  1. Well built, my type.
  2. Shame for the dogs they look half decent. Surprise surprise it was white vans
  3. There is a gully near me, on one of my farms. Johnnyboy and i often go there and i take the dog and ferret there myself quite a lot. Its very narrow at one end, but opens out into a wide bowl. There are maybe a dozen warrens in it of varying size, and usually on any one day a couple of them will hold, and you will find one or two above ground. It's a pleasant place to spend and hour away from the world.
  4. I wish i could find someone to take them frozen for an ok price. I got about 500 in the freezer
  5. We have a few. I quite like the one in my garden
  6. Mate. . . it's only funny, because before i had got down to your post, i had typed Wangford into google maps, and realised it's only 3.5 hours away Very tempted to head over tomorrow Need to come up with some kind of plan for my day but alas the man flu is here . . . .
  7. Some excellent looking dogs on here, you have a great team there Busher, i remember seeing them before, very smart!
  8. I guess that's one of the reasons so many dogs are changing hands every two seconds...people just getting one and getting on with it without putting any thought in, then realising they got the wrong one for them. TBH i agree in part wat your saying ands its only my opinion but going on wat ideation has said i think the crosses mentioned will suite him and the only way hes going to find out is by getting one. I think i've settled on the kind of x mate, it's just finding well bred litters now. And maybe seeing some dogs work. I've always been one to do a lot of research and looking b
  9. Not so i think mate. I believe there is (or at least was) something in the law that allows a certain penetration across a boundry in order to clear rabbits - i.e ferreting boundry hedges. Also i think there was something where you could deman they carryed out some kind of control on the rabbits if they were damaging your crops.
  10. Anyone got any idea of anywhere within 100miles of south wales i can get a good price?
  11. Where was that mate? We have spare rabbits at this time of year!
  12. I'm trying to dig up the law regarding crossing over someones property boundry in order to clear some rabbits that are causing a major problem? Help.
  13. Aye mate, it's about finding the right litter though isn't it. You gotta have it for maybe ten years, so it might as well be the best you can get and the most suited to the task needed. Buy in haste, repent at leisure. I'm also hoping if i keep going on, some one will point me in the direction of a cracking litter.
  14. Does it have to be longnetting? Can it be ferreted? Either way, give us a shout, we come down to somerset a fair bit as it is. Plenty on here can vouch for us! Jai.
  15. Thats pretty much what i need matey. Did you notice much difference between span / terrier and span / terrier / beagle.
  16. What pisses me off more is the same folk, living in some suburb somewhere, watching re-location re-location re-location and deciding that they want to move out to the country. They them move out, buy a small farm or small holding, don't farm it, but buy some wellies, some kind of lame mutt, usually badly trained, and generally spend their time looking down on true country life, whilst thinking they are living 'the country life'. Came across a prime example the other day, a woman came down to turf us out of the hedge dividing her and her neighbours farm. Her neighbour (our employer for the
  17. Yes del, i am leaning toward a spaniel / hound or spaniel / terrier at the moment. Does anyone remember who bred those cocker / teckles ?
  18. Busher - them pups sound great! Smily - a bit of everything mate, and i have thought t teckle, but the price and pure hound puts me off. I saw some cocker / teckels on here ages ago, that would be ideal.
  19. Ignore the idiots! It's pretty sound of you to join the site, in search of knowledge, despite your reservations about killing bunnies. I have killed a crazy numbr of animals in my life, and yet there are some i would rather not kill, including doves and anything such as a weasel or stoat, so we all have our foibles. At least you have thought it through. I'd rather a ma who does not want to kill rabbits, than one who wants to kill rabbits just to have killed something. And i will also support the HW idea - great guns, some of the best on th market. And as inbred as RA is, he is j
  20. I've targeted carp and other course species in eastern europe with stuff like bread patterns and blobs and similar, and the odd plug type popper fly.
  21. Thanks busher. Very helpful Smily - I'm sure the dog works well for you, but it's not doing exactly what i want if it's 22". We have runner here that can hunt cover and woodland or hill side all day and find game, but no dog of 22" can get into the places we want it to. It's dogs for jobs.
  22. Saw some military stuff used once on a night out, worked very well, interesting way of doing things.
  23. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear, (to you), in my post; I'm not a ferreter, I don't own ferrets, and my dogs NEVER work with ferrets, even though I enjoy a days ferreting. If I had a dog that could be called of "the hunt in full flight with a simple NO !" Then it wouldn't be in my kennel for long. It's desire, drive and instinct would not be what I wanted in a working dog. Cheers. Why You have out of control dogs do you have any bidablitly in your dogs or does your desire equals unruly dogs. You can have a dog with strong prey drive and instinct but still have total co
