What's with this place lately? It used to be pretty good, once you learnt to ignore the whole, e/u, micro, angora, weasel x, bollocks. But now its getting as bad as the lurcher section . . . . with 'my warrens are bigger than your warrens' and other bollocks. It's not rocket science, it's just ferreting, sure, there are a lot of folk who don't have a clue, but once you have figured it out, it's not so hard. I'm starting to think i shouldnt take any more invites from folk on here up, christ knows what they must think of my unruly dog, my ferreting partners smoking on the job, an

How come people care so much what other folk refer to their dogs as, as long as they are not using totally made up claims in order to peddle pups or make money? I wouldnt call these lads peddlers in a million years, if they were. they'd have sold me a pup by now

Biggest i seen was probably about 300 holes. Seen some big sand banks and hill sides in scotland but it usually turns out that they are not all connected.

We feed meds first, then growers, then back to meds then growers again. 1 week, 2 weeks, etc.

Puts stuff to ground. Marks. Doesn't kill ferrets. Holds netted rabbits. Catches bolters. Doesn't whine or make noise. Fairly steady. Anything else is a bonus.

If you have to do it, youhave to do it. But it makes me laugh when folk say that they are getting hassled by the farmerto go and clear pests,and then come back saying they went out and had two or three rabbits.

I got an 8th of teckle in my pup, but she has thrown very much to the teckle in a lot of ways i think, very driven and fairly nuts. Only 4 months though, so when i saw driven i mean in her attitude to the things she encounters rather than hunting.

If we're any good at our job, each rabbit should only see a ferret once. So, in my opinion, those who often talk about rabbits that have seen ferrets before are talking bollocks. Joe Aye, you are right, i was meaning to say predater (including man).

I'm not sure what you are reading . . . . but may i suggest a change of literature? When a ferret is scared etc, it stinks like buggery. A good worker, really works, they are BOD's (bolt or die), and will scour that warren from top to bottom. Most (not all) ferrets will enter, and so bolt a few, but not all will really 'work'. It's all in the breeding and to some extent the entering.

I think some folk are just a little bit mental. Now. . . . i have done a fair bit of ferreting in my time. And i would say that there are some very rare occaisions, when you find a place that norabbithas ever seen a ferret, and when old stinker goes down, the rabbits do pop out like corks from a bottle, very quickly, but i have decided that this is mainly due to the fact that one rabbit encounters the ferret, panics, bolts, and the others bolt, due to becoming aware of the predetor (because it's buddy is exiting like a rocket). If it was just the smell, thenit would be oh so easy
