  1. Point taken mate, and as said one for the pot is one thing, commercial poaching quite something else.
  2. What I am trying (obviously not well) to get across is that I bet everyone of us commenting on this subject, has poached something over the years, be it a rabbit, that cock pheasant just over the border of your land, a trout from a stream owned by someone, the list is endless, but I think the man who says he has never done it is either a liar, or shoots from his armchair
  3. I dislike intensely using any kind of biblical quote, however "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" does seem rather appropriate in this instance.
  4. Good plan, I have no experience of Hatsan air rifles, but if they are anything like the shotguns, they are not worth a wa*k mate, ultra,r8, or an s200 will all be miles better, and .177 is the way to go mate Say,s the man that buying a 22 and a springer to boot :tongue2: :whistling:  atvbmac I cant argue with that Mac,well I can add extenuating circumstances lol, like SFS wont do an Imp in .177 so I am considering buying a 99s and doing it myself, made rather a good job of my 77, as the 48 yard squirrel I shot stone dead this afternoon would no doubt agree with, h
  5. Hope the lad proves them wrong and makes a full recovery.
  6. How very true mate, I just hope if I make it to his age, I am still fit/strong enough to drag a red carcass, there is an old boy lives round the corner from me,similar age late 60s possibly just 70, feck me, he is fitter than many many blokes less than half his age, rock climbs, cycles, rides a sports bike like a nutter, runs about 10 miles 3 times a week, I rather admire him, as I do the old boy referred to here
  7. Nice pup there pal, always good when they get first blood, I bet you were well chuffed, how they dont get bitten sometimes is a mystery.
  8. There are one or two who are ok like the old boy who seems to be leading the group, been in the jungles, and by the sound of him pretty much everywhere, possibly ex special forces? But I am afraid most of them would be dead very quickly, that boar trap looks as much use as a chocolate tea pot, no way is that heavy enough to kill a boar, a piglet maybe, I doubt it would even penetrate a boars hide, it is going to get grim for most of them real soon
  9. Or our resident, leftist apologist mole Pesky, I expect he will be along soon to tell us to show some tolerance, as these are just a tiny minority who give Pakistanis/muslims a bad name, we will all get our knuckles rapped for being right wing, knuckle scraping Nazi bully boys, when in reality all we want is this kind of thing stamping out, and for our country to remain ours, but then that would not fit in with the plan the "progressive" left have for us would it?
  10. Matt, I normally enjoy your posts, and you are obviously an intelligent man, but in this case I have to disagree,if it was my permission, and there were loads of deer, as the lads who know the ground are saying, I can honestly say, hand on heart, if I caught some old boy, 70 years old, with a deer grassed, I would find it amusing, I would sit down and watch him gralloch it, in the hope of learning something I would enjoy talking to him, about his shooting/poaching life, and enjoy being in the company of one of a dying breed, I understand your point, having your ground poached is not pleasant,
  11. To get the power up to 11+ they will have had to put a stronger hammer spring in, over the .22, how do you find the trigger, if its a little heavy, it is easy to mod into a nice two stage trigger, if you want to know how, pm me and I will tell you how to do it.
  12. Get them to check the power as well mate, you dont want it back doing 7ftlbs, and have to take it back again.
  13. Good plan, I have no experience of Hatsan air rifles, but if they are anything like the shotguns, they are not worth a wa*k mate, ultra,r8, or an s200 will all be miles better, and .177 is the way to go mate
  14. It is against the law in England, cant say if this applies to Scotland, I have noticed this coloured bunny thing as well, twice on a permission I have, when I first got it, about 8 years back, it was teeming with rabbits, we started to see/shoot one or two white/ginger ones, then bang myxy, they recovered quite well, until a couple of years back, again different coloured ones turned up, and hey presto myxy again, now the numbers are pretty low, so there may be something in this theory.
  15. Could do with this shifting, to make some room in my cramped gun cupboard, first £50 gets it POSTED
  16. Really dont need another lock knife, so chaps, £18 posted
  17. Sounds like a proper good old sort, there will come a time when the likes of him will be remembered only in books, I would like to think, in some small way, I am one of them, give the old lad my regards, buy him a dram, and send me the bill
  18. A really strong, lined wood gun case, I had a cabinet maker friend make this for an English side by side in the 90s, but when I sold it the buyer did not require it as he had an original makers case, it is in very good condition, although there is a little rust on one of the brass bolsters, but could be cleaned or changed very easily, snap clasp fastening, with a strong carry handle, it also takes a cleaning rod and bits and pieces, great protection for that valuable gun, £70 will post at cost, cheers.
  19. As new never used, boxed, Tomahawk custom cutlery USA assisted opening locknife, razor sharp black stainless, like brand new, would make a great falconers/rabbiting, or fishing knife, or anyone that requires one handed operation, £25 posted, bargain.
  20. Nice mate, I love my Normandy rabbit in cider, might have to make a pie soon, I think a bit of venison, squirrel, pheasant, etc would go well with that as well.
  21. Sad but true, have a look on the modern apprentice at mews mate, enough pictures to keep you occupied for an hour or two.
  22. Always the way mate you don't realise what you've got till it's gone As with so many things in life, but tis better to have loved and lost, so they say
