  1. What stock is on it, and how many mags do you have?
  2. 11.8ft/lb using a hevey pellet will take it over the legal limit Not exactly true. If he sets it to 11.8 using a heavy pellet, then it might be ok. I agree it's really far too close to the limit for safety, as the rifle might prefer a different pellet and fire it at above 12 ft.lb. Max for safety is around 11.5 IMHO. Remember that plod only needs to make it fire ONE pellet (not one type of pellet, but a single pellet) at above the limit for you to end up with a caution, and lose your gun. I take it you are talking physical changes to increase the power, as if the power is
  3. The Rapid is a great rifle, and in .20 you should love it. As for the .25, most people use them in FAC guise as the larger pellet tends to be heavier, and so much slower in sub 12ft.lb guise, and so has a very pronounced parabolic trajectory. That's not to say that you can't shoot it accurately, but your range estimation and trajectory knowledge have to be that little bit better to get good results at range.
  4. Indeed, or it could be that it was never in true to start with. Many rifle barrels have bores that are out of true with the circumference of the barrel blank, so if the thread is cut true to the outside of the blank, then it is not true to the centre of the bore, and clipping can occur. Try a different mod, if it still does it then you either need to get the rifle replaced, or get a competent gunsmith to recut the thread.
  5. If you were closer I'd have this off you. Really fancy a semi for pest control work!
  6. Nice shooting! Davy, you going to Highclere? We're heading over on monday (thought it was today and tomorrow, so trundled over there this morning only to find I'd got my dates wrong, d'oh!) Next time you're up this way give me a shout, drop in for a cuppa!
  7. Oops, that's a stunner! Congrats on the ticket, and good luck getting the ammo issue sorted. Maybe they can issue a temporary permit of some kind to cover you while they reprint the FAC?
  8. Pleased to hear that mate can't stand the plod Utmost respect for those that serve in the armed forces though :notworthy: How can you differentiate? Plod face dangerous situations day in and day out to protect you, no matter how badly you treat them. They are one of the armed forces, but without the actual arms. You might "hate the plod" but trust me, if they went away overnight, you'd soon be moaning about the crime!
  9. What sort of lamp is it? You'll get more interest with a pic and a proper description!
  10. Don't suppose you have any more of these? Need one as a prop and that's the best price I've seen.
  11. What a load of old piffle from the firearms lot at your local plod (and from a lot of people on here). Read the condition on your FAC. It will say something along the lines of "for use over land which the holder has legal authority to shoot, and which is deemed suitable by the chief officer of police for the area in which the land lies." So, there is NO requirement for written permission (though it might be sensible to get it if possible, just to make sure you actually DO have permission) and anyone who says otherwise is utterly wrong (my local plod tried to tell me I needed to send th
  12. 2 rifles (with one more coming very soon hopefully) 1 shotgun 5 air rifles 3 air pistols 1 crossbow 1 pistol crossbow Anyone want to start a small war?
  13. Hi mate, is this still available? PM on it's way.
  14. Holy thread resurrection Batman! I would also suggest the usual, get the crowning checked and recut, check all stock screws are correctly tensioned, consider bedding the action. Check that the barrel is either free floating, or is properly supported depending on the design.
  15. The golf range finders generally work on the basis of having a known height to measure against (usually the pin height). Unless you can persuade buggs to hold a big white pole with a flag on top, they'll not do you much good. I bought a brand new Nikko Sterling laser range finder off eBay for £70, and it's brilliant!
  16. If I'm out hunting I would have good reason to have it. If not, then why carry it? Problem solved! Looks like a nice knife.

  18. The ultra needs some practice to get the loading cycle smooth and quiet, and you'll almost certainly double load a few pellets before you get it off pat. There are three different actions needed to unlock the pellet probe, push home the next pellet and then cock the action. The R-10 is much simpler and more difficult to cock up. Having said that, both are tack drivers if your technique is up to it.
  19. Hmmmm, I might keep the scrotums of the next few deer I shoot, that's quite a cool idea!
  20. Modern spec for removing a shotgun from the requirement for an SGC would be to drill the breech face, plug the barrels and slot the undersides. Older methods might be acceptable if they were certificated as de-acts at the time. Lead can be easily removed from a barrel by heating, so it's not an accepted method.
  21. You can make anything you want out of rabbit skin, but it's very thin so it's a pain to cure it properly, and it needs a reinforcing liner to stop ot tearing.
  22. Depends on the model, but most of them you'll do better throwing the gun at the bunny rather than attempting to shoot it with them, they're cheap and nasty Chinese rubbish!
