  1. Not good enough mate, ring back and dont be fobbed off.
  2. Got him as BH says left and up near the white stone, can just make a barrel out
  3. Me neither in 30 + years of shotgun shooting, including wildfowling in arguably the most testing shooting conditions, but I suppose every day is a school day
  4. Correct, and there is nothing stopping you contacting another more "helpful" force and asking the same question, you probably got through to a civilian in the dept, who cant be arsed, dont stand for it, you have every right to the information, say you are not satisfied with the service, and will write to the chief constable for an explanation, soon see what response you get then ask them how the hell would a man with a closed condition on his ticket find out if the land he has just been granted permission on, is cleared for his calibre, or would they just like him to guess and go ahead and sh
  5. My thoughts exactly BH, in fact I would have been building one from day one of finding the lake, apart from hunting, to get away from most of those lazy useless toss pots, and be on my own
  6. Hehe I rather like this one too boys
  7. Yes a shame really, I quite liked the guy to begin with and thought he, out of all of them, would have shone in the hunting dept, but spat his dummy good and proper last night I have just a slight inkling he may be back? But we will see.
  8. Actually BH you are right mate they bloody were, what happened there then? Especially as that guy was an expert archer, if the local laws prohibit using a bow on deer/animals, then A. why give them a bow and arrows? B. why choose an area/country where it is not legal? I am reasonably confident that our forebears in 10,000 bc used bows for hunting, so without their use the experiment is not authentic, I am also reasonably confident I could get close enough to a deer, in those thick woods, by ambush,
  9. Agreed PK I am sure we could make a better attempt at catching deer/boar/rabbits than them for a start, they have done precisely sweet FA, they have not sussed out any runs/game trails properly, they have not even made any sodding bows, and one of them was a bloody archer, you would think a good strong bow, with a flint tipped arrow would have been a start, and as for the fishing, and what about bird traps, they could rotate duties and have someone on bird catching duty from dawn till dusk, the area is stuffed with game, from what I have seen, the actual drive to eat/survive is very poor in
  10. As said, it is the general apathy of the people that is annoying, as BH said earlier, it is easy to pick faults, sitting in your arm chair in a centrally heated room, but every waking moment of the day should be spent searching/hunting for food, not sitting around weaving grass for no particular reason maybe a group of us from here should have a go next time, see if our skils could translate to 10,000 bc living.
  11. To the right of the stones, green man face, like that
  12. Good, that is all you need to do for now, let us know the outcome please.
  13. Peter I think harking back to (certainly mine) schooldays, a must try harder attitude, will reap benefits.
  14. Yes because it is entirely possible that your friend got his .22 on the basis of some other land, and then was granted an open certificate, meaning the land you have would not need to be passed for anything, but yes check, if the ground is only passed for .22 rf and you require a .17 hmr IT SHOULD be easy enough for them to re-classify it as suitable for hmr, if you dont ask you dont get mate once you have your ticket, put plenty of rounds through it, and look out for some other land suitable, for the inevitable cf that you WILL want
  15. Well my first step(assuming you have not already) is to ring your firearms dept, and ask what if anything the land is passed for, it is unlikely, but by no means impossible, that the land is passed for cf, but again only the police can tell you for certain, once you have established the calibre (or not) that the land is passed for, you can decide, within that framework what you require, if the land is not passed for fac use, then you will have to ask the police to check the land, assuming this was your course of action, a call to the police, asking their advice about beginning the application
  16. Got me there Walshy, I got the other one in about 3 minutes but fecked if I can get the sniper. But as said if we can spot him, he needs to go back to sniper school, I am with BH on the brown stuff, but its too obvious.
  17. Hello Peter, can I ask, did you join the site, and make your one post, just to try and get some permission, without doing any legwork? Forgive my cynicism but that is how it appears.
  18. All good advice above, if you can tell us a bit more, like how much land you have and passed for what calibre (IE land passed for the largest calibre) then we can advise you a little better, it is no good us telling you to get a certain calibre, if you dont have ground passed for it.
  19. .25 no I am going to chance it and say .22, I would have liked to have thought .177, but I reckon .22, hope Im wrong
  20. .17 rem factory ammo is not that hard to get, and at a decent price, but if I had one I would 100% reload for it, you dont see that many come up for sale, for one simple reason, they are very very good, and people tend to hang on to them, there are two on guntrader at present, one at £450, one at £795, both Remingtons, but a ring round some gunshops, will reveal one or two, as said be careful to buy one with a good barrel, insist on it being bore scoped before purchase, and factor in some simple reloading equipment, and away you go.
  21. If you get one and it does not meet expectations, you can stone it to death and get another
