  1. Was batan's dog a 1st cross gsd/grey? I read somewhere years ago that it wasn't, I think it might've been in the shooting times, as it was called then, countryman's weekly now
  2. You having a gentle dig at me sir? It's ok, I get it now lol
  3. I'm not the best shot in the country, but I more than get by. I'm not the best dogman in the country, but I more than get by. Why does someone have to be a failure at something before they take up another aspect of hunting, sport or hobby etc? Oh yeah, I'm not the best angler in the country either, but I more than get by there too. Not being big headed either. I think if more people took dogs, shooting etc, and themselves, a little less seriously or competetively, they'd probably have a little more success and enjoyment out of it all. Toodle pip chums lol
  4. I can only echo what villaman has said, even down to the preference for pellets. I'm still getting well over 120 shots with H+N and JSB, and over 130 shots with AA fields. Power is the same, give or take, as villaman's as well, though slighly higher with AA FIELDS than H+N FTT and JSB EXACT Will not be buying another pcp
  5. Nice that is mate. Been using opinels since 1979
  6. Looks like it's got a great coat on it mf. Not a 1st cross pointer/deerhound though?

  8. his he a pure whippet , or something else in him .? Why do you think there might be something else in there bird? yeah had me thinking too,lol...hes a pure whippet small skinny but mad as hell. Lol I've had a few whippets over the years, all pure whippet, but only two not being kc registered. And when out in the field, all of them being afraid of nothing, and keen as f**k to get at and get on with whatever got up. All this 'whippets need toughening up' is a pile of shite, they don't need anything added to them to toughen them up. Anyway, that looks a nice dog jigsaw
  9. his he a pure whippet , or something else in him .? Why do you think there might be something else in there bird?
  10. Well, thanks for the interesting replies lads. It was indeed an innocent question. @ neems, thank f**k it's the solstice tomorrow, only another three months left of the silly season lol
  11. Plenty of meat in one go and really nice to eat too when cooked right. I still love a jugged hare too, cooked in a rich gravy with a bit of red wine or guinness in it and served with mash and greens. I hear that a lot of places where I had happy times running hares in Lincolnshire they have become almost extinct since the ban. What a sad reflection on modern life.
  12. Yep, same here really for the last 10ish years. Lamping bores me nowadays. I'll go now and again with my lad
  13. Yeah I know the ban is in place, but what WAS your favourite quarry, 'pre ban'? Personally for me it was hares, and like gamerooster said, deer get the old heart racing
  14. As above, what was people's favourite quarry to hunt, and why, when we still had a bit of freedom to do it? I know, but it's already been a pretty long summer! lol
  15. I would say that if you want a saluki too run quarry in this country then you would fair much better with one bred from parents that have done the job here or at least one parent that has, that's is just my opinion though, seen a lot of imports and not many made much impact, think they loose a bit when they getting carted all round the world, pup time is important for socialisation, its a massive thing taking a pup from one side of the world to the other, and again does any breeder ever truly sell his best stock from any litter, I know I wouldn't myself, I want first and second pick, I want th
  16. Totally with you on your comments v m. Can't find a fault with mine either, and getting well over 120 with H+N FTT and over 130 shots per fill with AA fields. Like you say, not pellet fussy, no flyers etc at all. I am not the best shot in the world, but this 110 makes me look damned good! Lol. Love it, and it's going nowhere. Don't know how to put pics etc up, so people will have to take my word for it. Suffice to say, two of my mates, one that already has a HW100 KT, and the other a BSA R1O are both buying one a s a p. Amazing rifle
  17. I really struggled with what too do, and its this statement that kept ringing in my ears, cause in reality its the stone cold truth, you really don't know what you are culling at that age, even at eight weeks when they taken some shape and shown a bit character etc, its still impossible to tell anything real solid, look at some of the great dogs take breed or type aside, the real top end ones are all shapes and sizes within the breeds and types of crosses, some say larger litter harsh on the dam, my argument their is properly prepared the dam should easily cope, plus we do our bit by making li
  18. Don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't be culling any of those, or any litter that I bred. Total bollox if someone says they can tell which ones are going to be the better pups to keep out of any litter
  19. Cheers Shaaark Toms answered better than I could have mate. I don't usually go for skeleton stocks either but, now that I've held this, I can see the attraction - it's going to be a piece of piss to carry round all day That's more info than I had before mate I asked about the age of it on another forum but, I was told that Falcon never kept records and, the seial number doesn't give any kind of date. Mid 90s will do me though - right around the time I left school so, this will be roughly 22yrs old, give or take a bit. I also never knew that John Bowket had a
  20. Yes mate dam coursing lurcher Buddy x Roxy Not up on my coursing/saluki peds. They look pure saluki, how close to being pure are they? Cracking pups btw
  21. Looks a cracking little rifle, and I'm not that keen on skeleton stocks lol. Forgive my ignorance here, but is falcon a british make, and were they out before brocock, as that looks very similar to the contour?
