  1. It's true Fife is a special place! Here is a Gold and Silver shot yesterday in Central Fife, the gold weighs 750g but has only just been freshly boiled so will loose a bit yet. Mark.
  2. I know very little about them but my mates Mrs won best of breed with her Saluki at this years crufts, she's based in Fife. Mark.
  3. Take the little ball off the end and you will see a small hole with a tiny screw inside, turn this to adjust. Mark.
  4. Here are a few pics of some bucks shot over the last 4 days. They weighed 576g, 551g, 525g, 500g, 479g, 475g, 473g, 425g, 399g + we had 2 small cull bucks. Picture Slideshow. Cheers, Mark.
  5. Some nice heads there. I've been out myself for the last 2 days with 2 Dutch clients. We have had 10 clean antlered bucks, 3 of which are Bronze medal weight and 2 freak heads, also a nice neat 7 pointer. Lots of clean heads around here in Fife. Got another 2 days left on their trip but we are concentrating on the areas I have medal heads so might only shoot 1 or 2 more. Will post pics when I'm less busy! Mark.
  6. I saw a guy today shoot 45 Woodies for 57 shots, some of the best shooting I've seen lately. Most people average 3-1. Mark.
  7. You won't beat the real thing, dead birds every time for me! It worked on Saturday for this happy client! Mark.
  8. In the £300 price range your not going to get any 8x56 in the top end glass unless you get second hand. In the new stuff at that price you won't beat Minox or Steiner in my opinion. Mark.
  9. Try Graham Christie at http://www.dunmhorsporting.com/ He's a trustworthy guy, I'm sure he will sort you out with a good holiday. Cheers, Mark.
  10. Try www.pigeonalldaylong.com but be quick as there are very limited days left for 2008. All our clients get the choice to take their birds home, the gamedealer gets the surplus. Cheers, Mark.
  11. There are more pigeons in my area (Fife) this winter than I have seen in the last 15 years. They had a very long breeding season last year, shot our first squab on 31st March and was still shooting young birds in mid November! Had some good bags of late, huge numbers (4-5k) of birds in some areas, this years going to be a good one!! Mark.
  12. 11.2" on a Gold medal Roe buck I shot 3 years ago. See my avatar. Mark.
  13. It's very interesting all this ringing info, some of the ducks can travel amazing distances in very short times. I've had 18 rings over the years and waiting for the info back on 2 from this season. Here's one from the past that got about a bit. Cheers, Mark.
  14. Well done guys. Sounds like you had a good weekend. mark.
  15. Fenbo, I have the Marlin in a 10g. It's like shooting with an old fencepost IMO. You will need to get the removable mag welded in place if you want to use it for it's real purpose....Geese. You will get a certificate to prove that it is limited to 3 shots, this is the same as the semi auto law when 5 shots had to be restricted for anything but vermin. Mark.
  16. Thanks guys, I try to take the camera with me every time i go out, kind of a picture diary. Mark
  17. Bigeddie, Have a look here, http://www.cictrophy.com/MeasuringGuide.html Mark.
  18. Well done P&G, That looks a heavy beast. Nice to see the young un enjoying himself too. Cheers, Mark.
  19. GG, I would tend to agree with you there but the skull itself looked and felt rather large and this can make all the difference to weight, I'll know better whan it's boiled. Either way it won't be getting scored anyway. I had a definate bornze and two borderline bronzes last year that I didn't get scored, now if it was a silver/gold......... Cheers, Mark.
  20. Well done. Thats a great bit of sport. Mark.
  21. Thanks guys, Foxshot, My father is a guide and I help him out at the Pigeons quite a bit. These birds were from Friday only, we had about the same number again yesterday. For the bright windless conditions, plus the fact that half the county has been drilled in this dry spell were having, we did pretty good. Foxy, This wasn't too heavy a buck, 38lb head and legs off, he had pretty worn teeth. He seems to have a large skull with big pedecles so I'll know better when it's boiled off. Might be bottom end bronze. Cheers, Mark.
  22. After an exhausting two days out pigeon shooting (800 birds shot), I decided to go out myself with the gun this morning to a farm where we have a lot of game crop planted in with yellow clover, the deer love it. The farmer has been moaning about them grazing his winter wheat field next to it. I stalked in on 5 beasts and shot this nice buck out of them at about 150 yards. Shedding it's winter coat. Last weeks beast in the chiller. Cheers, Mark.
  23. I know someone who shot 56 Wigeon with one shot from a punt just a couple of years ago. Mark.
  24. V-Max, I had a buck tonight with a broken tine end, Mark.
