  1. Tree hugging rabbit shaggers! Brilliant ? Not for long though lol ?
  2. Should be more effective than droves of bull cross toting southerners, traversing scotlands wilderness! ?
  3. Same here, my best catch dog by far weren't exactly a great looking dog lol
  4. Definitely not. But that's me. There's been a few times over the years where I've fancied a stronger, sounder looking pup over it's siblings, and by the time they're 7 - 8 months, mine have been slightly overtaken physically by a couple of the other siblings lol.
  5. I'd also add, that some of the replies to the collie greyhound at stud thread are also a load of bollox. I've owned and worked running dogs since 1977-78, and I've shown one dog, once in 1986. Just because someone prefers a well constructed, attractive looking dog doesn't mean they only keep it for show.
  6. And unless you've got a crystal ball, you aint gonna know how it'll work when you pick it as an 8 week old
  7. BULLSHIT!! Been reading the collie/grey for stud thread last couple of days. And the same words keep cropping up by some members regarding how a dog looks. Absolute rubbish, when you go to visit a litter of pups, and they're all friendly, well socialised etc, do you pick the ugliest f****r in the litter, or one that's a better looker?! How can anyone tell how good a worker a pup of 8 -10 weeks of age might make when it's adult?! Looks don't matter, BULLSHIT!!
  8. Yeah, but he does 'teeth', so he must be worth breeding from ?
  9. A bit like you mac. Got rid of my last three fairly recently, last one, my HW97 KT, to my son the end of march, birthday present for him. But would give them a once over every 2 - 3 weeks whether they needed it or not. And apart from my fairly oldish HW80, which I bought second hand off a mate, and that left my possession far better than when I bought it off him, they all left me in pristine condition. I know some lads that only clean theirs once every 3 -4 months, but that to me is quite indicative of a lazy person, lazy mind.Been watching your threads about refurbs etc, and to be hon
  10. Welcome mate, you'll fit in well with the bull cross lads on here ?
  11. Nice looking bitch that. Has the look of scottish hare hunter's dog about her. How old she mate?
  12. Come on now fellas, these days it's all about finnesse. Yes, I agree, bowsaws, chainsaws, ripsaws, even hacksaws have their place,........... but 'coping saws' is where it's really at. ........... AMEN ☺
  13. Or more correctly, what he does know about whippets isn't worth knowing ☺
  14. There are 5, 3 owned by one person, that live about 3 miles from me, the other 2 owned by 2 different people, that live less than a 5 minute walk from me. I See them pretty regularly. The first 3 I mentioned are owned by someone that really does understand the breed, and has had the same and very similar breeding for years, and his dogs are phenominal animals. The other 2 are owned by people that are swayed by all this crufts shite etc, and the difference between the first 3 dogs is alas quite shameful
  15. This post pretty much sums it up for me too phil. Was never interested if my dogs were the 'ultimate' type for anything ?
  16. Jesus H christ! I know you don't like some of the lads on here, especially me ☺, which I'm more than comfortable with, but by f**k, you don't half spout some shite! You don't big your dogs up, or consider yourself an expert?! You own and breed the best bedlingtons in this country, you are keen on telling people on this site regularly enough. And no-one has your knowledge of bedlingtons, again, you keep telling people on this site regularly enough. Ffs change the tune. We don't all have to like each other on here, but please, stop making out you're the bedlington messiah. Oh yeah
  17. Black neck ............... agent PROVOCATEUR ☺ ............... ? ?
  18. You never seen a good one then?
  19. Well, I don't know about any first cross type being the best at any one thing. But I have to say, the first cross deer/greys I have seen, have been better general alround lamp dogs, taking good numbers of a variety of quarry, than any other first cross. I'll duck out now ☺
  20. Not having a dig here mate, but does it really matter what he wants it for, or if there are better types suited to what he wants it for? He wants a first cross deerhound/greyhound ?
  21. One of the best I've personally seen was a mate's border/lakeland x sealyham/russell. Must have been about 35 years ago. Border/lakeland sire was brought down from the midlands, sealyham/russell dam from the valleys, south wales.
  22. Bill, I'm assuming 'grilf' would be 'granny I'd like to fumigate', or somthing along those lines ?
  23. I get what you're saying mate. But surely if you outcross to a type that shares your dogs original lineage, then it aint 'really' outcrossing, more breeding some of the original blood back into your lines? And by the way, just to clarify things, I am in no way a bedlington expert or whatever, but have a couple of mates that are, compared to me, and these days wouldn't touch a kc beddy with a bargepole ?
  24. There'll probably be someone on here to come along to put it all into context. But as far as I can ascertain, fell, border, beddies etc, come from the same rootstock, so I wouldn't really think you'd be too far away from any of those breeds by adding a drop of related blood, then breeding back in anyway. If that makes sense
