I get what you're saying mate. But surely if you outcross to a type that shares your dogs original lineage, then it aint 'really' outcrossing, more breeding some of the original blood back into your lines? And by the way, just to clarify things, I am in no way a bedlington expert or whatever, but have a couple of mates that are, compared to me, and these days wouldn't touch a kc beddy with a bargepole ?

There'll probably be someone on here to come along to put it all into context. But as far as I can ascertain, fell, border, beddies etc, come from the same rootstock, so I wouldn't really think you'd be too far away from any of those breeds by adding a drop of related blood, then breeding back in anyway. If that makes sense

I've not owned a bedlington, but know a few that have, or owned them in the past, either pures or mainly beddy bred. I certainly don't have much personal knowledge of them at all, ............ but can hear the absolute bullshit spouted about them on here a mile off, and by some long standing members ?

I follow some of these bedlington threads from time to time, and I've a question to ask a couple of you bedlington lads, especially morton. I've been interested in bedlingtons for years, and I've read up on the history of them as far back as you can go, and EVERYTHING I've read has said how versatile an ALLROUNDER type terrier they are, rabbits, rats, and fox etc, not just digging dogs. So why do some people on here bang on about them as being solely digging dogs? Genuininely interested, not looking for an argument.
