  1. This fox earth is quite typical of the ones found localy a 3 or 4 holer about 4 ft at deepest. Here is the Border pup searching it again today hopefully it will teach him that a bit of scent doesnt always mean theres one at home.
  2. Had a good morning yesterday but had no camera so went back today to take some pics.I wouldnt normaly bother but the Border pup immpressed me and I like to keep a record of things like that.It was only meant to be a walk around one of the local parks just to exercise the dogs but who looks a gift horse in the mouth. . 1st earth
  3. Good pics, very intresting to read about other countries, the terriers that work there and the different quarry species and defenses they use.Always imagined Racoons to be the size of small cats.It would be a big head that a davy crocket hat would fit made from that racoon.
  4. Sickening to loose a good terrier.Best of luck with the pups.
  5. There are some around that will still put a terrier to ground in undigable places (rock piles etc) even in diggable places there are a lot of unnecessary call outs where people panic after a dog doesnt show or they cant get a mark, only for the terrier to walk out a few hours later. In most circumstances I cant see why a wait of 24 hours before getting on the phone would be unreasonable. You can wait around for 24 hours if you like or you can do it in shifts or you can block the holes in with sticks ,rubble etc leaving a jacket inside the entrance. Might be bollocks to some but perhaps others mi
  6. . so to me you have got to do your best for your terriers some do some dont,//// i know you should,nt have more than 1 to ground but it was just a sunday mooch about, and maybe i should,nt of put my bitch in, but you live and learn .... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ive attended a couple of rescues and your description of entering more than one terrier is quite typical( and perhaps creates problems),and quite a lot of the time buy those who should know better,as long as lessons are learnt its not all in vain. A bloke I know generaly wouldnt attempt a rescue for atleast 24 hours believ
  7. That's a completely pointless cross, deerhounds arent exactly short of stamina Personally I cant see that a saluki/grey x deerhound/grey would have anything <{POST_SNAPBACK}> :11: Thats when Deehound blood is usefull when its bred down in size and bred up in hunting/killing instict. You put a Deerhoundx in a competition with a salukix [bANNED TEXT] if you want to bet on the Deerhoundx theres plenty would take your cash :11:
  8. The size wouldnt be a problem if they had the heart(gameness) to go with it.Plenty of breed blind people in this thread [bANNED TEXT].Ive seen good dogs of all breeds except Deerhoundxs.Perhaps there are better Deerhoundxs when compared with others of the same breed but when compared with good dogs of other types they just dont cut the mustard.Just my opinion of course.
  9. Well thats dissprooved that all Bullxs are great lumbering beast(to be honest mine isnt the fastest ).It was the bit about them all being totaly untrustworthy with other dogs and just waiting for the chance to destroy their owners and families that got me smiling most. All dogs should be treated with the respect they deserve any dog can be aggro Ive found the majority of Bullxs(not all) to be easily kenneled and a joy to own. If I didnt have terriers I would probably have racier type lurchers.Horses for courses.
  10. :11: :11: :11: :11: :11: Some post on here are good for a laugh :11:
  11. mik,I had to pay jordan a fiver to put that bit in.
  12. Nice pics [bANNED TEXT],Ime glad you enjoyed it I know its not a numbers game but I was hoping to show you a few more, thats the name of the game. The thing that pleased me the most was the Bullx finding and holding the mark. It was a good weekend and all those years ago aswell
  13. Very nice .What does it matter what others think as long as the dog and owner are happy, good pics.
  14. Jordan Ive just had my grandad on the phome wondering when he can have his spade back :11:
  15. I saw this dog in the flesh 3 days ago to be honest the pictures dont do him justice, hes a strong dog and just a pup!!
  16. Mucker, the pup is 8 weeks old today, she looks massive the picture is missleading.
  17. Spitting image of the sire when he was that age. Here the litter brother both pups going to be strong by the looks of it.
  18. Nice strong looking dog there Mik hope all goes well with him.
  19. I always like to work them as a pack Why work single handed when sometimes you can squeeze 4 or 5 into an earth! .I always like a dash of Plummer in my terriers,it toughens them up.
  20. Some good opics there, dont know anything about Beagles but is he a straight Beagle as he looks a big dog in the pic.
  21. Heres 2 brothers both game, both reach parts other terriers cant(wont).
  22. It aint the size thats the problem its the lack of heart and ability that gets me down with straight Deerhound/Greyhound crosses.Heard plenty of talk but still havnt seen any that would change my mind.
  23. The more you get a dog out especialy as a pup IMHO the less injury prone it will be ,hope she gets well soon.
  24. I realy do give a f**k what people keep in there kennels :11: . I do have a soft spot for hard/game terriers but as long as they get the job done. We all no bayers bay and dont make contact because there a bit scared of the quarry, thats probably why people who like to get the most out of an animal who realy test it like game dogs.
  25. What about a dog with a bit of both, game but will also use its voice.
