the rut, even though the dog tested my patience a few times, wanting to get in amongst them!

    Weather changes by the minute at this time of year and in the space of minutes, it would go from, rain to sunshine to hail to sleet!

    Just come back from a week or so in Scotland, colours are great at this time of year, and these pics dont do it justice.

    That must have been pretty unlucky to get caught up in that, unless it had been using its hoof to turn it over or something like that. Interesting.

    Took the terrier for a quick blast across the moor last night, just as it was getting dark, in what felt like 30 mph winds, and it was good to see a nice few woodcock coming back. He put up half a dozen, from the long heather, on one bank, in the space of a few hundred metres. We had a disastrous season for them last year and had a self imposed ban on shooting them, but hopefully this season will be better. Is anybody else seeing them coming in yet in any numbers?

    If its the west country, I think that is where I have seen them in the reed beds on telly.

    Great Undi. We used to see big flocks like that, when I was a kid in Shropshire, always at this time of year, but haven't seen one like it for years
