edible mushrooms
Rake aboot replied to staffs riffraff's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
Aye I`ll be honest mate ! if you dont know what you`re doing,,,dont do it. get yourself a good guide and learn to identify them. for instance,,,I could put up a pic of a common field mushroom that is quite edible and tasty,,but you might pick one and not notice that it goes bright yellow when you cut it and be poisened cause it`s a totally different mushroom that looks almost identical. I pick and eat lots of mushrooms but you must learn to identify,, it`s pretty easy and well worth the time. After saying all that,,giant pufballs are pretty easy and make superb soup !!! make sure -
Aye RIP Ari Up Never new she was Johnny Rottens step daughter. ATB

Aye Lothian and borders issued me with a SGC with no cabinet. At the time (a good while back) my FLO was OK with me chaining the shotgun to a pipe in the loft.!! adequate precautions it was called !. Cant see many allowing that now though. Back to the case in point. You do not need to have a cabinet fitted to be issued with a SGC. You`re FLO may be a bit stroppy about it but thats just the luck of the draw. These blokes vary from area to area. ATB

Aye yeh Fettes is the L&B headquarters and licsencing dept. They were totally happy with it,knowing that the seller never even had an fac The P8 can be bought with a 17 insert and can be used for an airgun (overkill) so you wouldn`t need an FAC to own it. Result is an understatement,,,was well chuffed

Aye There were a trio of nice early Belgian boxlocks in the Countrymans Weekly today. One of them was from around 1910 and after a discusion with the vendor I have bought it for 50 quid. Will make a nice wee s/s for bird days to save me turning up with my camo semi ! With a sling on it will be a handy wee tool on ferreting days as well. ATB

Must've seen me coming! But just check that yours has a hole in both ends!! Right,, the bloke had bought a job lot at a couriers undelivered auction. Included in it was the p8 complete with 243 insert. He thought he had an air rifle moderator worth 50 quid (forgot to correct him) I was the only bidder and got it. RFD gunsmith fitted it and put it on my licence, I checked with Fettes and you dont need it on ticket until it`s going on a gun so they were happy for me to buy it and have it put on ticket. Hence £50 on e-bay !!

Aye It seems my work here is done!. Just for the record, The original issue has been resolved and it didn`t really concern the fact that it was a hare, The issue was about killing without reason or need, which was discussed to conclusion around 4 pages ago. Jeez ! think ah`ll have a bottle of wine and berate masell for ruining everyones life!! ha ha!! ATB YIS OMG PMSL

Aye Good luck finding the ferret. They might come home, Mine did, at feeding time. If it`s pissin down it might help keep it a bit closer to home. ATB

No problem mate its all water under the bridge ! trust me none of it will be wasted as I hate wasteing anything I shoot, I scrounge as many of the Pheasants that can't go to the game dealer off the keepers or should I say as many as I can get in the freezer, all handy for the Ferrets.... I should have worded the original post better and saved alot of Hassle! Must say I won't be shooting another for a long time if ever, its not a animal I really want to keep adding to my quarry list whatever gun I am useing.. atb Jasper No worries mate. Looking back at my post, I suppose I did c

Aye My question was based on your statement that you had no idea why you shot it cause you weren`t going to eat it and you had vowed never to shoot another. It just reminded me of the fox with an airgun type posts that end up having to be deleted by Mods Did not really intend to offend anyone ,it was simply that the post read like it was made by an inexperienced hunter.(which you are obviously not) but the post just seemed to show an unjustified shooting of an animal, which I`m sure any anti would point to as ammo for their case. If you feel offended I appologise that was not m

respect for last nights fox
Rake aboot replied to murphymax's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Aye Ooooohhh!!! You can fel the sarcasm dripping of the page,,ha ha ha Nice shooting. ATB -
If you feel the need to have a pop at what i do feel free, but from from an early age i've be brought up that the only good fox is a dead one i dont torture or wound i only depatch then as quick as possible to keep the shoots happy(need more foxes} I still stand by what I said. And you have convinced me even more that I am correct by stating that you were brought up to believe every fox should die regardless. I will not get into a personal debate here but you should look at your own statements and try to look at that from others point of view. Question: How do you justify shooti

Aye Up early Jimmy!! Have to say I agree with what you have said. I can understand both points of view ,but after all this is a hunting forum. I dont usually take pics but still like to see other peoples results. Not all pics are very graphic. I personally make sure that all carcasses are disposed off in areas away from view and where they will be scavanged easilly, and I don`t just "wing them". cant stand lack of respect for any animal. One thing I am wary of though (without drifting too far off topic) is the pics and accounts of large numbers of foxes being shot by the same fac

Aye I`m sorry,,but am I missing something ???? Why did you shoot it ?? for a laugh ???,,,just to see if your airgun could kill something that big, no ?? Give us a clue as to why you killed it, if not to eat??
-
Aye I think I`d be tracking that fellow down, and making sure he saw the error of his way. Scumbag!.

Aye " I don't understand why everyone doesn't like hunting, its f*****g great...... " Ah ken,, get the antis on here,,so they can see we`re jist like other folk !!
