    Forget all the pish. Simple question if your thinking of a pup from that litter - do mum and dad graft hard and well at what you want pup to and come from lines of dogs that did the same. Bitch could be a purple giraffe and dog a brass monkey and if they are genuinely doing the business i'd say go get yourself a purplebrassmonketgiraffe.

    I'm skint and spend my money on other shit, so a very large chunk of my meals involve fresh caught game or frozen game, and lots of it is passed about for favours, swaps etc and the odd bit of cash. Why waste money on food when its all over the shop lying, hopping, swimming, growing etc about, and its free!!!!

    Rabbit shit means nothing. Can be lying there months and when it rains or the air is damp it looks fresh. Same with 'active' looking holes. Get a decent marking dog, its the only way to go. And aye, could either be disease, other hunters or just the usual, you ALWAYS over estimate the number of rabbits on a piece of land.

    I always thought that more people do than don't. I think any dog that will take non feathered game will scoop up a bird if given half a chance (if not specificly broken to them) At the end of the day catching a pheasant up against a hedge or in cover is far easier than running a rabbit for a wee pup? My current pup caught several pheasants before taking his first rabbit. If you live in an area where there are shoots and birds wandering about i would be very surprised if your dog never took one. Remember the classic HJKC F&F ?????

    The old wives tale was that with snapped teeth they couldnt kill in. Same sort of folk who believe that not feeding them makes them work better and that handling them makes them soft. It also doesnt work in any way, my mate has a big old hob with well snapped canines and he kills right. left and centre. The only thing it achieves is to make it more miserable and irritable, as often they get tooth decay and infection.

    If your going to raid some bins, go upmarket and try M&S, much higher standard of chuck out than tescos! And they pretty much just stack it in nice handy plastic crates to take away, if you lucky you can get a ton of steak, blue cheese, veg, anything, still good for use by date, just the display date has gone or the packaging is marked.

    No mate, although an all rounder is great, i dont think you can have a dog that is purpose bred and trained for a specific job. Until you see very good gundogs working (and i dont mean retrieving shot birds in a field from a gun line. . . .but WORKING) then you dont appreciate how purpose bred they are with regards to size, shape, build, mentality etc. You do see a lot of shit gun dogs now tho, fat labs. A good lab, looks in build closer to a greyhound than a fat lab, long legged, muscled, with a tucked waist.

    The sad but honest truth is that if you got no cash then you probably shouldn't get a dog, and certainly not multiple. They are an expensive hobby, if you think what they cost over their lifetime. When getting any animal you should always think about what your going to need to give long term, money, work, time for it. Too many folk decide they want a dog today, get one tomorrow .. . . . and chuck it away a short while later. A mate of mine found a very nice collie/grey pup not 4 month old, running about the carpark in town skinny as a rake, bad skin, piss stained fur. Chucked out a car.

    Couple of rats are one thing, hordes of the fuckers are quite another. Depends on what your facing. Either way a smoker is far less hassle, and you'll never end up having to dig down and stick your hand into the rat infested filth to rescue a smoker.

    I use a 25 inch side by side for a lot of my rough shooting, as little is ever that far away. Works a treat. Wouldnt use it on driven though.

    You shouldn't need to weigh a dog to know it's at it's proper weight, your eyes should be able to tell you all you need to know, if they can't you've got a problem. Just for you I've weighed my dog he's 24" tall and weighs 51lb. He's 3/4 grey/ 1/4 collie X whippet/ [3/4 grey 1/4 collie]. I fully agree with regards to condition mate, but when it comes to worming, you need to know weight in order to give an effective dosage. I'll be very honest with you mate. I just said it to goad folk into responding. Sorry. . . . but it worked. Haha. Trust me what i said will be nieth
