  2. Its an american company doing the census and under the patriot act they got to give up all personal and private info collected to the government.
  3. If you fill that in your giving all that info straight to the U.S gov. And its costing a packet - thats being payed to a yank company!
  4. There are loads down south and round the south west, forest of dean etc. Bit of handy info - http://www.britishwildboar.org.uk/
  5. Out on the mountain tomorrow.

  6. I think thats the point. Big challenge. No one enters. You win.
  7. This season the best 'experiances' were probably, in no particular order. . . The pups first mark - walking through a wee wood, he suddenly pulled toward and marked a small set (on lead due to road), and i nipped home and got a ferret, drove back and bang, one in the net. A good start for the pup. Pips first slightly comical catch - attached to a lead, tied to a shovel, rabbit skipped a net and he uprooted the shovel, dragged it through the woods, through a two strand fence and caught the rabbit. A pleasant morning spent ferreting one big set with the two dogs and johnnyboy68 off
  8. As he said its very early, it will come as the days draw out. . .
  9. Aye we are over run here, they are everywhere and spreading/increasing all the time. They are starting to become a proper pest and not just to cattle farmers, they root the fields up, dig their holes everywhere, and move off the rabbits.
  10. i'm very friendly with your Mrs' She'd eat you alive matey Or chop you up and feed you to her ferrets!
  11. Could be absolutely hysterical, depending on who they stuck in with him.
  12. If you dropped a big one it'd take some shifting. They are dense as f**k. Pretty hands on as well, you got to be up for some pig leaping. An alaunt would probably be just the ticket but if you were going looking for the big ones i'd prob still suggest a chest guard. P.S i kinda got some pet ones by me And they scare the f**k out of me to be honest (I have to get pretty close to them)
  13. As I said H4H got mentioned but nothing specific about their cut? possibly a free mating? Y.I.S Leeview
  14. They are f*****g everywhere round here. You see them day and night, even just rooting up the road verge. Its fine/fun to run into a half grown, or little one. The big ones here are f*****g HUGE, and pack some punch, especially if you get between sow and young. Very much worth a mooch tho But you need the right dogs unless you want to bury yours.
  15. My grandfather used to keep similar dogs when he lived in India, i think there are some old photos/slides somewhere i must dig them out and scan them one day. He said they used to hunt anything with them, mainly pigs, deer and small ground game such as baboons etc, but they also took part in hunting leopard, wild dogs, and even a man eating tiger once (they were often worked along side a gun as well). They were also general guard/compound dogs. He said the ones he had were local running dogs, with a bit of hound in the mix, both local and imported. He also claimed that some of the dogs had gre
  16. Air rifles . . . . . . again . . . . .
  17. Could you kill a rabbit? If not you may have a problem.
  18. Finally a man that speaks sense . . . As Big Zook aint answered i guess he was just taking shit then. . . . .
  19. So after getting insulting and 5 pages of arguing "Big Zook" never did answer the questions . . . .
  20. I reckon most whippets from whatever lines should be able to chase and catch a rabbit, but that doesnt mean they cant hunt.
  21. NO I`d say it was obeying a basic command .So we should all let DOG chase DOLLY the sheep, just because he fancies it?. Now THAT is way off topic, stick breaking IS a basic command and stopping a dog chasing sheep is NO WAY in the same league as calling a dog of legitimate game, when most of the time you let it run and catch that game. OK not the best example .But any dog that you do not control is a liability in any given situation and the penalties could be severe. Yes an i have NEVER argued against that, i would expect to not have to call my dogs off sheep, cattle
  22. can easily be done. 1/4 collie is a good place to start. not as sensitive as a half cross and a little more forgiving of mistakes. you may have to adapt your training methods from what you have had before, especially if its gundogs etc. as a true working lurcher needs to be able to think far more for itself at times. At the end of the day what you talk about is basic obedience and that should be the starting point for the training of any dog spot on regards 1/4 and 1x, 1/4 collie will be a good dog to learn with . Of all my dogs ive had, i would say my 3/8 bull 5/8 grey Tod ,
  23. I get what your saying mate and i agree both are optimum, a do or die attitude shouldnt over ride good training and a good dog/handler bond, i'm just betting that there are few dogs about that work well that if they were running game in open ground and had turned it a few times, were getting ready to put a strike in, and with a single command could be made to just give it up and come back. . . . . Totally agree with that, had one that was that responsive at times, and we all want to pull something at the end of a run. But we have all had the occasion where, once a dog is on that the nee
