  1. Just a question, but how does being KC reg, make the dog less of a worker? If its worker x worker bred and registered, its as good as any other working bred dog. It's nt like the KC bred the dog? I agree that the KC are shit, but it's nice to see a KC animal that is a 'proper' worker, it's a shame we couldnt reclaim the whole thing from the idiots. There is also a difference between a 'non kc' whippet and a 'non-ped'. I wanted a whip, not a whip x grey. This was not aimed at you and I didn't say that KC reg Whippet will be a less of a worker I didn't suggest you aimed it at me,
  2. It's shit round here for miles and mles, work hard all day with the dogs hunting like mad for 6-12 a day on average, and we rarely find more than one in any one set, even if it's 30/40 holes.

  5. Robert meek comes down to a place about 15/20 mins from monmouth. But the track would also probably know someone.
  6. Back to the original topic though, i've been to a couple of shows and whippets nd beddy/whippets do seem to attract some funny folk, the proper show crew. We were at a show a few weeks back and i was stood with my lad in the pissing rain for hours, and just before the whippet class i was thinking, it's going to be one quiet class, with just me, and then just as the class was about to start, van doors opened and whippets appeared everywhere. Didn't look like one of them had chased a bunny in their lives. I'm proud to say my wet through, cold, miserable looking, wee lad, still took 2nd, despite
  7. If the vet doesnt know 100% or if they say its muscular etc i REALLY would advise a bone man. I have used Robert Meek, he comes down to a kennels in the forest of dean and will see the dog for ten quid, best tenner you will spend!
  8. I just meant, as in, check i was not going to be moving to an area that was all keepered estates etc, that there was some chance that i would be able to get land to hunt And thats a good thng on the quarry front.
  9. Is it hard or soft? I would try a vet, but if it is muscular would really reccomend a visit to a bone man (dog osteopath).
  10. I got one that does it every summer, over the other jills, thinks she is their mum, spends all day dragging them into the next box and trying to 'protect' them by going for you, she is mad as a box of frogs.
  11. I'd go down and see if i could land some permo first, but that's me. Also, would not entertain it unless there was decent head of stuff to hunt.
  12. Hello mate, like the dogs, and have a few questions. The pups look quite light and racy, which was round was the breeding done? What kind of height / weight was the collie, and the whippet used? What kind of heights (and ages) and the pups, and what height are you hoping they will make? Is the this end point or are you planning to cross back to a whippet or something? How much speed loss is there next to the pure whip and what other differences do you notice and hope for? The reason i ask is a mate and i have discussed this x at length for the future.
  13. Sounds good to me, i hope it was a male wild chicken, as they can be sitting a nest this time of year and its a shame to kill off future sunday roasts. Have you tried an earth oven though, good fun and work very well? Also, why not build yourself an outdoor overm it's quite easy.
  14. Two questions. First - have you ever tried an earth oven? Second - That wouldn't be an out of season pheasant would it? I guess it's road kill, or one from your freezer that was shot in season?
  15. Any advice on putting together an enclosure for quail? Was planning on getting a few hens and a cock, to get eggs and also let them rear on what eggs i dont want, for meat for the table and also for the ferrets / dogs. Was thinking of just knocking some posts in, with some batons to make them higher, then running chicken wire around it all (with a bit buried), with scaff boards a long the bottom, and a shelter at one end. Will roof it with chicken wire. Any tips? Leave it grass on the bottom? Do i put foliage / brash in there etc? How much space do they need? How fast d
  16. Get a goat or something and tie it to a post in the yard, or a pile of offal if you dont fancy risking the goat, and then hide down wind of it and get a decent photo / corpse for us to check out.
  17. Caught a lot of perch on buzzers, sometimes it's a real pin in the arse!
  18. Next cock muncher who shoots a milky vixen on arable land round me, and calls it pest control. . . . gets a slap.

  19. Aye what a total c**t, the bloke lets you shoot on his land, but doesnt stop and make polite conversation with you. b*****d Ferret features - its going to go down real well a kid giving shit to an older bloke who has given him permo!
  20. To be honest mate, if he thought you were a young dickhead, he wouldnt give you shooting permission. Some farmers are just funny buggers and can come across very off and grumpy. or maybe the dog is nicked if you bought it in?
  21. Bulgaria is great, just remember nod of head means no and shake of head means yes. . . . . can get you into some sticky situations if you forget that
