  1. I get 1/2" groups with Sako Gamehead 55gr SP factory loads in my 22-250. Mark.
  2. I wouldn't be surprised if one police force calls them Vermin and the other calls them Birds for your FAC. Some of the English FLO's seem to make up their own version of the firearms laws nowadays, regardless of what the HO guidlines say!!!!! I know a few years ago of a BASC employee who did an annual cull on feral Greys as part of his job. He used a .22 rimfire. Mark.
  3. The East Of Scotland Association For Wildfowling and Conservation are running a continuous online auction, offering various lots of different sporting interests. Please have a look, http://sportingauction.yuku.com/ Cheers, Mark.

  8. Here's a good tip, If you ever capture the A-team don't lock them in a barn full of farm machinery and welding equipment!!! Oh.....and do everything your stalker tells you. Mark.
  9. Sheamus, You look a bit of an amature photographer to me. For a real posing pic you should have a Roe sack with your machete laid on top. The rifle (I take it you used one?) should be propped against the sticks (bolt open to avoid flack from safty nuts) and your Lurchers, sorry..... "Deer hounds" should be more visible than just a set of distant eyes. Stick with it and you'll get there one day. Mark.
  10. Hi FD, Well done, that's a nice looking buck and one you will remember for the rest of your life. I know how you feel, I've had some bucks that I've looked over for a few years before they've been stalked. At least you know it's background and appreciate what you've had. I had some Dutch cleints last year who shot some nice trophy bucks but didn't look twice at them once they'd been grassed, they showed no respect at all. Really pi55es you off when they are bucks you've been familliar with for a while and you put a lot of effort in on their behalf. Needless to say, they were re
  11. Martin, That's the kind of buck that I love, something different. Keep us posted if you catch up with him. Mark.
  12. Go with the Schmidt & Bender, you won't regret it. Mark.
  13. I don't think there was an Artemis range before the 2000. It was followed by the 2100 and the 3000, then Meostar. I have a 2000 7x50 on my .270 and think it's a very good scope. http://www.meopta.com/index.php?id=232 Mark.
  14. Add another vote to the .243 list. Mark.
  15. Perfect scope for the job, I have 2 and they go well on my .22RF and .17HMR. Mark.
  16. Have a look here, http://www.rmacleod.co.uk/shoptics.htm Mark.
  17. Beno, Simmons do a good range of variable scopes that won't break the bank. I have one on both my .22 (WTC 3.5-10x50) and .17hmr (WTC 4-14x44) and they do the job. Well worth a look. Mark.
  18. For that price you will get a good pair of mid sized bino's of good quality. Have a look at Minox, Steiner, Optolyth or Eschenbach. You may just about have enough for some of the top end stuff in a compact, Look at Leica, Zeiss or Swarovski. Mark.
  19. They have a nice stalking prize up for grabs here, http://sportingauction.yuku.com/directory Try a bid, you might get a bargain! Mark.
  20. Well done. I bet your farmer would be a happy guy now, veg farmers seem to be the hardest to please of the lot. Cheers, Mark.
  21. Selvey, I had a single Grey and my mate had 2, evening flight on the forth. There were a good few small bunches of greys coming in but made very hard shooting where we were because they came with a strong tail wind. I had 3 chances and only had the 1 goose, pretty poor shooting! I ended the season with good memories though, 11 grey's in 5 flights from that particular spot and all my geese came off the foreshore. Cheers, Mark.
  22. Tom, It's a nice wee spot out by the river channel off Seaside. The pinks always land out there if the tide is right and your willing to wade to get back in. I shot 2 from there last night. Cheers, Mark.
  23. Selvey, Well done with the geese! It's a pure white Greylag (rather wild) and has been using the roost up past Seaside for the last 2 years with the rest of the migratory greys. I'd guess it's an albino. I had it about 100 yards off me at christmas time out on the mud in a bunch of about 200. We've been out for 5 flights and 2 stalks this week, managed to get under a few geese getting 10 in the bag and 4 Does. I'm back out on Friday for the end. Cheers, Mark.
  24. I understand that on most stalking ground people can't afford to leave Deer as cull figures and landowners have to be satisfied. I'm lucky that on most of my ground I can leave old Does be, as the trophy bucks in my area mean good money, for the landowners and me. Some may say an unwelcome factor in modern stalking, but a fact non the less. I also have a few veg farms where no deer are tolerated at all, here the old Does are the first to get whacked, leaving dribs and drabs and a few young bucks moving through in the spring. Cheers, Mark.
  25. They are my first choice when it comes to twin cab 4x4's. Mark.
