  1. I think that's what folk confuse. People are not disturbed because they hate the thought of foxes dying, or because they believe they own all the foxes, or because they want to run the foxes with their dogs. Many here would do it if needed in a second. They are disturbed because, what exactly compels someone to post up a photo of two dead cubs on a public internet forum looking for a pat on the back and some kind of recognition from a bunch of folk they don't know? Always seems to be the young or the dumb, desperate for some kudos. There is also the fact that it's a job that n
  2. 1 - Do NONE of you fuckers have jobs? 2 - Bird, how did you get on you dirty old man? 3 - Giro, you're my hero. I went to b*****d work, then had a mooch with the dogs.
  3. Your right there It's also the question of - if you wanted to train a lurcher (probably collie based) as a gun dog you could, but you would be dismantling the lurcher in it. Not sure you could have a lurcher that does its own job very well AND that of the gun dog very well. You'd probably end up shooting your lurcher. And then you have water fowling, few lurchers would stick that at its toughest.
  4. Get two pairs of trousers on and get in there! I'm often to be seem around my locality leaping in hedges or diving into patches of brambles
  5. 100% rabbits. And just a point, some of the folk here always seem to moan about 'doggers coming on here and winding people up etc', but to be fair, it pretty much always seems to be one of them that starts flinging insults etc first. Just remember, when someone questions you, or what you do, or has a different opinion to you, they are not immediately 'on a wind up' or 'being a dick'. It's an open forum, despite some thinking this section is a private members club. And as Tyla has said many times, a lot of folk use air guns, shot guns, catapults, dogs, ferrets, hawks and fishing rods et
  6. Only time it's really worked is woodpiles / brush piles, hay barns, silage bails etc.
  7. Aye always makes you wonder why people do these things. Even if the horse had just got spooked and a bit jumpy, it would still put a child that age / size at risk in an enclosed paddock. Mind you having said that, quite rare i'd say that a horse expressed its anger like that.
  8. bet my mrs is the insider shes mad as fook the pup keeps taking her pants an bras off the line dont know where he gets his interest in bras an pants from When it comes to your missus, i'm the one 'inside er' ....nice theres an old saying involving a pin and a nail cant remember it can you jai Aye mate i do.
  9. They are animals, let them get on with what they do, unless it is causing obvious problems. It is natural that one will be more dominant than the other. It's only a worry if one is obviously suffering and being denied food in a way that is damaging it's health. As has been said before, cows milk is a no no, but goats or soya milk doesn't contain lactose, so is ok if you want to give it as a treat.

  11. went out hunting around a week ago ratting, loved that, and when i was younger i used to go the beach with my mates greyhounds, we was kids but we loved itt It wasn't a dig mate, we can all see that you are super keen Just a lot of young lads get 'really' into it, really quick, and then often the enthusiasm fades a bit and the mutts get put aside. Good luck though, just try no to get anymore before the season starts! atb
  12. Best laid plans and all that . . . . Good luck anyhow matey, and i really hope when you finally try hunting with the dog for the first time that you will actually like it.
  13. Bogger, i'm gonna rob you mate! Planning my assault on the Bog Water kennels as we speak. Clucky's my wheel man
  14. Pups, especially Bull breeds, tend to be Orally fixated. It's one of their few means of expression.
  15. Before you start taking him about sort his jabs first mate. Apart from that, just as much exposure to as many different things as possible in a controlled manner. Positive experiances!
  16. I agree a lurcher probably wouldn't be any good for field trials but they would be fine for what most people use retrievers for. I'm not doubting that mate, well actually i do a bit. But it makes me laugh when people think field trials are just retrieving a few dead birds or something. I agree you couldn't ever do well in field trials with a lurcher no matter what. Most working labs are only used to run a few yards and pick up a pheasant though. That is what I think a lurcher would be capable of. That's not what i would call a workinng lab. That's a shit dog whatever

  18. Pup should make a good dog, the sire and dam look handy. Just take your time with it
  19. I like well trained spaniels a lot mate
  20. Fair enough mate, but it tells me you know nothing what so ever about field trialing gun dogs But yes mate the right lurcher isprobably one of the most versatile working breeds around.
  21. I think I know what you,re saying about being stressful, I think if you had a pack running about mad it could be a right pain in the arse But I reckon if you had a small team of the right mix and controlable it would be a joy to see them working It's not so bad with the right land. If you don't have roads, or permission boundrys to worry about it's ok. If you know the land you can just let the dogs get on with it, and as long as they are all going in pretty much the same direction its happy days. It helps if you have enough quarry about that they have focus together rather then a
  22. WIth the car, build it up slow. Go sit in the car with her not moving. Then just drive a fey yards etc and then take a short drive and give her a good walk and play etc. Hopefully she will start to understand that it isnt that bad. My current dog hated the car at first but is now ok for most journeys, but is still usually sick at least once.
