Just to update you all, the fencing is up, shelters pretty much done, etc etc, all good to go, and just waiting on the next market day to go pig shopping haha.

Would you have another full whippet or a different type if you were in a position to get another dog? I am in the position of getting another dog, and not a whippet, but if i lost him, i would replace him with a whippet. If that makes sense. He has limitations in some areas, but excells in others. But if i could have only one dog, he would do me, im not sure if i would get another whippet if i could only have one, simply because im not sure i could replace him, ive never had another, and i think he's a wee b*****d but a great hunter.

They sound eastern european. I bet they were told it was a Jr by the friendly irish bloke they met in a pub, with one for sale.

Pure over half cross mate, I would expect it more if it wasn't but as it isn't Lurcher x Lurcher I would of thought it def throw more to bull then the grey Yes mate, that would have been my thoughts. Genetics are mad though, you never quite know what you are going to get, the owner of the estate by me has a 20" tts, maybe taller, pat, from a litter of all spannable earth dogs. . . . .

To be honest, i think most folk with some kind of clue at the time, very much expected a war in the former yugoslavia. But i concur that i would rather hve them on my side, well the bosnians anyway, than the brits. I've played paintball against yugoslavians in a bombed out sarajevo tower block, it got emotional, it hurt.

Malt, you hit the nail on the head, too many countries wanted it as a sign or modernity and progress, and basiclly were never going to be able to all of a sudden become something they were not.

Don't know a huge amunt bout them, the dogs or the people, but seems to me that they are doing ok, i'd say that they have one of the most consistent and workable lines of collie cur about at the moment. They are dedicated, andput the miles and time in, to get their dogs to where they are, so dont really get the point in folk getting all agro about it. Met frankle and he was a REALLy nice lad, nd went out of his way for us. Have had the pleasure of fooling with a minshaw pup for a month or so, seems to be put together right inside and out for the task in hand. There will alwys be crabbers.

BTR - Was it a straight pure over half x, or lurcher x lurcher, that that percentage?

Alright mate, the sire is a border collie which I have owned since he was 8weeks old, & mum a whippet, my collie stands at 20" tts, and currently weighs around 22kgs but thats because he's now almost 14yr old but he was much lighter in his better days and was my marking dog for many years and his intelligence was & still is remarkable. He came from a litter of small collies that were bread small for many generations, he was the biggest in the litter. The whippet stands at 18" tts & weighs 14.5 kg. The pups are a few days short of 7months old, the mostly white bitch pup currently

I care about the song birds, corvids are my main quarry, I shoot hundreds every year! Foxes are just an essential when possible because of the lambs and gamebirds. I know mate, i wasn't speaking of anyone on here, just some of the fok local to me.

no way! that is ridiculous.....what were they searching your bag for? Taking photos of police officers beating a guy up, and refusing to get down off a bus shelter and give them my camera memory card.

yeah I found that at the back end of last season, absolutely loads of warrens either empty or with just single rabbits in them....in the last 5 or 6 sessions of last season I think I found about 3 sets that had more than 1 rabbit in it. Well wierd! I wonder if that's why you seem to see more foxes about these days? Cos they have to travel further in search of prey? See more foxes? Chance would be a fine thing, all been shot around here!

I think what is very sad, is that we need to think about whether we need a close season on some species, even 'vermin'. In days gone by, these pest animals, were very heavily controlled in areas where that control was needed, i.e, where their prescence was having a negative impact on farming or rearing game for shooting, however in areas where they were not doing much damage, they were left a lone much more. As such, things kind of evened out. Also, people were sensible, and understood the need for bio-diversity, and the importance of apex predators such as the fox to the health of the food c

A police man once tried to do me for posession of a weapon, for having a small ash tray in my bag, they can be right c**ts at tmes.

Aye, Bron loves jumping as well mate, can't pass any stack of bales, car, or in fact anything, without having to climb / jump / scramble on top of it. She accidently ran a bunny yesterday, put a couple of bends into it, pushed it out of an over grown stream bed where it took refuge, but unfortunatly it made the saftey of a silage bale stack. Edited to add, think she is now 21 1/4 tts.
