  1. Nowt like respectful and reliable even if your poaching QUOTE At this point, we were at the edge of our permission, with plenty more to ferret inside, however the dogs had run a rabbit over the boundry and to ground, and as you do. . . . we ferreted it. Two more in the bag. While HD and I were doing this, JB was netting another set, which unfortunatly led to a kill, and a dig, to a ferret, but a rabbit we couldnt reach. The ground was like bell metal, so it was a slow procces. We thought we would try one more adjacant set, before calling it a day, and soon enough had our final days
  2. Sometimes farmers don't pass your name on, because they want you to keep coming to theirs, even once you have caught all the rabbits. Funny folk! But aye, it's all about who you know, and word of mouth is great. Also bouncing from neighbour to neighbour. Well done mate P.S - Cookie, the art to poaching is either to go where no one cares, or when no one knows.
  3. Aye, as lab says, eventually they wise up to it all. Killbilly - i say it is gos and buzzards mate, cos we can sit and watch them doing it, bloody things! We do have a few charlie around the estate, and those that cross in, but the kills are inside the pens, and like i said, you can see the buggers doing it.
  4. Aye, they would probably keep the bops away, but cant imagine having radios and bangers in the pens would be that good for the poults staying in???
  5. We were out ferreting a couple of weeks back, ad a caught myself on the cattle electric fence, and aye it was sore! But the dog dinged himself off it at least twice after rabbits and didnt bat much of an eyelid!
  6. Aye that's another route, but feck me, we have a lot of them. And the Gos are worse.
  7. Nope! The old bitch is still sharp a a tack, for eight.
  8. Been bad local, so we had to put some miles in.
  9. lol I think he might mean in a release pen . can only speak of buzzards. choose a nice foggy morning (joke). Not much you can do legally. Yep, release pens. They are our biggest taker of birds by far. i suffered but a legal method which orks although messy looking is to suspend a line of feed sacks along the rides about 18" off the ground. i also have strip light around my pens running from the electric fencing, works wonders at night for keeping the fox and tawnys at bay. Aye, we tried hanging stuff above the release pens, cds, tinsel, feed sacks etc, it worked up to a
  10. A good chunk of the immigrants that grace these shores, will be treating the above mentioned cancer patients, and will be very well thought of by them.

  12. It's interesting you are ranting about drugs and your name is DARE.
  13. Just a wee video. Please don't cry because it's more than one dog, that's kind of the point.
  14. Anyone got a genius idea (and legal) for trying to reduce the number of poults we lose, inside the pen to buzzards and gos hawks???
  15. Drugs have been taken since the dawn of time, get over it, it's the governments fault that people make so much money off it. If it wasn't illegal it would be easier controlled, dafer and the money would not be made by folk who in turn use it for far worse things. P.S, I have done it in my life, and i'm not a bad guy.
  16. Which rock you been living under? It's amazing how many folk take a lot of drugs and don't really understand how it works.
  17. Aye, i'm surrounded ny lovely places mate, you will have to come visit, there is a good choice of woodland, mountains, valleys, beaches, rivers etc to explore. And some good pubs. I lost my phone mate, so text me (got my old number back).
  18. I wouldn't agree with that mate. you don't have to agree,we are all entitleld to an opinion but my opinion is based on the facts that i was out ferreting in the early 50s [pre mixi] with men who had been ferreting in the 1800s, those men thought locaters were the best invention since the steam engine ,but if those men were alive today the would tell you,,,,,,,, ,with or without a locater ,ferreting is not the best way of catching and controlling rabbits . I know not everyone has to agree. But can you suggest what, at that time, would have been considered a more efficient means of rab
  19. Cheers all! Donk - aye mate, he managed to find the only rabbit hole on the farm and the single stray pheasant from the shoot next door, but other than that, nowt. That's why i could take some pics of him this time Maximus ferret - Aye mate, we get a few sewin, nice fish, but i mainly target the little brownies, on the evening rise. The squares are solar panels, and there are 22,000 panels in total apparently, i have not counted.
  20. Decided to go for a walk Friday afternoon for an hour or so, a long the river by me, there is next to no game on the side i was on, but it makes for a nice relaxing walk with the dog. I'm lucky, i have right to hunt both banks for a good stretch, and the fishing as well. I'm really looking forward to spending my summer evenings trying to fool the local brownies into taking my fly. Just a couple of photos.
  21. I will tell you something else, i am not in the hunting game to gain 'credibility'.
